UF's crappy music by unknownfile at 5:07 PM EST on November 5, 2006
I recently got a keyboard and GarageBand, as well as Cubase SE (I need this all for schoolworkstuffs). To practice my l33t keyboard skillz, I have decided to make compositions which I will be posting here as often as I can.
To start us off, here's a crappy little piano, bass and drums piece to which I gave the title "Cows Can Fly."
You know, there's that joke about the bass player and the drummer who defenestrated from the fourtieth floor of a skyscraper. Wanna know how their impact sounded?
Ba-Bump!
Anyway, do you want the others to comment your work, or will this be a one-man thread? For the first attempt, it was not that bad. You should, however, try to get some more sense of rhythm. The percussion seemed to be a bit messed up in that aspect. Maybe a metronome in the back would help (even professional drummers use these in studio). And as already pointed out in that joke, the most crucial thing is that the rhythm group (usually consisting of drums, bass and guitar) have to be together. If bass and drums don't manage to create a solid rhythmic basis, you can already forget about the rest.
That's all I have to say about it for now. Keep practicing, maybe get some etudes for finger practice. Try to get some sense of rhythm. For a start, you might wanna listen to some jazz or rock stuff and try beating the rhythm on your knees. Once you got the hang of it, try to do it without music in the background. At the end you should have gotten a solid grasp of different rhythmics which should definitely help you playing a good and steady beat.
