Three cheers for JoshW!!! by Toasty at 2:09 AM EST on November 27, 2007
Title says it all. Thanks so much for all your hard work on the new USF sets!
by marioman at 7:45 AM EST on November 27, 2007
Don't forget the other USF rippers...
by Toasty at 5:34 PM EST on November 27, 2007
I know, but just yesterday a whole bunch of new sets came from him, so I wanted to say thanks. (Thanks to all the other rippers too, of course.)
by marioman at 10:07 AM EST on November 28, 2007
Glad to see that all of those sets are finally finished. Now maybe these Rare fans will quit bugging us about the Banjo-Tooie set. :P
by unknownfile at 11:48 AM EST on November 28, 2007
Rare sucks anyways.
by valiant at 1:11 PM EST on November 28, 2007
Sucking as in being good?
by marioman at 3:36 PM EST on November 28, 2007
They used to be OK, but their post-SNES games have been a little mediocre. (With the possible exception of Goldeneye?) The Donkey Kong Country/Land series was probably the last of their really good games. After that we got stuck with Donkey Kong 64, Banjo, Star Fox Adventures, etc.
by unknownfile at 10:13 AM EST on November 29, 2007
starfox adventures was the beginning of their journey down the toilet in my opinion. and viva pinata is stupid shit.
by valiant at 11:18 AM EST on November 29, 2007
Can't say anything about their post-2001-era, but I loved their SNES and N64 games. Especially Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble.

Even if their new games are bad, they still got one of the best sound departments in the industry.
by Arich Boss #3 at 2:04 AM EST on December 1, 2007
I'm not a rare fan, exactly, though I happen to enjoy their older games (DK, Banjo) to sheer extents. And on a musical scale, their music tends to kick serious ass (and I'm not just being a fan boy, because the Conker's Bad Fur Day score is one of the most atrocious game scores I've ever heard). Dave Wise and Grant Kirkhope are the best two musicians that the company has, in my absolute honest opinion.

Prime's last sentence pretty much sums it up....and I didn't even read it until right now.

>> Now maybe these Rare fans will quit bugging us about the Banjo-Tooie set. :P

Never mind. I was wrong.
by Arich Boss #3 at 2:33 PM EST on December 1, 2007
Perhaps it's because the set is incomplete?
by nensondubois at 4:10 PM EST on December 1, 2007
>> Now maybe these Rare fans will quit bugging us about the Banjo-Tooie set.

But not the San Fransisco rush set!
by marioman at 5:09 PM EST on December 1, 2007
@Arich Boss #3: I'm just being a little sarcastic. No set is perfect, and sometimes it is a good idea to just settle for a nearly perfect set. (Look at the Ocarina of Time for example.)

@nensondubois: Wasn't San Francisco Rush made by Midway? Am I missing something?
by Arich Boss #3 at 5:19 PM EST on December 1, 2007
I'm not complaining for no reason. It's isn't a "nearly perfect set" at all. Some instruments are nonexistent, some of the tempos aren't correct, and none of the tracks start at the very beginning.

I'm perfectly fine with what I've got, I'm just telling you that we've got a reason to bug you guys about the Banjo-Tooie set.
by holyice7 at 5:54 PM EST on December 1, 2007
Now Arich, Josh said he was looking into it. Just be patient and let these nice gentlemen do their thing.

And once we have the set with correct tempos, I'll gladly re-time it.

No, no, you've got it all wrong. I am being patient and I have been for nearly eight months. I've got the particular tracks that I want and I don't really have a problem with them, I'm just explaining to marioman that the problem is bigger than he thinks. He's trying to demagnify that fact and I'm sticking up for the rest of us who're waiting for the complete complete version.
by nensondubois at 9:36 PM EST on December 1, 2007
San Fransisco Rush was made by Midway which has great music all the way.
by marioman at 10:12 PM EST on December 1, 2007
For some reason I thought that your last post was meant that it was made by Rare.

Yeah, I would like to see it ripped too. I don't think that its music is as good as Rush 2 or 2049, but it's OK.
by nensondubois at 2:53 PM EST on December 2, 2007
What? I think it's the other way around music wise.
by marioman at 3:38 PM EST on December 2, 2007
It's probably that am not at all a fan of rock. It just doesn't appeal to me.
Nice by ZeaLitie at 12:05 AM EST on December 3, 2007
Ah, Rush 2's finished. The intro and High Roll are virtually the only tracks I love, but it's nice to finally have them come home in a proper set.

Last game I can think of with decent VGM is WCW Revenge, which had a memorable Starrcade theme. Only track I can think of, though.

Does WCW vs. nWo World Tour just need to be tagged? I have the cart and could probably identify where those themes are played.
by marioman at 7:17 AM EST on December 3, 2007
I think that it is ready to be tagged. I can't remember any problems being mentioned. Maybe Josh can confirm this?

If you can tag it, please do so. We need all of the tagging help that we can get.

Thanks.

What games currently need tagging maybe I can help.
by marioman at 4:34 PM EST on December 3, 2007
Basically anything that says preliminary. Aside from the tags that we have in progress:

- I have Harvest Moon 64 almost done, but I can't identify sparse0b and sparse1d.

- Tags exist for Mario Golf, but I am not sure why they are not up yet. Same applies to Castlevania: LoD.

- jurassicPieter posted tags for The World is Not Enough, but they haven't been timed yet.

- Omochao renamed files for Pokemon Stadium 2 and Earthworm Jim 3D, but they are not tagged. If he will post them again, and someone will tag/time them, then they will be done.

There may be more that I am not thinking of. You can just ask before you start tagging, and find out if it is OK to continue.

"- I have Harvest Moon 64 almost done, but I can't identify sparse0b and sparse1d." Just name them Unknown song 1 and 2. I have a few tags for Pokemon 2 if you want but it's only about 5 songs tagged (names only)

by marioman at 5:28 PM EST on December 3, 2007
I may do that for 1d, but I am fairly sure that 1b is for one of the festivals. If I would at least identify 1b, then I would be happy with that.
by nensondubois at 6:25 PM EST on December 3, 2007
Unknown Festival :)
by marioman at 8:21 PM EST on December 3, 2007
I'd rather not - it's probably one of the Winter festivals. That's enough to keep me looking. Does anyone here have the game?
by nensondubois at 8:28 PM EST on December 3, 2007
No but it can probably be found on DGEmu (the Dragon)
