Iam working on the Hcs Blast Corps Rip.The Tagging is nearly at the end stadium.

If someone also work on other sets or ripping usf, pls post it here.If there is a Thread like this, delete it hcs. ;)

CaitSith2 was also working on Blast Corps last I'd heard, but that was a while ago. He sent me a timed set which is in the preliminary directory.

I'm considering applying volume tags to all of the USF sets I have. The vast majority of them need a boost of 2 - the most notable exception is the preliminary Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards rip, which needs a boost of 5 before it sounds loud enough.

wrldwzrd, you might want to try using cooledit/goldwave or some such, recording the output from winamp into that and watching where the tracks peak. You have to be careful not to go too close to 0.0db since there's not going to be a limiter on USFs and naturally it's going to clip if it goes too much higher. Ultimately though, so long as it's not blaringly loud/has distortion it's probably not going to be much of a problem.

Lunar - I don't have any of that, and I'm primarily a Mac user. I did put up some scripts for setting the volume of USF files on my site, just in case someone else has a better way to determine the correct volume level than I do. I started a thread about it in this forum.

I agree with hcs, the music isn't THAT bad, it's just not as good as the other two installments. The title theme is great! The game itself is just a Mario Party-like game with card battles like Yu-Gi-Oh (or whatever the name is), and not an adventure/jump'n'run like the others AND complete in Japanese.

Hey, The Levels are renamed right.You dont have to do that, because the first thing is, Parasyte must check it and hes very busy for a long time.To Point 2, what do u mean with "you forgot the tagger tag"?I always wrote "hcs" in the Information at The Pint "USF by".

PdZ, it's confusing to people to put the level number, because even I was confused when I downloaded the set.

Here is an example of the "tagger" tag:

The reason for this is that in the next version of 64th Note (v0.10), much like in Highly Advanced, there will be a Tagged by field in the editor. The "tagger" tag simply indicates who tagged the set, without using the comments field. A simple psfpoint script would be:

psfpoint "-tagger=PdZ" *.miniusf
That would set the Tagger tag to PdZ (that's you).
By the way, what is your first language? I'm just asking.

Oh, and I found a couple of Unknown songs.

Unknown 1 - Fake Ending

This song is played when you decide to keep the treasure in The Cave Of Bad Dreams. If you select I'll Keep It, Rayman flips the coin and catches it, then teleports to a small island. The island is small and has a small palm tree, the sky is cloudy and Rayman is fat. The camera pans out, and the text "The End" appears on the screen. The game then jumps back to the select menu.

Unknown 3 - The Canopy - Knock Down The Big Pole

This song title is based on the (rather poor) DS port of Rayman 2. When you enter the area, get Globox to go to the flower so that he does his rain dance and grows the flower. While you are doing this, the song will play.

With the first unknown song, you are right.I didnt recognized it the first time i played Rayman 2, but its the song of the Fake Ending.

And to the Blast Corps Rip.I dont thing , there will be problems with users, w?hich dont understand why i have named this set in the order of the levels.
The Thing with the tagger information, i dont understand it at all....


I know VERY good, that my english sounds very bad.But I think, its possible to understand. ;)

Diddy Kong Racing:

I forgot to mention, I think some some small little beats are missing in some places on these USFs (beginning of dkr15, dkr18, dkr22, etc) that make it sound odd.

dkr1a is mushed together also...I think it's the Character Select Screen.

dkr28 is also mushed.

Also...they sound a little too loud (altough my relative volume is at 2.00, it isn't like that for any other games)

Well, I was able to listen to a few of the JFG songs. One of them sounded pretty good. The rest didn't sound like music at all, but static, and noise. Unfourtunatly, this was as far as I could get before Winamp crashed. However, I'm fairly certain that crash was my fault, and not 64th Note's (I was switching some settings around in a "Modern" skin when it died. I probably did something I wasn't supposed to/the skinner didn't expect).

Anyway, with the one song I did hear, it was pretty good. But one song is not enough to make an assumption for the rest of the music (though if it was, I'd say it's pretty close). Good luck on finishing it. Mouser X over and out.

Well, dang... Like I said, basing it on one song wasn't a good idea. Yah, it's got problems. Not to mention that about 1/2 of the songs I've tried to listen to (so far) don't play anything at all, but instead skip staight to the next song (I'm assuming that's because the silence detection kicked in (I have it set at 6 seconds, I believe, and my prebuffer at 5. As such, to me, it appears to skip straight to the next song)).

