Aarrgghh!! Stupid Gamecube Formats! by wolupgm6 at 5:34 AM EDT on July 10, 2009
Hey guys, as you probably know, recently I managed to SoftMod my Wii. This allowed me to backup ISOs of both Wii and GC games to my computer. I was wondering if any of these games' (list provided at the end of post) audio formats are playable, and if so, how to get them to a playable state. Basically, what I'm asking for is that if anyone knows how to get any format of these games' (once again, list below) audio playing, to tell me how. All I have is extracted ISO's (using GC-Tool).
List Of Games, As Mentioned Above: Super Mario Sunshine (I Doubt Sequences Have Been Figured Out) Luigi's Mansion (Doubt It) Starfox Adventures (Doubt It) Goldeneye: Rogue Agent Pitfall: The Lost Expedition Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc (I Believe ADPCM, But Am Unsure)
And Where Did The Good Old StreamDB (Formerly GCStreamDB) Go To? I Think I Found An Older Version Here, Is There A More Recent Version?
People have been wanting Luigi's Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine sets for as long as I can remember, and either the last word was they couldn't figure out the sequences, or they didn't have enough manpower.
Hopefully a lot of whining will make UF wave his magic wand or something and get hcs and Neil and Jesus to ride a T-rex into the Hall of Music and steal the data they need to make a player.
I'm afraid I don't have any magical words of wisdom I'm simply backing up the requests for Mario sunshine and Luigi's Mansion although I have no clue how to figure it out sorry!
Anyone interested in seeing UF's Work in this section, see UF's Adventure's In BMS. If anyone can takeover the project and finish UF's work, that would be brilliant. Or if UF could finish what he started <telepathically contacts UF> we'd all be happy.
dolphin seems to have made some real progress with getting games with sequences playing sound. Not perfect by any means yet, but check out Wind Waker in a recent build. There may be hope for a GC/Wii PSF soon, but I don't think I'll be leading this one.
I was wondering what happened to the StreamDB, myself. hcs?
And concerning a GC/Wii xSF format, i'd guess that a good start would be deciphering the MusX format (or disassembling a videogame using the MusX format) as it seems to be used by many GC games. The MusX SDK is included in the latest Dolphin SDK, if you know where to find it ;P
Aww, I was hoping you meant a person we could prod. That's what I get for not sleeping.
Regarding the old database... by Jackano at 8:30 AM EDT on July 11, 2009
Hey I just noticed on http://oldhcs.no-ip.org/mboard/gcstreamdb.php that Link's Crossbow Training is marked in green as "working" with the message: "\ZapAudiores\Stream\<musics>.ast, also \ZapAudiores\Seqs\ZapSoundSeqs.arc and \ZapAudiores\Waves\.aw's".
Is that actually meaning the .arc and .aw are somehow playable? Excuse me but i don't want to check my hundreds of DVDs to retrieve the right one with the LCT rip on it before beeing sure! Thank you for the info! :)
To me, it sounds like they're saying "Yes, the AST plays fine. There are also sequenced files on the disc as well." Though, as we all know, sequences can't be played (yet). Tales of Symphonia has a similar entry, if I recall correctly. It says something like "<filename>.adx plays, rest sequenced." Which of course means that the NGC version of Tales of Symphonia is currently unrippable (the PS2 version uses ADX, and has been ripped), excluding that one file.
Hopefully that clarifies it. Mouser X over and out.
