n64 docs by n64freak at 10:31 PM EDT on October 11, 2008
Was browsing through http://hcs64.com/files and stumbled upon these gems: rdp_commands.pdf rspcop0.pdf Wow, these are awesome docs!! How did you manage to get them? If only we had the rest. I know people who would pay xxxx $ for the rest of this info.
Yeah, they're nice. Got them when I was working on Neon64. The RSP doc just confirmed what I'd deduced from disassembly and experimentation, but the RDP one was pretty helpful for the palette stuff I was doing. But those are all I have.
First, I'm doing some RSP emulation myself. Little success so far, but still... Then, it would be beneficial to the emulation scene. A lot of details about RDP and some bits on RSP are still unknown. Then, your old source may be interested to accept nice remuneration through an anonymous transaction (I know the potential buyer). Anyway, I'm not going to request his contacts if you find it inappropriate. Do whatever you think is right.
If you're interested in RSP and RDP emulation, you might be interested in the work being done on MAME/MESS's N64 support by MooglyGuy, who has the RSP almost completely emulated and is very far along with the RDP. Unfortunately as he works for a company that does Wii development he's waiting for approval from his employer before releasing the newer stuff, which might be a while.
As I understand it the documentation isn't terribly specific about how the RDP works, anyway, beyond what you have seen in rdp_commands.
The thing is, I haven't talked to "my source" (feels stupid to call him that but I don't feel comfortable naming him either) in a long time, so it seems like it would be rude to come out of nowhere and pump him for information again. And dealing in leaked trade secrets seems like a risky business. Still, if I see him online I'll consider asking.
