The Beatles: Rock Band Multitrack .bik files by blitzbob at 5:54 PM EST on November 30, 2009
I've been trying for the past couple of days to crack the encryption on this file:

Hey Bulldog (Encrypted .bik) http://www.mediafire.com/?mqmznzznzim

What this is, is a .bik file normally used for videos but on Rock Band and Guitar Hero games, multitrack audio. Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vocals, and everything else completely separated.

You would normally use Rad Video Tools (google it) to convert them to wav but it seems they've encrypted them. There is an extra 56-byte header, that when I remove I'm able to view the channels, but as I go to convert it to wav it crashes.

If anyone cracks em you'll have the studio master tapes to 45 Beatles songs, plus various RB2 DLC and whatever else comes along.

Anyone have any ideas? Can someone at least tell me the strength of the encryption?

Maybe this article would help,

Wow, the comments on that article are completely ignorant.

You sure the mutlitrack audio files are actually the "studio masters?" The files would be pretty huge. Especially for the Wii.

Each song is only about 40mb, thats why it's .bik, It compresses alot. And the studio masters is the reason it's encrypted so heavily.

That size, especially for multitrack audio, smells lossy.
by blitzbob at 8:23 PM EST on December 3, 2009
Yeah, judging by the quality of the GH5 multis, but still, the songs are separated.

That's a multitrack of Smells Like Teen Spirit ripped from the wii version of Guitar Hero 5. The quality is not that bad.

Use Audacity to open

Definitely not studio master.
by blitzbob at 8:41 PM EST on December 3, 2009
What? It is, GH5's box says "All Master Recordings". Any one want to give it a shot?
by asdf at 10:13 AM EST on December 4, 2009
was GH5 ever completely dumped? 9 channels is awesome, despite it being downsampled to 32kHz

Use Bink Video, found here to convert the .bik files to wav. Just set the audio channel to 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, etc to save the separate tracks as .wav.

Sorry if its already been mentioned but I'm here only briefly and can't be bothered reading the whole thing.

Irdeto? The people behind satellite encryption in some jurisdictions?

Wow....o.o Just....wow....
I know Irdeto 2 level encryption for satellite TV is damn good, but applying thier tech in games?

Sheesh. Reminds me of Syncrosoft and thier MFACT encryption.
