Rayman Music by Droolie at 11:29 AM EDT on July 24, 2008
Hey there!

It's Droolie here, the creator of RayTunes.

I was wondering if I could get any help ripping any Rayman soundtracks.

I'm especially interested in Rayman 2: Revolution for PS2, which has been done before ( I think ) by unknownfile, but never posted.

But not only Rayman 2: Revolution, also Rayman 3. As you can see, the soundtrack is already on RayTunes for a long time, but I've been really stupid, because I saved all the mp3's in mono format, and only 128 bitrate, so low quality, which means that I'd really want to rip it again.
But this time, I'd like to rip it from the GC version. I've uploaded a FileCutter archive here, but if that's not enough for ya, I'll upload the complete file in which the music is encrypted.

But I'd also like some help for Rayman Raving Rabbids 2.
As some people here probably already know, RRR2 uses *.wam and *.waa files for its music, but it's unreadable by in_cube.
If you want a sample of a wam file, go here.

That's some request, eh?
I hope you're not scared by the amount of games I request help for.
So... could you please help me?

Thanks,
Droolie.

I did some Rayman 2 stuff, however I never did anything with it. It's nothing too special, and I don't think I have it anymore, but I'll look for it.

Welcome Droolie. Your site is great. I am amazed by the effort that you put into your music rips. Keep up the good work.
by wolupgm6 at 5:19 AM EDT on July 25, 2008
Yes, I Agree. Droolie Has Done A Fantastic Job. Also, Check At gh.ffshrine.org For R2: Revolution. I Believe I Saw It There.
THANKS MUCH by Yoshinkeru at 10:25 AM EDT on July 25, 2008
Just wanted to thank you for all your hard work, Droolie! I had wanted to record the music off of my Rayman 2: The Great Escape game for the Dreamcast for a while, but it looks like this will do it for me! Again, thanks a lot!
by Droolie at 2:43 PM EDT on July 25, 2008
Thanks everyone for the comments. ^^

@ wolupgm6: I check it every month, and I checked it ( and its forums ) now, and it's not there. The only thing that's there is a crappy R2 ( not Revolution ) soundtrack.

@ unknownfile: So? Do you still have it? :)

About the Rayman Revolution soundtrack though... I have the extra tracks on my computer, only two tracks still have to be done. So, it's no problem if nobody here helps me about that one.

I do care about the Rayman 3 soundtrack though... does anybody here know anything... anything AT ALL about that compression?

Thanks.
by wolupgm6 at 11:33 PM EDT on July 25, 2008
well then. i guess i'll have to try find it for you, Droolie.
by manakoAT at 3:44 AM EDT on July 26, 2008
@Droolie - is it possible to upload some more samples? it's implemented in vgmstream, but i can't find the interleave value in your sample file!

News: I don't need to rip Rayman Revolution and Rayman 3 ( stereo ) anymore... Both are now on RayTunes. ^^
Can I get some help with Rayman Raving Rabbids 2?
by wolupgm6 at 11:02 PM EDT on August 15, 2008
forums.ffshrine.org has some rips (incomplete though). i think the jukebox rip is uploaded a few times. ill check for the link though...
by wolupgm6 at 11:05 PM EDT on August 15, 2008
i take no credit for this rip, just knowing the right people, though i do have my own rip somewhere. this ones's a jukebox rip.

by Droolie at 2:11 AM EDT on August 16, 2008
I know there are some jukebox rips, but I want to rip ALL the music.

So, does anybody know how to open RRR/RRR2's *.wam files?
by wolupgm6 at 5:16 AM EDT on August 16, 2008
believe me, i wish i knew... they seem to be in a similar format to the raw wavs i ripped from rayman 3 a while ago... maybe they're encrypted pcms?
by wolupgm6 at 5:20 AM EDT on August 16, 2008
and good job with revolution and r3. they sound great. but track 2 of r3 appears to be and invalid link.

by Droolie at 5:27 AM EDT on August 16, 2008
Thanks! I didn't rip R3 though ( I ripped them in mono by accident, but the stereo version is way better )... :)

And encrypted pcms... maybe.
I think someone said that it looked like Gamecube ADPCM earlier. What's also kinda odd is that the filenames are the same as in the game Beyond Good & Evil ( there are *.wam, *.waa and *.wad files in both games ), and both games use the same engine, the JADE engine. So maybe those formats are similar?
I don't know, really. Can't recognize anything in it... They seem to have a normal RIFF wave header though, but the file only plays silence. :(
by wolupgm6 at 5:51 AM EDT on August 16, 2008
you're right.

only plays silence... only plays silence... only plays silence... only plays silence...

