Hi all by hcs at 8:47 PM EDT on May 23, 2005
Welcome to the new HCS Forums.
Like the rest of my site, it's minimalist and written by me, and also probably full of bugs. Let's start populating it and see if we can't flush some of 'em out.
cool. by Anonymous at 9:30 PM EDT on May 23, 2005
Well, here's a few tests. <b>test</b> </html>.

But it seems rather cool from what I see so far. :) Same as your guest book with threads.
by CaitSith2 at 11:50 PM EDT on May 23, 2005
Yeah, much nicer than chatting in the area that was supposed to be the "guest book".
Neat. by Vague Rant at 3:01 AM EDT on May 24, 2005
Nice job on this. I like the login--no more complaining that someone is impersonating you. Can individual posts have subjects?

yeah, that.
TOPICALITY! by hcs at 9:10 AM EDT on May 24, 2005
Yeah, I decided to just convert everything to entities, no tags just yet but that'll be easy enough to add.

Sorry for the downtime this morning, too.
by unknownfile at 1:13 PM EDT on May 24, 2005
No problem ;)

"Wise fwom yauw gwave!"

*Mouser X casts Life 3 on the long dead thread...

You may ask "Uh, what was the point of reviving this dead thread? You didn't even reply with anything useful."

It is my way of saying "FireDivine, I am horribly displeased with your terrible idea of spamming the forums. Please notice how stupid and pointless this post was. Yours were far, far worse. Please, for the love of all that is right in the world, STOP REPLYING TO THEM! I NEVER want to see them come back to the top again!" And yes, I'm sure you've all noticed that all the things "that are right in the world" are slowly decreasing. FireDivine, be happy in knowing that you help contribute to that decline with the terrible posts you provided. Though, I must admit, I'm contributing as well, in my own small way, with this thread...

And, uh, to sort of get on topic, a little, we have tags now! See! Amazing, isn't it!. Yah, pointless posts +1. Mouser X out.
by hcs at 7:09 AM EDT on May 6, 2006
Aww, should've waited for a few more days for the anniversary.
by FireDivine at 7:14 AM EDT on May 6, 2006
Mouser... Have you not noticed?

I have had hcs delete most of the face topics... and I made two good ones. So stop flaming!
by hcs at 7:19 AM EDT on May 6, 2006
The only one even approaching flaming is UF.
by Josh W at 8:16 AM EDT on May 6, 2006
yeah.

If you can't stand the flaming, get out of the kitchen.

*** JoshW has been kicked (for being a lamer)

I thought about it, but not long enough. I also didn't actually realize this was the very first thread either. That was an accident...

FireDivine wrote:

If you didn't notice, the topics were deleted *while* I posted that. Meaning, I checked the forums, and all of the spam topics were at the top. So, I figured I'd bring this one back as evidence as to why they're annoying. When I reloaded the page though (after posting), I thought there was something missing...

Ah, feels warm. Thanks! My room is still freezing! On the positive side, that means it's unlikely that my room will get to hot during the summer... Mouser X out.
by wolupgm6 at 2:27 AM EST on January 3, 2009
Wow. Mouser X's signoff is not over and out. What kind of scam is this?

BTW - It's thread No.1
by Mouser X at 3:32 AM EST on January 3, 2009
2 things. You should have at least waited until some anniversary date to bring this back from the dead. 2nd, if I don't include "out" when I stop talking, it usually means I'm awaiting a reply. Another way of saying it is that by saying "over and out" I'm saying "I'm done talking, and I'm gone," (Not to say that I'm stubborn and refuse to comment/listen/etc., but more like I'm done talking for now). Whereas by saying instead just simply "out" here (normally it would be "Mouser X over" if I was awaiting a response), I was (IIRC) upset, and didn't feel the posts deserved a proper response. Instead of saying "over and out" and simply saying "out" I was essentially saying "Good grief, this is ridiculous. I've had it, and I'm leaving." If you notice though, that was nearly 3 years ago, so I can't say with 100% certainty that this is the case. However, considering the... abruptness and uniqueness (I'm fairly certain I've never done that before or since), it sounds about right.

