Gerudo Valley USF by Elven Spellmaker at 7:46 AM EDT on September 14, 2008
Hi,

Ages ago I downloaded the Zelda OoT usf's and played through them, and I noticed that Gerudo Valley didn't start from the beginning.

I wondered if someone had a version of the USF that did start from the beginning, or whether it was impossible to rip it with the beginning..?
by hcs at 11:50 AM EDT on September 14, 2008
I don't think anyone reripped it. I don't think anything prevents it from being ripped in full, but with the method I was using it wouldn't work.
OoT USF set by Yoshinkeru at 11:01 PM EDT on September 14, 2008
Actually, you'll notice it does that for many other tracks (like Zora's Domain) as well. I've been waiting for this to be fixed, too. When, of course, is anybody's guess, and it's rude to push, but I comment on it when I can (like right now).

While we're criticizing the set, it's also missing a few tracks.
by marioman at 11:26 AM EDT on September 15, 2008
Yeah, it seems that the set needs to be re-ripped. After all, it is one of the very first USF sets ever ripped.

*generic oot usf criticism*

Let's not forget that the alternate version of the Fire Temple music needs ripping too.
by hcs at 5:54 PM EDT on September 18, 2008
Well, the one in there now is the "alternate version", from the first version of the ROM. The missing one is from subsequent versions and the OST.
At least that's how I remember it.

hcs is indeed right, it is the "alternate" one thats in this set

While we are criticizing Zelda related sets (^^), there is a thing i have pointed out for years now.

In the Link to the Past / Four Swords game for GameBoy Advance, there is an alternate and brand new track for the Link to the Past ending (the one when you finish the extra dungeon in ALTTP after playing Four Swords).
This track is not in the GSF set, probably because the set have been ripped from a US ROM. As far as i know this track only exists in the european version of the game (i have recorded it, with sfx), and i would love to get it without sfx!

A few days ago, Redasher from GFF asked for the Four Swords OST and i uploaded this track, so, check my recording if you want:

I'm definitely not imagining this track ^^, and if someone here is curious, i can provide you the european ROM. ^^

It's real, alright:

Also, here is Ending Solo 1, also not in the GSF set:

OoT USF - Missing Tracks by Rew at 10:08 AM EDT on September 24, 2008
While we're on the topic of OoT's missing USF tracks (or rather, to get us back on that topic =P), I'll compile here from memory the missing tracks that come to mind:
- Kokiri Forest with intro
- Zora's Domain with intro
- Gerudo Valley with intro
- Fire Temple (later version)
- File Menu (which is basically Great Fairy Fountain but without the intro)

Also, it'd be nice if all the little 14-second variation bits from Hyrule Field were streamlined into a single track, but otherwise it is accounted for.

Am I missing anything?

(I'm making this list for the convenience of anyone who might be wanting to re-rip the soundtrack.)
by hcs at 2:26 PM EDT on September 24, 2008
That I recall:
- Part of the credits sequence (with the Saria's Song arrangement).
- Alternate Kakariko Village (you'll see that there are two versions of this on the OST)
- Lon Lon Ranch w/ vocal synth

You'll note that these are all variants of existing tracks. I think something about the way I was ripping was preventing these from working.
by Rew at 4:33 PM EDT on September 24, 2008
Oh, right I forgot about the Saria's Song part of the ending!

But I could've sworn that both Kakariko versions were in there? Or at least I have both versions in mine somehow--one of them may be an MP3. =P

Erm, you talked about a menu version of Great Fairy?

I have 2 of the same track one for file menu and one for Great Fairy's Fountain, both are the same without the intros...
Hyrule Field theme by Yoshinkeru at 9:40 AM EDT on September 25, 2008
Rew: I think the track you're looking for is already there, isn't it? Just play the Hyrule Field Main theme, and it'll play those for you.
by agu fungus at 10:12 AM EDT on September 25, 2008
^ It doesn't play all the parts. A redump of Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64 (there's a second variation of "no trophy for you" which is played in the 4th place awards of the game) with proper tempos would be nice.
More on the Hyrule Field theme by Yoshinkeru at 12:45 AM EDT on September 26, 2008
Well, I suppose you're right in a way. That track only plays the "main" theme, while Link is moving. There are no tracks that stream the "battle" (near enemy) or "resting" (standing still) themes.
by ugetab at 1:03 AM EDT on September 26, 2008
There's not a 'moving/not moving' setup. The speed you walk in the game also determines the next section of overworld music. I tried to hack some GS codes to apply to the USF set, but the code in questions didn't seem to exist in the set, sort of the way the Pilotwings USF can't possibly play the cannon shooting track right, because the code to modify the playing speed isn't there, and is likely too tricky to include.
