Super Mario Galaxy 'multi_ast' Problems by SwimyGreen at 5:58 PM EDT on September 25, 2011
I have vgmstream and winamp downloaded and working together properly, but some of the songs weren't converted to wavs right. All the song's titles end with stream_ast or multi_ast.

I'm guessing multi_ast means that there are multiple audio tracks that switch in-game between each other. Ex. when you go underwater, bowser boss battle, ghost race, etc.

So, these songs didn't copy properly. pretty much it plays for a second or two and then it loops that sound for te remainder of the time of the actual song. Is there a way to separate the tracks apart or to fix it? Thanks!

Try a newer version of vgmstream. I assume you're using an older one because the wavs it gives me are just fine.

If you want them separated use this.

@furrybob OK I finally got a chance to work on it again. So, do I put the file in the winamp plugins folder or in the original file folder? If it goes in the winamp folder I assume it will just separate the multi_ast songs into seperate tracks and lt'll leave the rest alone, right?

Just put the ASTs in the same folder as the ast_multi.exe file and use the command prompt to split the files, usage shown below.

Winamp isn't required iirc..

C:\Users\Jack\Downloads\ast_multi00>ast_multi.exe
usage: ast_multi.exe blah_multi.ast

Oh, I didn't even bother to extract the ast_multi00 file. Thanks for being patient with me.
