USF Release Questions by marioman at 8:13 PM EDT on August 26, 2005
Just two quick questions.

I have asked this first question before, but hcs was out of town and he apparently did not see it after he got back.

Specifically what does it mean when a USF set is a preliminary rip? Does that mean that it is complete except for tags/times, or is there still optimizing to do? I originally asked this question in the context of Mario Party's recompiler error, but I see many other rips that stay prelim even though they have tags/times and look complete. So I would like to see if I can get some clarification on that.

Also, just out of curiosity, are requests supposed to be removed after the prelim set is released, or after the complete set is released? I just would like to know when I should change my Yoshi's Story request.

Thanks for your help.

Preliminary status means the ripper isn't comfortable with releasing it. Some other rippers feel that their working, fully tagged sets are not realy for full releasing and mirroring-all-over-the-net yet, in my case I pretty much release anything as long as it works. In Mario Party's case the only issue is the recompiler bug. In the early days when Pilotwings and Goldeneye had a similar problem the USF spec and 64th Note weren't considered "released" anyway. I'll wait until a hopefully improved version of 64th Note to release Mario Party. I've noted it elsewhere, but Mario Party is one of the few sets working with the recompiler in the new proto-64th Note based on PJ64 1.6, so this may happen in a month or so (depending on how busy school, which starts next week, keeps me).

Requests are your own, do with them what you will. I used to manually remove requests after they were filled but I don't bother anymore. Their purpose is to draw rippers' attention to games, so once the game has been ripped they're sort of superfluous, dig?

Also, let me recommend that in the 22 hours you have you should change the subject of this thread to something other than "Questions".
