in_vgmstream it and I got it five post above by Mouser. I removed it even after it played .spcs with distortion. I took the other 3 dlls out too. Do I have to put the test app in the winamp plugin directory as well?

VGMstream won't effect SPC playback. And no, the test.exe application is the decoder, for use if you want to decode stuff to WAV (rather than use Winamp's Disk Writer plugin). If you put in_vgmstream.dll into the plugins directory, and the other 3 DLL files into Winamp's directory, then in_vgmstream should work just fine. What version are you using? I assume it's r386? Try using r427 and see if that makes a difference.

More likely something is messed up on you system/Winamp install. VGMstream works fine for me, and it's never caused any form of distortion for me. Do you use in_zip? I've seen that one do some screwy things occasionally. Really though, there's all sorts of ways you can mess up Winamp.

To help solidfy the problem, rename/move your Winamp's plugin directory, and make sure only the bare essentials are present (an output plugin, and an input plugin, being VGMstream). If you still can't play the files properly, then there's something wrong with VGMstream. If it works as it should, then slowly add back in all your other plugins until you find where the problems become noticeable again (I usually add them in alphabetically in groups. Such as "gen_" and all the "A" names, then "B" then "C" etc. Then "in_" "A" ones, "B" ones, "C" ones, etc. If you need to, split said groups to make it easier to find the problem).

Really, it shouldn't be causing the issues you're experiencing. Something is wrong, and it would be very ideal to find out what. Mouser X over and out.

Thanks for that insightful observation, Elven.

No need to be sarcastic... All I was saying was this is getting confuzzling... One minute he talks about DSP the next he's on about SPCs...

I used spcs as an example. Everything was distorted including mp3s. I never had the problem with any other plugin(s). I'll try r427... and it worked.

Erm... So the actual plugin verison you has was faulty, and even on files that didnt use in_vgmstream, were coming out distorted. Weird...

I was looking through my game library and noticed lego racers was never ripped. Since i'm unable to make usf's i checked the pc version.
It has tun-files with a 11-byte header(with the signature adpcm).
However if i read it with audacity raw adpcm from the 11th byte i get to hear the music, but the offset is shifting and there's clipping, so the adpcm table is not from any adpcm i have in audicity.
I can post some samples if needed or maybe a pointer how to find out adpcm tables myself.

Did that Castlevania: Lament of Innocence .bin ever get extracted/converted/whatever to SVAG like Curse of Darkness's did? Are the files uploaded anywhere, if so? Just curious.
