Ocarina of Time sound effects? by Peppyman at 8:36 AM EST on February 14, 2008
Is there a way to extract the sound effects from the OOT rom? I love the ambient sound effects of birds and stuff it reminds me of playing the game years ago. The same with mario 64 the background noise of princess peach's courtyard.

I'd also like to know. I posted a thread to this effect about Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon - http://www.hcs64.com/mboard/forum.php5?showthread=7809 - didn't have any luck though :(

For Mario 64, yes, check out srip.
For the others, I don't know of a program that rips them.

Maybe i'll try wav recording on project 64 then. Won't find them all though.

This probably isn't exactly what you wanted, but here's a website with all(?) of the OoT sound effects: http://noproblo.dayjo.org/ZeldaSounds/

Not as cool as ripping them yourself, I know. ;)

I launch the srip program in the same directory as the rom but nothing happens. I also try dragging the rom ontop of the srip it does something but no extra files appear. What am i supposed to do?

I haven't tested the srip program but often when you drag the fil on the exe and it does something but the files od not show up it's possible that the working directory is somewhere else and the files are placed there.
I advise you to use the command-line and type commands.
If you don't know how to use that make a textfile with name run.bat and 2 commands:

srip "rom-name"
pause

and double click it(make sure it's run.bat, not run.bat.txt)

what do i do after this, it just says click any key to continue and then closes after i do so and nothing happens.
