Other M SDF Files Multiple Streams? by CapComMDb at 1:39 PM EST on December 11, 2010
I was listening through the Metroid: Other M .adx files extracted from the sfd files using demux_sfd and realized something...
Where are the Japanese audio tracks? To be sure, I checked the Japanese version of the game as well, but did not hear any Japanese audio for the sfd movies. Sure enough, I just got English audio.
This suggests to me that the audio tracks for the SFD files are multi-stream. There should be both an English and a Japanese audio stream embedded in the videos - and perhaps it also separates the music channel (wishful thinking...).
Does anyone know of a player or reader that can detect and extract them? Otherwise, where did the Japanese audio go?
TMPGEnc can extract both streams, but I think you could ask manakoAT about implementing this option on demux_sfd. Just download the trial version, go to the MPEG tools menu and use the Demultiplexer tab to see which streams do have the SFD file you select. Extract the one you want by double-clicking on it, and be sure to save it with adx extension.
The SFD files from Sonic Colors also have two audio streams.
Yeah, they encoded the music, SFX, and voice onto the same channel for both. Too bad! Interesting thing is, the Japanese recording voice recording seems a little better...or perhaps they just enunciate louder!
BTW, did you decode the video stream succesfully? The output of almost every SFD I try to convert is wrong and blocky (http://hcs64.com/mboard/forum.php?showthread=21618).
