How to Play USF? by someguy at 8:40 PM EDT on October 11, 2005
Hi all,

Sorry, but I'm a n00b. But how can I play USF? I know that I have to install Winamp, but which version of Winamp? Does it have to be Winamp v2.xx? Or is it the latest Winamp (v5.xx)? Thanks...

any version of winamp greater than 1 (i.e 2,3,5) will be able to use 64th Note to play USFs

Then you need to download the plugin and extract that into your winamps plugin directory.

pretty simple.

I could be wrong, since I never used Winamp 3, but I'm pretty sure that it can't use the plugins from 2.x or 5.x. I think there was a mjor differance in the SDK, or the way the plugins interfaced with Winamp. Like I said, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Winamp 3 was incompatible to almost everything from Winamp 2.x.

Personally, I would recommend that you use Winamp 5, as it is the most recent, and therefore has the most bugs worked out of it (though I'd try to find Winamp 5.093 or 5.094. I use 5.093 because it sounds like Winamp 5.1 has a few small problems. However, those problems should be fixed for the next release of Winamp, whenever that is). If you don't like the idea of "Modern Skins" or a bunch of the other features that Winamp can have, then while the installer is running, simply choose, from the dropdown menu, "Lite," (or something like that). It should cut out almost all of the "extras" that Winamp 5 provides, and leave you with a 2.x Winamp, except that it's undergone massive updates.

Hope that helps. Mouser X over and out.
