Nintendo 3DS games have been dumped! by neo_chip at 11:29 PM EDT on June 5, 2011
Just read the article via GBATemp and am shocked. With the release of 3DS Roms, any chance someone with hex editing skills can look at the structure? Prefferably Super Monkey Ball 3D?

I'd imagine an adx source, hopefully adpcm.

I am under the impression that these rips are still encrypted, as were Wii rips for a time until the keys were found.

That seems to be the case - no hits for CRI in the Super Monkey Ball 3D rom at least.

Already took a look at them. Compression and possibly encryption is involved since I can only find 3-4 archives within them with similar headers between the two games.

Are they deliberately encrypting these new ROMs to make them harder to emulate or harder for people to get the music out of them?

I would think the former, but just was curious.

Not emulate, pirate.
Nintendo knows it will be ages before any emulators worth anything surface (3DS isn't GBA, obviously), but flashcards and/or Chinese bootlegs are a completely different thing.

Ahh, things like R4 cards and other flashcards.

Devs don't give 2 shits about us emulating or ripping music out of them. Like Knurek mentioned, it's about preventing piracy.
And with emulation, who knows. 3DS has an ARM11 processor so it shouldn't be THAT difficult to crack considering it might be similar to the DS's architecture.
