I got rid of balls (or at least made an attempt of it); before reading the above link, I found out that balls' password was the exact same as his username. So, I edited his latest spam entry to include a comment about his retardation.
We've known what his password was for a looong time, it's just that nobody ever bothered to do anything about it. In fact, who knows if it was the same person posting as him each time.
That's true. As long as it's easily accessible, it would continue to be used for spamming. And if anyone is adamant enough to keep on spamming, then they'll create a new account (which is why I'm trying to create a new tool for the forum to ban users via IP address).
Any reason to be so anal about a post here and there saying balls by balls?
It's not as if he/they were being an arse or anything.
In-fact it kinda fit in certain places.
I logged into the account once to see if balls would be it's password, it was.
Seeing as passwords are stored unencrypted, hcs can easily find out your 100 digit password if he wanted to. XD
Seeing as even hcs didn't ban the account or remove it or censor it, it might mean that he really doesn't care? I mean it is his forum after all, not yours.
Plus, most people are on dynamic IPs nowadays so you can only IP Ban them for an amount of time.
Virgin, my ISP, change their IPs slowly but still nonetheless change them every-so-often.
(In other news, we are going from 50Mbps down, 5 up to 100 down, 10 up on the 30th.)
I can't recall ever posting on balls for the record.
EDIT: Also, hcs, why can't I log into more than one place at a time? It always logs me out at the other location but still shows me as being logged in. In other words it says I'm logged in in the other location but won't let me post and I have to log out and back in on that PC. >.>
You see, Elven Spellmaker; balls is back. Like I said in response to furrybob, if he's adamant enough, he'd create another account. And I know that hcs didn't care; it's not like he needs to, really. And naturally, hcs can see all the passwords stored on the database; not only didn't he include encryption in his forum's code, but he clearly has access to his own forum's database. But I really want to see someone who DOESN'T have server access crack the account. :P
Anyways, hcs didn't care about balls' spamming, or about my resetting the password (& he definitely won't care about balls creating a new account,) so I won't care about the fact that the new account still uses "balls" as its password.
As for your problem with the IP, though, it's actually because of the way the forum's coded. It's designed to prevent SQL injection by, among other things, only allowing one open session per IP address until either the user logs off, or the IP is reset (which forces a log-off).
P.S.: I know that most ISPs (typically residential ISPs) supply dynamic IPs to their customers; just so that you know, htaccess files can be used to ban specific IP ranges as well as single, explicit IPs.
