Here's an ADX experiment for ya... :) by SquareTex at 6:23 PM EDT on July 16, 2006
Just to see if I can get the hang of ADX homebrewing, I extracted the tracks from the first disc of the Dirge of Cerberus OST that are clearly loopable. (At least, I hope I got all of them.) And after much work, here's what I got:

Because they were encoded at the traditional 44.1, they are kinda bulky.

This was pretty fun, and I just wanted to share. :)

This is pretty good so far. Thanks for sharing. I was wondering though. There's 13 files missing (based on track numbers), and the ADXs are mono. Were those 13 files not loopable? And, was it your intention for the ADXs to be mono? I'm certain that I have some stereo ADX files, so I doubt it's a limitation on the ADX format. The reason I'm wondering is because, being ripped from a CD, I wouldn't have expected them to be mono. If that was intentional on your part though, it's not big deal. If not, perhaps the tools you used didn't convert it properly? Perhaps in_cube is confused right now, and only plays ADXs in mono? That last one might be the case, especially because of the 8 (or so) games I've looked at recently, they've all been mono... Also, in_cube has had this problem before. Specifically, "0.8 source - fixed stupid bug from 0.7, ADXs only played in mono" Hopefully this can be helpful to someone...

Anyway, great contribution. I hope to see it hosted here soon (I might upload it myself, if HCS doesn't). Unless, of course, you don't want it on this site. If that's the case, don't worry, I won't upload it. Thanks again for the great files. Mouser X over and out.

Hey, MouserX! :)

Yeah, the set only includes the "loopables". It's meant to be a supplement to the OST for those who can't bear one-loop tracks...like me. ;)

As for the mono settings, I'm hearing stereo here on my end, and that's using v.18 beta 3 with neither of the ADX options checked. What are the settings on your end?

As for hosting them, go right ahead. If I'm a good boy, disc 2 of the OST should follow some time soon. :)

I'm using the most recent version of in_cube. And that's currently v0.20 beta 1. I think that, somewhere along the line, a bug was introduced. Next time I see HCS, I'll talk to him about it, and see if we/he can't figure it out.

I think I'll wait on disc 2 before I upload the set. That way, it will all be contained in 1 file. It makes things cleaner that way, generaly.

Well, thanks for the confirmation on the ADX files. It is certainly sounding like a bug to me. Also, thanks for the Dirge of Cerebrus files. I only listened to a few so far, but they're pretty good. Mouser X over and out.

Well, after some experimenting, it turns out I'm getting mono sound on all my ADXs because of some setting I was using. For some reason, I had "Only play channel # [(number goes here, default is 1)]" turned on. I suppose I can sort of understand how that would result in mono playback (perhaps channel 1 is left, and channel 2 is right, or something?), but the odd part is that having that setting turned on resulted in the songs being looped 4 times. Default looping is 2, which is what I have it at. So, a 45 second song is 1:30 long. With the "Only play channel #[(1)]" setting enabled, it made the songs 3:00 (basically. Take into account fade times, and all that stuff). I find this to be a little odd... Perhaps there's something wonky in the code, since I wouldn't expect it to behave that way...

Anyway, hopefully that can be helpful to someone... At least now I have stereo ADXs again. Mouser X out.

Yeah, I suppose the wonkiness involves there being twice as many samples in stereo, I'll see about fixing that. The "Only play channel #" thing is sort of useless at this point, though.

Man, I've been slacking... <:S

Well, Disc 2 of the Dirge of Cerberus OST isn't posted yet, but...the loopables in the Japan-only "Multiplayer Mode Sound Collection" are! :D

A shame a lot of this didn't make the official album...ESPECIALLY "Turks 101".

So, currently, I have Disc 1, and I'm getting Part 3. Of course, this raises the question of, "Where's part 2?" I'm assuming that part 2 is actually Disc 2, which isn't posted yet? If that's the case, I can be patient. Nonetheless, I certainly hope that Disc 2 is posted soon. This is good stuff. Thanks again for these! Mouser X over and out.

You mean THIS?

That's all the loopables now, AFAIK.

Enjoy! :)

If it's not too much trouble, could you please repost part 1? I was late to the party :(
