Until we have a player for DoCoMo MLD sequences, we'll have to resort to hardware rips because there aren't players that supports MLD with custom ADPCM/PCM samples embedded in them. Plus, I think playing them with their original sound banks is the goal. And a lot of those authoring tools are lost media at this point, featuring the original sound bank(s) that were available in handsets of the time.

@SoundGLSI
Exactly. Currently, the best way of playing mld is to use the official doja emulator.

glad to finally see progress on this after so many years. I doubt I'll find anything else as interesting as the rearranged boss themes in the Cotton port, but there may be other hidden gems out there. And I'd like to know what music was cut(?) from Megami Tensei: Blind Thinker when it was rereleased (probably "Omega" due to Namco).

So is the MLD/DoCoMo format something completely different from [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthetic_music_mobile_application_format]the Yamaha SMAF[/url] stuff? I have a hard time keeping track of it all.
