there was this old player i got off zophar that would be able to play back XA files off the disk in addition to saving them to your computer. sadly i cant remember what it was called
I've been told that VGM Toolbox can extract XA files, but I haven't used it myself to find out (I've been meaning to, I've just never gotten around to it). Give it a try. Generally, it's the "go to" tool for VGM rips. It can rip 2SFs and PSFs, and possibly others as well. It's written by snakemeat, though it's had a lot of input from various members in the community. At least, I'm pretty sure that's the tool I linked to. Hope it helps. Mouser X over and out.
As Mouser has mentioned VGMToolbox will extract XA data from files. Although it can extract directly from the cd image, due to the nature of the CD-XA format, a lot of the files could get lumped together if you do it that way.
I suggest extracting the music/movie files from the cd image first using CDmage. They easiest way to identify files that potentially contain XA music is to load your cd image in CDmage and look for files with the value "FM" in the "Flags" column. Be sure to grab the latest beta version of CDmage, as previous versions seem to have problems with the XA extraction.
Extract those files to your HDD and drag and drop them to the XA extractor in VGMToolbox and enjoy the output with the vgmstream plugin.