I've got it! convert to mp3 or wav, then amplify using mp3gain or audacity...

also the rayman 3 rip is really good, but anything with andré in it stuffs up. i think its the accent on the e makes the link invalid. track 2, and now 11. dont work. i'm working my way through downloading them, though with only a 100mb limit left i may not test them all.

and dont worry about that mono rip. until you mentioned it, i never knew. and this is coming from someone who burnt a cd and listened to it night and day. i still have your rip somewhere on my mess of a harddisk

oh, and the wad files in bg&e, were they maps? i never got around to analising them (i only did the *.wam and *.waa files)

Is ANYONE working on Raving Rabbids 2?
by Droolie at 5:37 AM EDT on August 20, 2008
I would be if I found out how to open those files.

@wolupgm6: That won't do it. The files are also meant to be a whole song, and they only play for not even a second. :(

I dunno about the wad files really, never got to analysing it myself either. When I got into ripping, Rahly's decoder was already released. ;)

Oh, and the problem with the Rayman 3 rip has been fixed, by the way.
by wolupgm6 at 4:59 AM EDT on August 22, 2008
thanks, droolie. much appreciated.

i just wasnt too sure about the wads because they were also used in games such as doom3. and if that is the case, i may be able to build a decrypter.
by Droolie at 1:13 PM EDT on August 22, 2008
No problem. :)

A wad decrypter would certainly be useful for the maps, but my priority is the music ( *.wam ). ;)
by Omochao at 6:17 PM EDT on August 28, 2008
Anyone working on .wam?
by bxaimc at 6:34 PM EDT on August 28, 2008
.wam (RR2) was implemented i think long ago but you must rename it to .psw
only works for PS2 version for now.

if anyone has the music for the wii version, please upload some files and the coefficient tables so that way this version can be implemented as well :)

Uh... actually, there is no PS2 version of RRR2. Only a Wii and DS version. -_-
And I already uploaded 2 wam files from the wii version. :P
by wolupgm6 at 4:44 AM EDT on August 30, 2008
No Read-Made Decoder Is Out There.

Any DLL That Is Set Like in_******.dll Has Been Dloaded And Put Into Winamp (Now, Winamp Takes Ages To Load Up And Start Each Song). There Was Still No Success, Therefore, I Don't Think I Can Help Much More. I Am Fairly New At This (One Or Two Years Now), But I Think I Should Leave This To The Pros.
by bxaimc at 10:58 AM EDT on August 30, 2008
Where'd that .wam file from PS2 come from? X_o

Yes, im aware of the 2 uploaded files but more samples could be a bit more helpful though nothing can be done unless we have coef tables.
by Omochao at 12:02 AM EDT on September 22, 2008
Anyone still working on this?

Here are some more samples:

by bxaimc at 9:43 PM EDT on October 2, 2008
like i said before, we need the coef. tables for RR2
by Omochao at 9:49 PM EDT on October 2, 2008
And how would I get those?
by hcs at 10:36 PM EDT on October 2, 2008
Start guessing, there's only about 2^256 possibilities.
by Omochao at 11:41 PM EDT on October 2, 2008
How about YOU start guessing, or tell me a better way to do it.

There is probably a file close to to .wams that contains a bunch of them. It won't be particularly large.

And let's keep the stupid down.

