How do you play Screamtracker 2 Module files? by TheUltimateKoopa at 11:33 PM EDT on March 28, 2010
I basically ripped a few streams from a Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door ISO, and they're in *.stm format (Screamtracker 2 Module). They are associated with winamp, in that they have a winamp icon, however, when I play them in Winamp, it just doesn't play anything. The timer says 0:00 and it just skips all of them.

Those aren't "ScreamTracker 2" files, Winamp is lying to you...

What you ripped are audio streams from the ISO, probably some form of Nintendo ADPCM, (Or DSP or whatever is known for Gamecube games)

Try using in_vgmstream?

(has NO idea what he's talking about 99% of the time, but enough to know NOBODY USES SCREAM TRACKER 2 ANYMORE... that's *WAY* back in the 80's of IBM PC's...)

They're not ScreamTracker Modules (which are sequenced).... They're STreaMed files, STM.... rename them to *.dsp, and they should work in VGMstream just fine. IIRC, that game was among the first to be ripped. As you've already realized, the STM extension predates the game by quite a few years. Thus, when support was added for this game, HCS chose to rename the files, rather than build a work-around to account for STM files. Mouser X over and out.

Here is a list of the ripped files, maybe it works if you just rename them to .dsp?!
by Mouser X at 4:35 AM EDT on March 29, 2010
That's where I linked to already (see that *.dsp is a link?), and told them to do (rename to DSP). I feel like my post was ignored. :( Mouser X over and out.

We all <3 you, Mouser X, don't feel ignored.

i tagged (or well titled) the whole TTYD set some years ago. dunno if that's the version that's available now though. probably will just download an mp3 set... tags are superior to looping indefinitely.

Most of you should know that I've had in_vgmstream for some time (couple of months), but I'll see if what Mouser X said works (I didn't ignore your post).
by hcs at 11:57 AM EDT on March 29, 2010
Yeah, we require the renaming precisely because Winamp has screamtracker support by default. vgmstream itself (and the command line decoder) support either the .stm or .dsp extension for this format.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 9:21 PM EDT on March 29, 2010
It works... but I had to change folder settings to display the .stm extension, otherwise, I'd just end up with something.dsp.stm <_<

you should always have file extensions displayed mang, how can you live without it!

The answer is, is you can't!
