Call for Pokemon Stadium tags by hcs at 5:36 AM EDT on October 3, 2005
Maxwill's Pokemon Stadium tags are nearly complete, but there are still a few tracks generically labelled "Music", "Battle", or "Fanfare". Please help recognize these if you can.

not to mention Pokemon Stadium 2

Here's some by Synthesis at 7:49 PM EDT on October 3, 2005
Here's some ID's if you want to add. I ID'ed them as best I could. If you can find better wording for them, by all means change it.

Battle 8- Rival Battle
Battle 9- VS. Mewtwo Menu
Fanfare 1- Kids Club Champion
Fanfane 2- Stadium Cup ~ Preliminary Victory
Fanfare 2 (Extended)- Stadium Cup ~ Final Victory
Music 1- Pokemon Victory Poses/ Cup Presentation
Music 3- Gym Leader Castle (Elite Four)
Music 4- Credits (Round 1)
Music 5- Credits (Round 2)

One more thing, the track titled "Evolution", is actually the music that's played when you receive a random rare pokemon after defeating the Elite Four and your Rival in the Gym Leader Castle.

"Evolution" to "Pokemon Prize"

Hope this helps.

thank you, I've updated the set as per your comments
by Synthesis at 12:47 PM EDT on October 4, 2005
If you want, you can add the composer to the tags as well. Junichi Masuda.

I've heard a lot of the unknown tracks before. I just haven't played the game in forever. So I'll post back if I ID any others.

:)
by hcs at 1:05 PM EDT on October 4, 2005
ok, Junichi Masuda is up there
Some New things by Synthesis at 7:57 PM EDT on October 5, 2005
Ok, I've just started playing the game. Just beat the Pika Cup and I've found a few things.

Fanfare 2 is actually the "Stadium Cup ~ Final Victory" The Fanfare 2 (extended) is the "Stadium Cup ~ Victory Badges". Sorry about that.

Battle 10 is the "Pika Cup Final Battle"

Another thing you might want to edit is the first 2 tracks of the Stadium Cups. Instead of it saying, "Pika Cup Battles 1 and 2", Have the first one say Pika Cup ~ Battles 1-3" and "Pika Cup ~ Battles 4-6" since that's the battles the music played. We may have to change the other Stadium Cups as well, once I play through them.

I also found out. The Pika Cup Semifinal is the same as the "Poke Cup Battle 2". I want to say that's the theme for every Stadium Cup Semifinal, but I'm going to play the rest to be sure.

I'll have more information up as I play. Later

More.... by Synthesis at 8:51 PM EDT on October 5, 2005
Finished the Petit Cup.

Battle 12 is the "Petit Cup Final"

Just like before, could you change the Petit Cup battle themes to, "Petit Cup ~ Battles 1-3" and "Petit Cup ~ Battles 4-6"

The Petit Cup Semifinal has the same music as the "Prime Cup Battle 2" Music. I'll probably be able to clear all of this stuff up once I beat them both.

More to come. Later.

I've taken a break from the stadium and I'm ascending the Gym Leader Castle.

One thing.

Change "Gym Leader Castle Battle 1" to "Gym Leader Castle ~ Preliminary Battles" since it's the same theme used with all the gym leader's underlings.

oh. Does anyone around here by chance save a save state for Project 64 that has everything unlocked already in the game?
by Mouser X at 10:38 PM EDT on October 5, 2005
Check at www.zophar.net. I know that they host save game files, but I'm not sure if they have any for N64 emulators. They have a whole slew of ZSNES ones though. Not that ZSNES savestates will help though. I just thought it might be useful. Mouser X over and out.
by hcs at 11:04 PM EDT on October 5, 2005
another good place for N64 saves is Dextrose, but they don't have Pokemon Stadium.
There is one PS2 save at ZD, but again that's not what you're looking for.
by Maxwill at 10:36 AM EDT on October 6, 2005
Note: Another little change you can make is to
rename the titles "Friend Battle Selection" &
"Friend Battle" to "Free Battle Selection" & "Free Battle".
by Synthesis at 3:12 PM EDT on October 6, 2005
Ok. Changes made. I only need about 15 more to ID. I'm going to try and play through the Poke or Prime Cup tonight. I'll have to start early since I have work in the morning. I'll see what I can do. Any edits you guys find, just let me know.

Wedge009's tags are now up in the prelim directory in case you want to take a look at them.
How is your tagging coming along, LGM?
by Synthesis at 11:16 PM EDT on October 18, 2005
My tags are coming along nicely. I'm Playing through the Prime Cup now. I had to stop mostly last week beacuse I have a college calculus exam to study for. Now I should be back on track.

EDIT: I'll try an update this thread weekly. So keep watch.

Also. If anyone has any taggin info I might not currently have, send it my way. In my opinion, I think we should focus on one tagging project instead of making several.

How are you, LGW? Any new things 'bout PMS?
by Synthesis at 3:07 PM EDT on October 26, 2005
Big update here. I've recently dug out my N64 cartridge that has everything unlocked, which has allowed me to almost complete my tagging of this game.I only have 5 more left to tag.

