I'm probably missing something obvious but what plugins are required to be installed for the 'Skin the window in current Winamp skin style' option to not be greyed out? Is it the Media Library?
correct, it needs gen_ml to be present (you don't need the rest of the library if not using it and you can just hide the library window).
it's due to the skinning code needed being in the library (long story due to historical reasons) and due to what was going on at the time, it was the easiest way to fix a different issue with the plug-in.
when 6.x comes out next year, the gen_ml requirement will be removed (only a decade after i asked the devs at the time to do something about it).
my main concern is what comes out as 6.x isn't instantly slated and doesn't break everything which interacts with Winamp. otherwise compared to the alternative of what could have happened, we're as in best a place as we can be imho (as i know what some of the alternatives were and they wouldn't have been good seeing what those options have produced in the months since those discussions).
as i'm gradually going through things as time allows and for some aspects making major internal changes - though it often looks the same on the outside to help improve performance and so on.
which in some cases might cause 3rd party plug-ins to break. it isn't a malicious thing but is something where if we need to change the basic implementation for the better of the default Winamp install (as most don't appear to have 3rd party plug-ins present in them anyway from what the old anon stats indicated).
as i expect vgmstream is going to have problems (but then that's something which it's always seemed to have).
