Oh I see, is there a way to combine the wav's? I'm trying to rip Bomberman Blast... It doesn't really work like that. Think of the wav's each being a different note. You need the music sheets in order for it to sound like a song.
so i guess the only way to rip the original song would be through dolphin emu?
Is there a way where the WiiWare songs could be emulated [like the 2sf for Nds]? Because if it does then it could be used to dump the song in a similar fashion as NDS using 2sf as the output [VGMtoobox], right?
so i guess the only way to rip the original song would be through dolphin emu? If dolphin can emulate it, then yea, probably the best way to do it. Is there a way where the WiiWare songs could be emulated [like the 2sf for Nds]? Not yet, possible, but no one's working on it. Because if it does then it could be used to dump the song in a similar fashion as NDS using 2sf as the output [VGMtoobox], right? It could, but the format needs to be figured out first. If anyone cracks the format, my guess is that it will be the developers of dolphin that do it, then yes, you'll have a xsf format, but it will probably be more relatable to USF (less figured out, more hacked together audio-only emulator).
I don't want to create another junk thread, so while we're on the topic:
What exactly is the big hurdle keeping us from having an xsf-style format for GC/Wii sequences? Is it something technical or merely a matter of people not having the time?
Well, I can think of a few major things. Yes, there's the time issue. However, have you used Dolphin? The last time I did so, the audio emulation was terrible. I wouldn't be surprised if this has been improved, but I'd be surprised if it was adequate for xSF yet. Also, someone here (I forget who) looked at the code, and said it was a complete mess. The idea with xSF is to, essentially, pull out the audio hardware bits (and a few other things, really, but graphics are completely unnecessary). They said that separating the audio code from all the other stuff wouldn't be easy at all, and would require major work.
On top of that, no one has "ripped" a GC/Wii game into xSF yet. Someone needs to come along who is capable of doing that. They'd have to create the format (though, with the xSF "framework" that might be easier than I realize. I don't know), they'd have to find the right drivers, they'd have to find the sequences, the sound banks, etc.
Really, there is a lot that needs to be done. Yes, the groundwork exists (that is, audio emulation), but that only means it's now possible, as opposed to Highly Improbable, as it was before. For a format to be created, some really bright people would have to get together, and work on it. And I would agree that those people are most likely currently involved in Dolphin's code base. Perhaps we need to get some people onto Dolphin's forums and start asking about it.
This is my understanding of the situation anyway. Hopefully, I've adequately provided an answer to your question (and hopefully it's right). Mouser X over and out.