Just an FYI I suppose. Obviously, I don't change my response very often. Rarely do I place a post that I'm awaiting a response for (obviously it happens on occasion. Even then, it usually requires me to want a response for me to leave off the "out"). That said, Mouser X over and out.
by wolupgm6 at 4:15 AM EST on January 3, 2009
Hey, sorry if I offended you. But it makes sense. It's just pretty much, every post I've read of yours ends with "Over and Out", mostly, now that I check a couple, because you are replying with the answer, not asking the question. Long time ago, though...
by Lunar at 5:08 AM EST on January 3, 2009
aspie X over and out.

HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY YOU BEAUTIFUL BASTARDS!

I'm one day late and super necro-posting but hell, this place has helped me a ton!

There are so many people I want to thank and I'll just make this brief, you're all pretty great peeps! Without you, I wouldn't be (slowly) churning out my crappy little sound versions over at gravitrek.

Once again, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart, it means so much to me that people could collect their skill here and use it for something as unworked on as video game music files.

Without you guys, I have no idea what I would have done.

Well what I can say for certain is that without you guys I'd still be popping in and out of FFShrine downloading crappy MP3s.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 4:29 PM EDT on May 24, 2015
I do sometimes pop in and out of FFShrine, however, I am not one of those stereotypical pricks that think that 100% of everything on FFShrine is a 64 kbit mono 16000 Hz MP2 file.

I don't pop in and out of FFShrine downloading crappy MP3s.

I pop in and out of FFShrine downloading high quality MP3s and/or FLACs.
by Kurausukun at 8:34 PM EDT on May 24, 2015
You can usually trust the "Lossless VGM Collection" thread, but if you stray too far from that, I wouldn't be too sure. Also Vegeta has a fucking huge collection of FLAC rips of game soundtracks that he ripped himself.
by robotortoise at 10:48 PM EDT on May 24, 2015
I usually go to FFShrine for my OSTs. They have great 320 KBPS mp3s.
by RebeccaSugar at 11:31 PM EDT on May 24, 2015
Ffshrine is indeed amazing, I agree.

It's a damn shame its current owner is the exact opposite of it, especially now that they've upped the moderation so anything incriminating and/or relating to sarah's donation scams won't come to light. She banned me for linking a thread relating to how she screws people over. Oh well el oh el, the IRS will throw Nicholas in the slammer eventually.

I'm still happy hcs still has this place up and running, I've become more knowledgeable with how some things work and the do's and don'ts of VGM, but that just scratches the surface, I still have a ton to learn, other than that, I'm sure this place will get even bigger as the years go by, we'll lose some people and gain new ones, then someone will pop in for the next anniversary and congratulate them once more.

Thank you HCS, Thank you everybody. Your work is truly appreciated, and don't you forget it.
by hcs at 12:49 AM EDT on May 25, 2015
Woo, forgot about the anniversary!

Thanks to everyone who's contributed to the community over the years, putting up with the forum and coming together in interesting ways. I'm proud to have played some small part in facilitating the cool stuff you guys have come up with.
by dj4uk6cjm at 2:14 AM EDT on May 25, 2015
Why is everyone talking about ffshrine?? This is the "10th anniversary of the hcs64 forums" right? Completely different site guys! Lol all jokes aside, this is a great community devoted to video game music. It's sad no other forums truly support video game music like you guys do and that's saying a lot. That's why I hope in the future maybe even 10 more years from now, if were not still here that someone will keep this place alive going with it's OST rippers, lavish style of comedic relief and the best hackers this forum has ever seen! Stay strong hcs~
by Genie at 5:14 PM EDT on May 29, 2015
Yeah, keep rocking guys :)

Yep.
Still board after 20 years by hcs at 4:05 PM EDT on May 23, 2025
May 23, 2005 was the first post. Thanks all for keeping this an easy forum to run. I'm glad for all the smart and helpful folks still reading and posting.

10th anniversary reflections around here

Here's some rejected taglines:

- You made your crazy straw, now drink with it
- Now! that's what I call timestamping
- That's what I heard, are you impugning my EARS?
- It's all fun and games until someone looses AI
- Deranged pix techs
- So bland I can almost taste it
- bad and good luck
- Some you win, cellulose
- laudable, and I here so laud
- Free as in freak heaven
- Icarus is too damned high
- We are in the process
by almendaz at 4:02 AM EDT on May 24, 2025
Happy 20th anniversary !
And let's keep forum's frontend this minimalistic (hopefully forum's backend is too, albeit I highly doubt it, that with ever-changing-updating internet)
Cheers ♥
