Winamp 5.58 doesn't load VGMStream. by Franpa at 12:43 PM EDT on July 2, 2010
I re-copied the DLL after installing 5.58 when I first noticed the problem, assuming the Winamp installer wasn't fixed to not break some plugins yet but the problem persists.

edit: actually, I forgot to replace the addional DLL files required just in case they got corrupt from Winamp installer too.

Assuming that means it's working for you now, because it's working for me after copying the additional DLLs.

yeah it needed me to recopy the additional DLL files again. Also had to reinstall MGME (which I use for SPC files)

I think it's safe to say Nullsoft have no interest in not breaking things and this will happen with every install.

It's not their responsibility to make sure third-party plugins work with each new revision.

But it'd be nice if they didn't have the installer poke at dlls they didn't install.

installer is stupid with them
by Hotcakes at 11:20 PM EDT on July 4, 2010
It very well should be their responsibility to not -go out of their way- to break third party plugins with every install. That's what you need to understand, Judgelto. It's not that the plugins become incompatible; they actually touch the files and *break* them.
by JudgeIto at 12:31 AM EDT on July 6, 2010
I was not aware the installer did that.
by Franpa at 9:23 AM EDT on July 6, 2010
Yeah it was confirmed a while back in another thread that I can't find right now. The installer will corrupt some existing plugins during the installation process. The installer shouldn't be touching anything other then things officially included with the Winamp program.

This is why my train of thought led me to recopy plugin files from there compressed files and/or install package.

To be fair all around, there's something unusual about the dlls that mingw32 produces that causes the optimizer to make them unloadable. I don't know enough about the loading mechanism to figure out quite what yet.

I re-posted the issue in there "Winamp 5.581 core bugs" thread.
