Ripper for Genesis by AllenSword at 4:40 PM EDT on September 25, 2008
Hi. I was just wandering if there is such a thing as a ripper or explorer for the sega genesis.
by unknownfile at 5:21 PM EDT on September 25, 2008
Sorry, there isn't. You might want to try M1 for Genesis music, though.

Where can I get M1?

I'm trying to rip Jurassic Park with this, but it doesn't work. The command prompt window opens, but then it crashes. What am I doing wrong?
by Mouser X at 10:39 PM EDT on October 5, 2008
I am very doubtful that it's crashing. What's far more likely is that you're not running it properly. Double-clicking the *.exe file won't work. You need to feed it the correct parameters/options/whatnot. Open a command prompt, browse to where you have the *.exe file, and run it from within the command prompt. Usually, this will tell you what arguments it expects to see, to get it running. Once you've done that, read the output.

Alternatively, if it comes with a Readme.txt or a ReadMe.1st file, or something, read that, and it should tell you how to use it. Hope that helps. Mouser X over and out.

Someone needs to make a psf format for Mega Drive.

fyi, the magic words are "That would be really awesome if something like that was really possible."

Someone started to make a psf format, but lost interest in it.

I wonder who it was?

Alright, I figured out how to run M1 from command prompt, so I typed in m1.exe jpark. At first it seemed to be working, but then it said ROMs not available, "jpark.zip". So I put the zip archive in the folder and titled it jpark along with the rom. It still comes up ROMs not availabe, "jpark.zip" and then Aborting ROM or something like that. So now what am I doing wrong? My guess would be an incomplete file (part of the file is missing) but the rom runs fine in an emulator, except M1.
by Knurek at 3:38 PM EDT on October 9, 2008
You need to rename the game to g_jpar.bin and put it into g_jpar.

CRC for the ROM should be 7b31deef, if yours is different, get a proper dump.
by AllenSword at 1:37 PM EDT on October 16, 2008
Okay, still won't work. I did what you said when I renamed the ROM, so now it won't work. I'm not sure how to check the CRC, but that's most likely the problem.

You might need to download CLRMAMEPRO and have it rebuild your romset for M1's naming scheme.
