The HCS sellout show by hcs at 1:20 AM EST on December 6, 2005
Wouldn't it be funny if I could actually make back some of the money I pay to run this site? I know I'd be laughing.

All the way to the bank!

HA!

---

Thus the google ads on the page (here and on USF Central). Chosen because they're fairly unintrusive.

Hell yeah.

Another idea is to have donate buttons in the most convinient of places, but I don't think PayPal is not the most trustworthy of services...

I'm surprised you hadn't done it sooner. Can't say I blame you at all. Aaaaand, what more, google have nice ads. I'd be bothered if it was popups (or ... ugh ... popunders), but google ads are nice and discreet.
by Qube at 7:57 AM EST on December 6, 2005
There's nothing wrong with these simple ads and at least they help keep the site online for us all to enjoy!
by hcs at 6:01 PM EST on December 6, 2005

by hcs at 10:42 AM EST on December 10, 2005
Yeah, I'm gonna start shopping around for a better host, now.
by DeadAwake at 8:41 PM EST on December 10, 2005
Haha. hcs, most webmasters try to be secretive about their earnings, and here you are rattling off your day's earnings! I like that.
by hcs at 10:58 PM EST on December 10, 2005
I like to let the people responsible know what they're doing...

Surpass Hosting

Looks good, no?
by Josh W at 7:42 PM EST on December 15, 2005
they seem to have good value.

But i still dont think that you could host the in_cube collection in its entirety.

by hcs at 7:57 PM EST on December 15, 2005
Of course not.

But it'll be nice to have some more breathing room, and unlimited FTP accounts and subdomains will be nice.
Some others to look at... by MegaByte at 12:24 PM EST on December 17, 2005

No, but he could have a lot of fun trying. :)
by Firon at 12:09 PM EST on December 25, 2005
Try filefront.com, I've seen people hosting ~4GB of MP3s (trance and whatnot) with it and they had no problems. I don't think they delete your files after a set number of days...
There's a 1GB limit per file, so it should be more than enough for the DSPs. :P
by headerless at 2:24 AM EST on December 7, 2010
...and it comes full circle, I see.
by hcs at 7:26 PM EST on December 7, 2010
How so?
by headerless at 12:03 AM EST on December 8, 2010
First you become an internet "user".
Then you learn how annoying ads can be.
Later, you are given the chance to make money via ads.
Then you circle back to realizing how annoying ads can be once again, if not from experience, but from thought.
by hcs at 12:21 AM EST on December 8, 2010
It was mostly just a matter of getting a job and being able to afford to drop ads.