Anyway, I find it funny to hear the broken version. Or at least interesting. Good luck on finalizing the generic driver. And then from there, maybe we can do some auto ripping (on the games that use the default driver).

Thanks again for your dilligent efforts in the xSF community. I, for one, greatly enjoy and appreciate the huge music database this opens to those who have very little HDD space, or slow connections (which I have either suffered from, or am suffering from). I'm glad to see that most of my all time favorite N64 games now have their music within easy access. Good luck, and keep up the good work (in all of your efforts, not just USF ripping. I realize you do have a life, after all). Mouser X over and out.

It seems, that there are also missing tracks at all.Some Tracks begins like the Original, but then it changes a bit.This change isnt similar to the right ones, and i dont mean the "different version Tracks", where we talked about it...

You need the OST/ Game Hardware version to compare it's accuracy. Emulators are dependent on what plugins they use.

PJ64 Sounds most accurate on DKR games when it's fitted with Jabo D3D Sound v1.5. Certain tracks played a very small volume with Almzer's Audio v40.

Iam working on the DKR tagging.A special .bat file will be ready soon.But the cheats in DKR are very bad.So they could not help me.I must play the hole game and get all access to the areas on own.So it seems, i need a little bit longer than usually expected.

You are right with this code.With this, u cann listen to all the songs in a Song-menu, but there is a LITTLE problem....

Noone of the songs have a name -.-, only numbers.
So i MUST play the whole game.But NOW, iam ready with tagging/renaming/timing FINALLY.Man.. this was very very very hard work.From today on, i hate Diddy Kong Racing ;)

For those unaware, UNKNOWNFILE has most definatly done his fair share when it comes to the emulated audio scene. Just visit http://www.caitsith2.com/gsf/ to see what I mean. Heck, to a small degree, he created his own format so that GBS files can be played as GSFs. Though not exactly true (about creating a new format), it did take some ingenuity to get it done well and right.

Basically, I want to say this: Don't let things go to your head. Just because you tag a set or 50, or rip a set or 50, doesn't give you the right to be a jerk to everyone around you (or even just a few people around you). Sadly, if you have such prestige, it is less likely that people will question your conduct, as they feel you are some "special person of power." However, they are still human, just like you (then again, is there anyone from Mars here? If yes, then that might not apply to you...) and, beleive it or not, you are capable of doing just what they've done. They've just put in a little more work to achieve their goals. They may be able to rip/tag a set in a day or less, but I'm sure you have a specialty that can't be topped as well. Everyone has something worth contributing. Please be humane/kind and consider what others have to say, or provide. I'm sure we can all get along just fine, as long as everyone respects each other.

For those who can't tell, I'd like this aimed a certain someone. However, because of bad judgement, if I was to name this person, there would be consequences that I wouldn't want to deal with. Killer Instinct sounds like it was made with both midi and MP3/WAV formats playing together at the same time. Some of the music (midi) sounds clear and some guitar rifts and monkey screams(Compressed)sound a little flat.. I'm not complaning just wondering..

pDz... You don't need to play the whole game just to tag files.

You can use my old (Yes... it's old because it's older than hcs's Driver) list of Tracknames.

I made this before the USF's came out. Since the USF's for BK weren't availible at this time of the creation, I Googled for a Gameshark code that lets you modify music. Next, I wrote down every track based on the last 4 digits on the Gameshark code. I treated this like a player for N64 music.

When the rips came out, the numbers surprisingly matched up to the codes.

Key: Song names the have ( ) enclosing them means that I don't know what it is.

Music DKR is on the bottom... Sorry for having BK and DK64 in the way

You can play the whole thing if you still want to. I beat the whole game in 5 hours (With Savestates).

There are NO missing tracks.The songs Rip is really complete.Ive played the whole game and all levels.If someone want the pj64 Savefile, could ask.Most of the Levels have the same music but sometimes another ending.The Race Levels (without one racing level) have always the same music.Other levels, especially the Bonus Stages have mostly the same music as others.

Only for Understanding!

I DONT have renamed all .miniusf so, that ALL LEVELS WHICH CONTAINS THIS SONG, are in the Song name.Because, some songs (like the Race levels) have 10 or more levels which contains this song.So, I renamed the songs with the important,or first level/s which played the song.