Using Maxwill's USF library, the tracks are:

Battle 4
Battle 5
Battle 6
Fanfare 2
Music 4

I'm almost positive that the battle themes are in the R-2 Poke and Prime Cup Master Ball matches. Can't seem to get my Gameshark codes to work in the damn thing though.

Let's finish this.

By the way, it's LGM.

by Maxwill at 10:38 AM EDT on October 27, 2005
Whoops. Sorry :P

Yeah, sounds good. Keep on!
by Synthesis at 10:25 PM EST on October 31, 2005
Allright, like I said before, I'm doing to my last 5 tags. I'm calling in everyone. If anyone has any information on them, please don't hesitate to let me know.

From Maxwill's rip they are:

Battle 4
Battle 5
Battle 6
Fanfare 2
Music 4

Thanks a lot
by hcs at 9:35 PM EST on November 22, 2005
Just checking in, how's this coming along? I'm going to get some stuff released soon and I'd like to include this if the tagging is done (or doesn't seem like it will go further).
by SystemError at 2:17 PM EST on November 27, 2005
I have everything (except 38 and 47) labeled (but not tagged), but forgot what was originally what. Those "unused" battle themes, along with the Free Battle music, were used in the cups that were only in the Japanese version.

Tell me where I could upload it, and I'll get it up there as soon as I can.

Petit Cup Semifinal has the same music as the "Prime Cup Battle 2" Music

Actually, they are much different.

No, you haven't seen me before. Anyhow, I have just sent the file.
by hcs at 3:34 AM EST on November 29, 2005
I got the files, looks complete to me. Thanks.
I'll probably be combining your names with those from Maxwill and LGM/Synthesis's tagging job. Also most tags and track numbers will come from theirs.

In the future please refrain from sending the usflib along with the renamed files.

Unless, of course, I hear from either of them, and they can update their own tags (the latest of which I don't have) with your titles.
Interesting... by Synthesis at 10:45 AM EST on November 29, 2005
I see the updated usf files. What I meant about the music being the same, I was referring to a mistag in Maxwill's.

I'll take a loook at the usf files and see if I can't ID the last of them and I'll get back to you as soon as I can hcs.

Question by Synthesis at 6:24 PM EST on November 29, 2005
In your rip, might there are a few tracks labeled "P97+98 Cup". Mind telling me exactly what this is? Are those the Japanese themes? What does it stand for?

edited 11:26 PM EST November 29, 2005
from the email he sent by hcs at 6:37 PM EST on November 29, 2005
P97+98 Cup is short for '97 and '98 Cup, the P added just to keep it with
the other cups.

http://img330.imageshack.us/img330/2721/cup980bm.png <- Here is an image of
the two cups specific to the Japanese version. The one selected, the 98 Cup,
is based off the original cup from the first Pokemon Stadium. It even has
the music (which those "unused" battle tunes are). The top left image shows
the US Poke Cup image, but it is based off the original Poke Cup in Pokemon
Stadium 1 in Japan and has only one set of battles. It is the 97 cup,
although the rules are exactly the same as in the US Poke Cup. The one in
the top center is the 99 Cup, and is for Pokemon from levels 1 to 50. It has
Poke Ball, Great Ball, Etc. But oddly, some seemingly random Pokemon cannot
compete in this cup. They are...

Venusaur, Dugtrio, Alakazam, Golem, Hypno, Electrode, Exeggutor, Chansey,
Kangaskan, Starmie, Jynx, Tauros, Gyarados, Lapras, Ditto, Vaporeon,
Jolteon, Snorlax, Articuno, Zapdos, Dragonite, Mewtwo, Mew

The 99 Cup in the Japanese version uses the Poke Cup music in the US
Version. The 97 Cup in the Japanese version uses the same music as in the 98
Cup.
by SystemError at 6:49 PM EST on November 29, 2005
EDIT: Whoops, beaten to the punch. Oh well, here's a more detailed explanation.

The 97+98 cups were cups specific to the Japanese verison. I added the P so it would fit in with the other cups. But because I don't know Japanese, I usually just call them Cup 97 and Cup 98. Anyhow, to wit...

LOL TWO EXTRA CUPS

The top left one was Cup 97. It was based on one of the cups from the original Japanese Pokemon Stadium, and had the Poke Cup rules from the US version. Cup 98 was for Pokemon Levels 1-30. It is also based on the original Japanese Pokemon Stadium. The following Pokemon can compete in Cup 98.

Beedrill, Fearow, Pikachu, Nidoqueen, Nidoking, Primeape, Arcanine, Alakazam, Machamp, Golem, Magneton, Cloyster, Gengar, Onix, Hypno, Electrode, Exeggutor, Chansey, Kangaskan, Starmie, Scyther, Jynx, Pinsir, Tauros, Gyarados, Lapras, Ditto, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Aerodactyl, Snorlax

Also, I actually went through it with rentals. Ironically, I made excellent picks (Vaporeon, Jolteon, Nidoking, Alakazam, Gengar and Lapras) and won. The order of the trainers goes like this.

