Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal GBSs by agu fungus at 10:35 AM EDT on August 6, 2009
I recently checked out the GBSs for these Pokémon games, and both files are missing the fanfare songs. Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow has their respective fanfares, so why not add the GSC fanfares to their respective files?

Fanfares? Can you be more specific?

The little jingles that play when you level up, obtain items, and such.

I have a GSC MP3 rip that I made by recording from the Crystal GBS (GBS Player ROM), and then playing through the game to record the jingles; I ended up with about 17 additional tracks.

If they're not in the GBS rip, my guess is they were stored differently or something, or pruned from the set for not being 'music.'

There was a discussion about the difference from Gold & Silver from Crystal a bit back, and someone ended up ripping Gold for the different intro theme. Maybe you can ask them to check for the other stuff?

I've seen that happen to other GBS files as well. For example, Link's Awakening doesn't contain "Small Item Get" and the ocarina songs and Donkey Kong misses "Game Start", "Radar BGM" and some other small tracks.

In the case of Link's Awakening, at one point, I made the comment that the current set was missing "the song that plays when you use the Ocarina, but don't know any songs." Ugetab is so awesome that he looked into it, and found it was stored as a sound effect, and not as music (apparently the two things are stored differently). So, he ripped it. I have the Link's Awakening SFX rip on my PC, but I keep forgetting to upload it anywhere. I'm fairly certain that should include anything that the current GBS rip might be missing.

Perhaps the Pokémon game(s) have a similar issue, where the songs in question are stored as sound effects, instead of music, and were therefore not ripped? Mouser X over and out.

What format would that be?

Let me know if you upload that Link's Awakening SFX rip, Mouser. I'd enjoy having that.

I'd call you a Lazy Bastard, but that would be an insult to LB. It's still up on my page, Old GBSs area.

You really do? Can you upload it, please?

Any answer, please?

My request to Warpstar once again: Can you upload the MP3 set you recorded from Pokémon Crystal? It's a pain to record the jingles from Game Corner (stupid cheating computer!).

And yes, the jingles seem to be stored as sound effects. Question is if there will be someone who can rip them to GBS.
by Warpstar at 5:04 AM EDT on August 21, 2009
Ooh, I never spent much time in the Game Corner during my recording run. I don't remember if there are any unique jingles for winning that I missed, or if they just reused ones that I picked up elsewhere.

Anyway, here you go. One thing, though: I did this before the stereo version of the GBS was made, so there's no stereo separation on any of the tracks (except for the Main Theme, which I recorded from the Gold ROM).