.Because, if its right in my mind, the Shuttle Clear Mission was a Special Mission (because it was the official last Level in the game), and there was an Intro, where the shuttle flys to the City.But I CANT! recheck this, because u can see this Intro only once.

Have you heard of a Gameshark or Action Replay device that lets you do limited modification of the game?

I found a few codes that let you change the song that's playing in the game.

The ones I've found are for BK, DK64, and BT (I haven't played with the BT code yet.)

I basically knew every song becuase I played through those games about 10 times. BT also has an ingame Sound Test Menu that shows the titles (Jolly's Jukebox)

DKR was obtained differently. I compared the songs with the MIDI files I've collected as well as some OGG/MP# files ripped from the soundtrack.

Check http://www.rarewitchproject.com for more information. Might give some info on ripping BT and DK64 music.

Hello ! I am the guy who wrote to you hcs about the mistake in Blast Corps Tag. I was sure about the Shuttle Clear music, because some time ago I recorded the whole soundtrack by using Project64, and I well remembered about Shuttle Clear being slightly different from Angel City.

By the way, PdZ, do you realize that you did a wonderful job ? I mean, the track names are so precise !

I'd like to add that every main level has two versions of the "complete" tune, one short version and one long version(except for the Oyster Harbour music), but it doesn't clearly appear because your track order is a bit confused : for example you put "Ember Hamlet (complete)" track very far from the "Ember Hamlet" track, and you don't always say "Ember Hamlet, Obsidian Mile, etc." with the whole level list.

Also, the "Magma Peak (complete)" tune has two versions, which comes as a surprise : of course this short version never appears in the game, since there is no main level associated with the Magma Peak tune. The short versions can be heard when you leave an already completed main levelby entering the BC truck, so it is pointless to look for the short version of the Magma Peak tune. If anyone finds it, please tell me, but I think the programmers just forgot to delete it.

I checked this out. The "Go for Platinum" tune is actually the "Cromlech Court (Critical)" track. So I guess the "unknown track" is indeed unknown.

But I begun to understand what u mean :).Your example with the Tune "Oyster harbour", that it has two version, and I don't renamed it so.Its because, I don't KNOW that there is another ending tune for this level.
By The way, i tagged/renamed/timed the whole set in only 8 Days or less.It really COULD have some mistakes.If u are sure with your solutions, told them here and hcs (if he has time for that) could fix it.

Hi. I didn't mention Oyster Harbour as an example, but as an exception : it's the only "main level tune" which doesn't have a short version of its "complete" track. My example was actually about Ember Hamlet and Obsidian Mile.

But those are really minor things : apart from that your tag is perfect, I told you it's a great work.

By the way, the Track 21 of Diddy Kong Racing, called "Spacedust Alley, Star City" is also the tune of the Credits of the second ending (when you have beaten the second Wipzig). Darkmoon Caverns is only for the first ending credits.

Sorry I got confused, the "Credits 2" tune is Grescent Island, and you put it well. I guess everyone makes mistakes.

By the way,

The DKR Rip is not ready.The tagging maybe but the quality is wrong.Hcs knows what I mean (the missing soundchannels in the songs).I Hope, hcs will soon work on that "driver" problem.Because I LOVE the music.Ive ripped all my favourity songs from PJ64 and these have the quality I want.

But in the future will show us..

Yes I've noticed that a lot of songs have missing channels, like the first one, the "rare logo", where you can't hear the sound effects. The Diddy Kong Racing music is one of my very favourite soundtracks, along with Blast Corps and Donkey Kong Country 2. I've always thought that those three ones are really, really amazing.

But you know what, I've also always thought that no body ever cared about video game music as I did, and I am VERY happy to see that I was wrong, and that there are true amateurs who consider David Wise, or Graeme Norgate, or Koji Kondo, as great genious.

I agree, DKR, Blast Corps, and Banjo-Kazooie have some of the best soundtracks around.

Anyway, to revoice my concern, it seems that the DKR USF default volume is set a little too high. It sounds a bit like if you were close to blowing the speakers (from high volume).

Yeah I think the volume is all right.

I'm glad that you agree with me, RattleMan, I also like the Banjo-Kazooie soundtrack very much. I won't talk about Banjo-Tooie, because I didn't play much : I didn't really like the game, compared to its prequel, and I was very disappointed about Rare's abandoning the "link stuff" between the two games.