Hiker
Sailor
Swimmer
Tamer
Cueball
Mr. Fix
Biker
Old Man

Cup 98, while having the Poke Cup rules, only has one set of battles like Pika Cup and Petit Cup.

Cup 99, which is the one in the middle with Hitmonlee, Porygon and Seaking, has different rules. It is for Pokemon from levels 1-50. It has the Ball Classes, and strangely, the following Pokemon *CANNOT* compete.

Can't compete in 1~50 Cup
Venusaur, Dugtrio, Alakazam, Golem, Hypno, Electrode, Exeggutor, Chansey, Kangaskan, Starmie, Jynx, Tauros, Gyarados, Lapras, Ditto, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Snorlax, Articuno, Zapdos, Dragonite, Mewtwo, Mew

Also, Cup 99 uses the music used from Poke Cup in the US Version. Cup 97 and Cup 98 use the same music, which is also from the original Japanese version. I haven't tried that cup out, yet, nor have I tried Cup 97. It's easy to see why these cups were dropped. Oddly, Cup 97, which has the image of the US Poke Cup, uses the arena with the floating lights depicted in the background of the image! In the US version, this only shows up during Battle Now, but oddly enough, it is labeled in the Photo Center as being "Poke Cup." (the Japanese version didn't have the Photo option in the game, so it is specific to the US version. Therefore, Cup 97, Cup 98 and Cup 99 were probably cut off after they did the photo center and translation).

Free Battle and Cup 97/Cup 98 Battles 1-3 are the same music, but it'd be preferred to do something like XX: Cup 97+98 Battles 1-3 and Free Battle
by unknownfile at 6:42 AM EST on November 30, 2005
The message reads (in Japanese):

Nintendo Cup 98 - Level 1~30

98nen dai 2 kai Pokemon RIIGU RUURU de no BATORU. Kenkyuu shitsukusareta tegowai KAPPU.

...just in case you were wondering.

And the English version Pokemon names suck.
I prefer the original Japanese.

Sorry for the late update. I got called into work the last few days. My retagging is almost complete. Be patient.

EDIT: I'm all done. The only thing left is that one track. Hopefully someone will discover where this tune comes from. Unfortuately that this ends up being only 99% complete. -_-`. If anyone finds where this track belongs, please don't hesitate to speak up.

Stadium 2 by Warpstar at 11:26 PM EST on January 19, 2006
I'm thinking about trying to at least partially tag the Stadium 2 set, and I've started looking it over.

One thing I've noticed, the little tune that plays during the intro sequence appears to be missing; I've gone through the set a few times and couldn't find it.
Another problem I have is that sparse51.ram.miniram and sparse52.ram.miniram don't seem to play anything.
Last thing: sparse54.ram.miniram, sparse5b.ram.miniram, and sparse5d.ram.miniram appear to be duplicates of the same track. Maybe I need to listen closer, though.

I'll keep you posted.

Awesometastic.
Somehow it wound up in my junk mail folder, so I had to dig a bit to find it.

I don't have the time right now to package everything up, it's up in the preliminary directory now. I should have the "complete" set up later today.

Thanks again.

[edit]
I put it together, fixed a few typos, and put the acute e (?) everywhere it belonged.
Here it is. If anyone knows of why this should not be released, speak now or forever hold your peace.
Or just tell me later.

Maybe I should get rid of the accented e?

edited 5:41 PM EST January 30, 2006
by Warpstar at 12:38 AM EST on February 20, 2006
With a little help from someone on another forum, I have Stadium 2 pretty much complete.

One big problem though: as I mentioned before, there are two files that don't play anything. The two are sparse51.ram.miniram.miniusf and sparse52.ram.miniram.miniusf. I don't get any errors when I play them, just nothing plays.

The thing is, I'm wondering if these may represent the ending sequence music. It's not present elsewhere in the set.

My first thought was that it was like in Stadium 1, where there were unique "Credits" themes for Round 1 and 2. Now that I actually played it again, though, I see that the ending sequence is broken into two parts, and that the two files may represent the music for each part.

Things are made a bit more complicated by the fact that the music for the little opening scene is missing as well.

Any help here?

A few smaller issues:
*The set has a few duplicates.
sparse5a.ram.miniram.miniusf appears to be a dupe of sparse01.ram.miniram.miniusf.
sparse5b.ram.miniram.miniusf and sparse5d.ram.miniram.miniusf are both dupes of sparse54.ram.miniram.miniusf.
*The Johto Gym Leader Castle music (sparse3e.ram.miniram.miniusf) varies a bit upon entry of the Elite Four area. A louder set of trumpets starts to play over the music on this screen. It's pretty insignificant, though.
by Synthesis at 6:11 PM EST on February 20, 2006
Aww hcs, Why did you get rid of the accented E's? Besides, even if yo uwanted to get rid of them, you missed a few of them on some tracks. Please but the accents back. =P
by hcs at 6:25 PM EST on February 20, 2006
Glad to hear about PS2, I'll try to look at that but things don't seem to be working out these days.
Did I get rid of any e's? I thought I put them all where they should be (maybe I didn't upload my fixed version).
by hcs at 4:48 AM EST on March 10, 2006
