GBA to MIDI questions by Elven Spellmaker at 8:51 PM EDT on July 2, 2009
I have used GBA to MIDI version 0.8.0 (If this isn't the latest version then a link to a newer one would be great! =))
There is an option to export the samples used, and I have created a SoundFont with all the samples in it. (Except the drum track which I need to work out how to do. =/)
However there are a few presets that appear as 44 byte WAVs and have no audio data.
Now I have just realised that they could be Hardware Generated Sounds and this program may not be able to extract that. (Sine, Saw waves etc.)
Is there a way of extracting/producing these sounds somehow for use in this SoundFont?
i assume you mean for the gameboy synth channels right? you'll need to manually sample and loop their output -- which is limited use anyway. what is it you're ultimately trying to do with the soundfont?
I have absolutely no insight to add at this point (or likely any other), but could you perhaps name the game you're cruelly stealing sounds from?
Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age. Its very heavy on Sine and especially Saw waves.
Cruely Stealing them, lol. I'm just using what has been written. ;-) (MWHAHAHAHAHAHA! I am actually planning on taking over the world with them, but Sssshhhh about it!)
what is it you're ultimately trying to do with the soundfont? My intention Lunar is to create all MIDIs and sounds from GS2 and use them. (Sorta like I have done for certain DS games using the VGMTrans export to DLS and convert to MIDI)
The quality is actually higher than by using the GSF versions.
For some unknown reason there is a LOT of fuzz on the GSF player, which is not present otherwise.
However I don't think I'll ever be good enough to loop the samples that have been extracted. I am useless at looping. =/
They sorta work without loops, not as well as it should though. I am dreading having to loop it.
ANy samples so far of the work? :) Sounds interesting. I'm a lover of GS too and pissed they never used better quality music or made a soundtrack as the music was great !. If the music ends being clearer then yeah it sounds worth a try what you are doing :P
