Non-ripped games... by Zerodius at 6:10 PM EST on December 12, 2005
I have noticed that some games still don't have even a preliminary set... so I'm asking myself... any progress on new USF sets?
Anyway... I don't know if it was attempted already... but here are some games for those looking for games to rip but who are out of ideas:
-Pokemon Puzzle League -Chameleon Twist 2 -Dark Rift
Well, that were only suggestions for those willing to do USF rips... and I think that those games have some decent music and as such, would be worth the time... most probably.
There's a "requests" link on the USF page for things like this. Also, there's already a thread for this as well (it's probably a page or 3 back). To add to that, there's only 2 or 3 people here who have even ripped any USFs at all. It's not an easy thing to do, and often requires a lot of time and effort.
That aside, I'd like to point out that, currently, a lot of time and effort has been put into the "in_cube" area right now, so that's they there's not many rips coming from HCS. As for Josh, I recall hearing that somewhere in the (nearish?) future, his schedule will probably change, and he might not be able to put as much time into USF ripping as he has in the past.
I don't mean to be putting words into anyone's mouths, so if I've made a mistake, sorry about that. As for the topic of this thread, if a game is not ripped, there's often a very good reason for it (time, real life, job, school, didn't know about the game, other projects, ect.).
As for me, I'd like to rip USFs, but learning assembly can be a pain (I looked into enough to catch a few things going on. Then I saw C++ and I was floored by how much easier and cleaner it was!). However, there is a walkthrough put together for people to look through, and try out. I beleive you can find a link to it in the FAQ page, which is linked on USF Central at the top.
Anyway, I hope that answers your question in an acceptable manner. Mouser X over and out.
... err... anyway. Sorry... but I still don't like your post too much because you assume that I don't know how much work ripping that kind of stuff require... that or I am susceptible (grammar?)...
I think you misinterpreted my post. I was simply trying to be straight forward, and get to the point. There is a system of requesting already in place, and I've seen it get used. So it is, at least reasonably, effective to post a request in there.
As for assuming that you don't know how hard it is to rip USFs, I do that by defualt not because I think you, or anyone for that matter, are uninformed, but because 9 times out of 10, people really don't know how hard it is to rip this stuff. So, it's safer, in that regard, to assume that people don't know, and explain it, than to assume that they do know, and not explain it, and then have them make an even bigger fuss about it.
I'm sorry you felt I was being rude. As for "that or I am susceptible (grammar?)..." I think you mean "that, or you think I'm an idiot/moron?" To which I must answer "Of course not." I've just seen so many people bypass the obvious routes (namely reading the FAQs and other material (looking through formum threads, which is a little hard here, since there's no search feature)) that I sometimes get slightly annoyed when I see it again. If you have read the FAQ, again, I'm sorry.
Hopefully that explains things a little better. As always, if you have a question, feel free to ask. But, if there's already a FAQ available, please read that first. Then you can ask your question. :) Thanks for reading my long post. Mouser X over and out.
