Ikaruga Request by Blade at 7:15 PM EST on February 7, 2007
This has been bothering me for some time now, but I've been wondering if there's some way to get the Vox rips from this game, if not the individual Sound FX.
I know somebody riped the Dreamcast Audio ages ago, but I'd still like to know if the Gamecube Audio Vox samples can be ripped/recorded without the music garbling them up.
Nobody has them, and even if they did, nobody would give them to an inconsiderate prick like you. I'm one of the nicest people you can imagine, and if I had them even, I wouldn't give them to you.
Typically SE of any kind are not included in a USF rip. Much of the time it is trouble enough for someone to rip about 30 music tracks. Ripping hundreds of SE may be a little more than anyone is willing to do.
marioman: Ikaruga is a Dreamcast/GC game. There's a DSF rip of it, and I think HCS has the streamed files from the GC version. Howerver, to my knowledge, no one has the sound effects.
Also, what's up with you two? This board is usually a nice place. Your responses were not necessary, and they were definitely rude... So what if it's a few months old? It could have been worse. Sarcastic or not, I would prefer to take the nice approach where possible.
(One thing to note about my annoyance is my recent involvement in an extremely juvenile board. Most of the people are idiots, and I don't want to see that happen here. I realize that's very unlikely. I'm just informing you where my annoyance stems from.)
Blade: Sorry I couldn't help, but chances are that you're out of luck on this one. Mouser X over and out.
@Mouser: That just goes to show you what I know about the situation. For some reason, I thought that I had seen that game on the request list.
The main reason that I posted was to try to provide a nice, rational, non-sarcastic response.
@Everyone Else: I agree with Mouser. You guys are bring way too rude. Lighten up.
@Blade: The main thing I was trying to say it that usually there are so many SE in a game that it is impractical and/or undesirable to rip them. So, don't get your hopes up too high.
The best that you could probably do is somehow rip the SE yourself. (Whether it be a direct recording, or using some type of utility to extract the SE from the files on your DC disc.)
No clue. I am not at all familiar with DC development/hacking. I just know that there is a lot of homebrew stuff for the Dreamcast that may be able to help you. You should probably just do a search for sound dumping utilities for the Dreamcast.
Actually Blade, I'd suggest looking for the GC ISO. It's possible that the SE can be found on that disc. Yes, it will be ginormous compared to the DC version, but that's because, instead of being sequenced, the music is streamed. If the music is streamed, it is within the realm of possibility that the sound effects are also streamed.
Otherwise, I'd have to go with marioman. Do some searching for audio utilities. If all else fails, record them yourself. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I say ignore such people. Apparently, their number is rising, but they're not the majority yet. Hopefully, the useful atmosphere of this place will prevail. Mouser X out.
