Xbox 360 YAF File Extraction Help by thebib62 at 8:44 PM EST on March 8, 2011
I'm trying to extract the entrance music files from smackdown vs raw 2008.
There's a file named music.yaf... which I know has the music files I want.
I've searched google for a YAF extractor, but the only ones I find are for PS2 YAF's, which 360 YAF files will not work in PS2 YAF extractors.
Anyone here know how to extract xbox 360 YAF files?

Thanks a lot to anyone who can help!

How should someone help without a file for testing?

I was able to open the YAF file and extract RIFF/WAV files. I zipped up 7 of them for you guys to take a look and see if they can be converted .

Thanks again to anyone who can help.

Sorry for bumping but I'm actually now looking for a yaf extractor that works on these XBox 360 files.

HERE is a sample if someone could take a crack at it.

It's standard XMA with RIFF headers.

Just split the archive at the RIFF headers and then convert them with ToWAV :)

And what program does one use to do that? Sorry, but I'm a complete code/programming language idiot.

Load the RIFF style header preset for VGMToolbox's "Advanced Cutter/Offset Finder" and it should be ready to go, just drop some files in the input field to the left at the top. Worked for me.

It says 'Search string cannot be empty"

EDIT: Nevermind, didn't hit the load option like an idiot.

YAFF YAFF. Just take the YI.. er, RIFF files, and play them directly with some FFMPEG based player. Maybe with a little work, someone can introduce looping support to FFMPEG and everything will be peachy keen.

FYI my fork of Cog for Mac OS X can play XMA files directly, but doesn't support any special sort of loop control, so the best you can expect is Repeat One.

How about a .yaf for the PS3 version? Tried the riff cutter in VGMTools, but it didn't do anything.

HERE'S one of the yaf files.

The PS3 version is just MP3 with some sort of header. Nice, this Hulk's old school theme!

Just change the file extension to .mp3.

in windows command line: "ren *.yaf *.mp3"

EDIT: I realized that this file had 2 mp3s in it. I made a quick and dirty VGMToolbox Advanced Cutter preset to cut on the ID3 tag headers of the mp3s in this file, maybe the others as well: https://www.sendspace.com/file/1y204p

Thanks, for the most part the cutter worked fine except 3 files it accidentally left spliced together.

Snakemeat (or anyone I guess), can you take a look at these PS3 .yaf's from Smackdown Vs RAW 2010?

yafs

The small one, music3, worked with your script you made, but the big one music1, didn't.