Good luck ^_^ Your mission should you choose to accept..yadda yadda :P

I would like to hear it too if it gets ripped :-) Brings back memories.. aaah :D

Well, I tried to take a look myself, but it looks like everything is in this Rayman4.bf file which I can't easily do anything with. Any advice?
by Omochao at 4:36 PM EDT on October 4, 2008
Won't bfbs work?
by hcs at 8:46 PM EDT on October 4, 2008
Nopers. And no simple modification to it will work either.
by Omochao at 11:05 PM EDT on October 4, 2008
What about this?
http://rs54.rapidshare.com/files/17217354/rayman4.rar
by Droolie at 2:37 AM EDT on October 5, 2008
Hmm, I extracted Rayman4.bf from Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 long ago. I think I used the files Omochao uploaded... not sure though.
by hcs at 4:00 AM EDT on October 5, 2008
Yep, that one seems to work. The extracted stuff is a real mess, though. Chances are the tables are in one of the hex-named files, not seeing anything obvious. This might be a job for an auto-coef finder (which I think manakoAT wrote at some point).
Big Bump. by Droolie at 10:38 AM EST on January 23, 2009
Hi again.

I don't need help with Rayman Revolution or Rayman 3 anymore, since both of them have been uploaded to RayTunes ( BTW: wolupgm6, the incomplete tracks are reuloaded ;) ).

I do still need help for Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 though.
Also, I might try to rip the music from Rayman Raving Rabbids: TV Party in the future.

Here are two things I also need help with:

- The Jaguar version of Rayman 1

- The remaining tracks from Rayman 1 for PSOne. Here is a link to the files that contain the music ( click "Rayman 1 - Extra Tracks.zip" ).
The files that start with 'RAY' contain sound effects, the files with 'SEP' contain the sounds of the music. Sounds, not the music itself. I think that the *.VB files ( Sony Playstation Wavebank ) contain the sounds, and BIGFIX.ALL has the order to play the sounds in to make it music.
I have also scanned the *.VB files with WOTIZPSX. It says that the files might contain *.VAG files. I'm not familiar with them though, so can anybody help? Thanks. ;)

It's (still) alive! by Yoshinkeru at 11:05 PM EST on January 24, 2009
(I was gonna resurrect this thread myself, but it looks like it's already done. Anyway...)

I took a look at those extra tracks on Rayman 2: The Great Escape after I got the other tracks. I'm wondering how the heck did you get those??

But I also wonder if you noticed that Extra 3 - The Ambience of the Bayou is exactly the same as 1-12 - The Fairy Glade - Part 2?

I've also thought of something else, wherein I might be able to contribute after all. You see, I am able to detect (sometimes, anyway) where the audio loops in Rayman 2's music occur. Sometimes the audio cuts to different points than the original score was composed, it seems. I have taken the liberty of taking two tracks in particular and patching them into a more "correct" order. Once I figure out how best to get them to you, I'd like you to take a listen.

Yoshinkeru/Friendly Floyd, signing out!
Was that a Portal reference? by Droolie at 12:09 PM EST on January 25, 2009
Hey there! ;)

How I got them? I ripped them from Rayman Revolution, but they are variations of original Rayman 2 tracks. That's why I put them in the R2 soundtrack as extra tracks.

And no, I hadn't noticed that. Nice to know, but I won't be removing that extra for a while ( not until I update the RayTunes site again ). :P

Also, have you read this post on the Pirate-Community forum? "Synthesis" released a great tool that allows you to rip the original tracks, and he also released 2 zip archives with all the tracks from that version of the game ( in their original order + the unused beginnings and endings of the tracks ). So no need to give me the correct order anymore, because it's all in that soundtrack. I suggest you have a listen. ;)

Droolie.
THIS is why I LOVE you guys by Yoshinkeru at 2:21 PM EST on January 25, 2009
I dunno what you mean by "5000 tings", but Synthesis definitely deserves commendation for his efforts! (I would've given him 9000 internets!)

See, THIS is the kind of thing I LIVE for: the original audio untouched, even if not used in the game.

I can't tell you how much I love it when some persons do all the hard work for me, and I love it even more when I can give my thanks like this!

Ya know, I would have left the ending of The Fairy Glade - Part 1 in, if only just before you meet the Teensies (or simply ending, after you run thru once).

P.S. Oh, I wasn't specifically thinking of Portal when I wrote that subject.

In case anyone else was curious, I had edited two tracks: Riding the Shell and Beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava; those were the easiest to spot the loops and edit them.
