Mega Man Legends 1/2 Sound Formats? by admiralpete at 2:50 AM EST on January 16, 2009
Hi all. Just wondering if anybody knows what sound format the games Mega Man Legends 1 and 2 are in, and if there's a way to play them with VGMStream or another plugin. I would be willing to provide an ISO of the full disc if anyone would play around with it to find out. Let me know, and thanks in advance!
Thanks for your info on where to find MML1 (taking a look at them now). If I uploaded an image of MML2, could one of you guys that knows how to do this kind of thing take a look at it (the image is straight from the original disc that I own)?
Generally, if a high profile game like a Mega Man one hasn't been ripped yet, there's a reason for it (be it custom format, compressed datafiles or other nasty things developers like to do).
Do what you wish though, just don't expect any immediate results is what I'm trying to say. :)
Thanks again. I'm optimistic that someone will be able to figure it out. Note that this file is hosted on a private web server owned by me (it's just a linux box connected to a wireless router). Also of note is that my ISP only allows 60.0 Kbps max outgoing, so it'll be slow to some. I will edit the post if an external upload is necessary. I am working on tagging MML1's psf set as well as figuring out a way to get the other music intact (I want to remove the voices and sound effects from the stream without affecting the music and I'm sure with enough messing around it can be done). Once I have a complete mp3 set, I'll upload it to MediaFire or something for everyone.
I ripped the PSF/PSone version of MML - it uses Sony's generic pQES format.
I strarted to rip MML2, however, there is a custom sequence format being used. Perhaps I could make a MML2-to-pQES converter and slap 'em into my generic PSF driver...