Do you like the Donkey Kong Country trilogy soundtrack ?

The Link stuff for Banjo-Kazooie may have been for DK64. The Rare Witch project found certain (but little evidence of it.)

It might have been Nintendo that wanted to drop the idea of "Stop and Swop".

I still wanted to see what "Dream" looked like. Rare changes ideas too much.

I might want to start the tags of Banjo-Tooie soon (using the Gameshark method again after Banjo-Kazooie and DK64).

The trick is that links to preliminary sets are assumed to be in the preliminary set directory, so if I made that text link there it wouldn't actually lead anywhere.

Some more Blast Corps babbling and nitpicking:

I had played Blast Corps on PJ64 sometime in '04 and found its soundtrack to be very much to my liking - which, after I kinda turned "VGM-scene-aware" this year, I think makes perfect sense, as it was composed by Graeme Norgate, who (co)wrote some of my other favourite VG scores, like Perfect Dark, GoldenEye and Killer Instinct. Still, I continued listening to its music, even after completely done with the game (and I do mean completely, as in 100%, "You can stop now" rank, etc.), thanks to a dude on Kazaa I came across last December, who happened to have a collection of hi-Q mp3 ingame rips from BC and looked much like a complete 21-track OST (a RAR archive of which I later uploaded here). Also enjoyed watching the pretty cool gameplay videos at SDA's Blast Corps section (here) and since I discovered there's such a thing as a USF Winamp plugin, along with your lil setup here and the first cool specimens of your work 'round Xmas, I've been hoping for a BC release to complete the awesomeness - not to mention rid me of the cheesy vocals at the start of each score. To both ends, I must say this USF release has done a most excellent job, so I guess congrats and thanks for the work Adam and PdZ put into it are in order. I did find a couple quirks with the scores naming, however, and basically letting you know is the reason I decided to visit the forums (though it seems I share some common interests with enough ppl here on the side as well).

Long story short, checking back and forth a few times to be sure, I'm now positive that renaming "Race 1" to "Skerries" and "Race 2" to "Sleek Streets" would be the way to go in the interest of better accuracy. You'd think there were more than just one places where the "Race 1" tune was used, but all other miniusfs match with the various SDA levels' movies listing, so I dunno, it could be just that one :s. Also I think the game didn't try to make stages sound more extreme or anything by deliberately naming stuff in funky ways, so "Sylver Junction" could be a typo there.

Okay, nothing else I can think of other than that for a project as tedious as this (so damn many similar sounding pieces in this game, it can make you flip and then some). BTW, I'm kinda stumped with that unknown track myself, even though I played the game more recently than some other folks I know (it was made back in 1997, I believe) - no idea wtf it was supposed to be from, but I'd bet it got left unused in the end. Ah well...

I didn't know anything about a SDA levels' movie listing.So i renamed/tagged/timed the tracks after I played the whole game again.Level after level.I think, it could be better for accuracy, if someone rename the level-usfs Race and Race2, but it seems, that Adam is very busy since 2 weeks or more.Waiting is the only way now.

Heh, they were done at 9 AM but I fell asleep.
A working Jet Force Gemini set is now up. There are 8 "silence" tracks, which seems like quite a lot, so if any songs are noticeably missing let me know. Also if anything crashes before looping let me know.

I'm relying on the dozen or so people who requested this to get it tagged.

I listened to a good portion of the Jet Force Gemini rip. It sounds good to me. However, since I've never actually played the game (never got past the 1st level), What I have to say doesn't have much merit.

Thanks for the rip though. Like I said, it sounds great. Oh, and it seems that's there's a few SFX in there (well, probably not. It's short little blurbs, like "get treasure sound (number 26)"). Based on the "soundtrack" you can get at RARE, I'd say all the songs are present in this rip. On the other hand, it has been pointed out quite a few times that the RARE "soundtrack" is horribly incomplete... Obviously, this rip hold a lot more audio.

Okay, that's what I have to say about that. Mouser X over and out.

I'm just hoping it's not like Ocarina of Time, which had two tracks that wouldn't play with the code I isolated, two tracks which were on the OST. It's odd for there to be that many bits of silence scattered about (though maybe they deleted unused sequences to save space and didn't renumber everything sequentially?)
