Dreamhost has requested that I remove all files that I do not own the copyright to, and has disabled many parts of the site pending my compliance.
Thanks to the many people who helped to build up these archives over the years, but I don't think I will be able to host them in this form anymore. I'm open to suggestions, but anything requiring me to change hosts or do other work is unlikely to happen.

A few more points:
1) Yes, I still have all the data.
2) It exceeds 200 GB, so doing anything with it quickly is unlikely.
3) No, I do not need you pointing out exceptions that were not taken down.

I have 33+ GB of stuff from the PSF section, but my bandwidth is limited, and frequently my connection has disconnected, resulting in broken files when I upload large files.

I'm more than happy to help out in any way I can, but all I have right now is ideas. None of which are exceptionally helpful. Also, my current internet access is limited. I'm on a laptop, and my PC which has all of the files doesn't have internet access. Most of them are on an external USB drive, but that still requires time, and transportation (they're at an entirely different location).

The most realistic solution (aside from torrents) is to create numerous off-site accounts (at mediafire, or dropbox, or elsewhere), and upload to those. Perhaps sharing login data for those accounts could alleviate some of the burden of uploading 200+ GB between numerous people.

I have to agree with HCS though. He's been footing the bill (literally) for this stuff for years, so I don't think he should be responsible for it to get back online.

It should be noted that the 2SF (Manly site), DSF (Dreamcast), HES, NCD (Neo Geo CD), PSF, SSF (Saturn), and fmtowns sections take up 174 GB. That right there is a pretty big chunk of stuff. I don't remember how much each section takes individually, though I know the PSFs and DSFs were 39 GB each. I think the 2SFs were 13-16 GB, I know that NCD was 25 GB, I think SSFs were 13-16 GB, and fmtowns was 30 GB. I don't remember how much HES took.

That said, some of these sections are easier to deal with than others (the NSF area was 38 MB, I think, and the GBS area was 28ish MB). PSFs can be found here, excluding streamed sets. The PSF section here (HCS's site) included streamed sets, which is why it was so large. I don't know of any good repositories for DSFs or SSFs though. And the only 2SF site that I know of was, of course, this one.

So, by that count, the most "important" sections would be the 2SFs, DSFs, and SSFs. Obviously, that's a biased opinion. My point isn't what should/should not be "saved". My point is that if people want to decrease the amount of effort necessary, they should see what is already available elsewhere, and try to give attention to the stuff that is more difficult to find first.

Anyway, I thought it might be useful if people had some idea as to the extent of the amount of data (and what data) that is being dealt with. Mouser X over and out.

Hmmm...I could talk to some of the other people I know in the VGM community. Perhaps we can come up with something.

I'm almost certain it was some jackass leacher who caused Dreamhost to get word of this.
