- Would they have a problem with the files being ripped directly from the game, though?

- I'm not sure if they'd have a problem with the fact that the files are ripped from the game, but RapidShare, YouSendit, and Megaupload have the same exact rule (no copyrighted content), just with different wordings.
- by hcs at 11:24 PM EST on December 27, 2005
- Ok.
Well, we'll see what happens if someone tries it out with a new rip. It certainly seems like a good way to go.

- My computer is back up, and I'm seeding again. If anyone wanted something, I'm up and running, so feel free to grab it. Just keep in mind that I have about 20k up, so if it's slow, sorry.
Sorry it took me about a week, but my computer needed some work to get back up (I need a new CPU fan. The one in my computer right now has bad wiring, and doesn't work qute right. And, since I don't want my CPU to melt, I have to fiddle with the thing every time I turn on my computer so that it will run).
Anyway, please enjoy! Mouser X over and out.

- Hey, Mouser. Do you mind re-seeding all of your torrents, such as the Shadow Adventure ones? About the entire tracker's torrents are dead. If you could re-seed your stuff, I would most appreciate it. Thanks.
- by Mouser X at 2:34 PM EST on December 30, 2005
- Sorry about that. My connection died earlier today, and I wasn't able to get it back up (I don't own the connection, and as such, I don't have the password for it, so I wasn't able to restart it when the computer it's on (not mine) BSODed). It's up now, and hopefully will be for some time.
But, in case you were interested, I did re-seed everything when I got back up, since I could see that it was all in need of it (where did Emil go?).
Glad I could help. Mouser X over and out.

- Thanks for gettting back to your seeding duties Mouser. Right now I'm trying to download both Shadow rips, and both PSO rips. If I manage to get them I'll help out seeding for a couple weeks or so.

- Just an update for File Front. Irasu from Rockman Perfect Memories has posted a full-length video that was directly ripped from the new Mega Man game for the PSP on File Front.
My point is, if File Front will allow a video ripped from a disk image to exist on their site, I would imagine that they would have no problem with GC music. (By the way, the download speed is about 100 KB/s - much better than Bit Torrent.)
Just something to think about.

- If we had enough seeds, BitTorrent would blast 100k out of the water. As it is, I seem to be seeding almost everything, most of the time, and I only have 20k upload to work with. So, BitTorrent is, in my opinion, much better than most direct download services (better speed, better bandwidth distribution among those hosting files), as long as there's enough people seeding the torrents.
So, in the current situation, then yes, I'd basically agree that getting these files on a server would be a good thing (I don't have an always-on, 100% stable connection either, so I can't be seeding 24/7, though I do try). Anyway, just my 2 cents in defense of torrents (as long as the situation is a good one). Mouser X over and out.
- by marioman at 5:21 PM EST on January 4, 2006
- Yeah, exactly. If we were a huge site with numerous visitors a day, then Bit Torrent will probably be a good solution. However, I think that it is kind of a waste of time when I have to wait for 6 hours to download 60 meg of music files. Even a site with a restricted download speed would be better than that. In this situation a server with a reliably high download rate would be optimal.
Mouser, just to clarify, I am not at all discounting your seeding efforts. Thank you for your dedication to distributing these sets. However, I am all about making things better. (That may be a bad habit of mine, but...oh well.) So, by making this suggestion, I do not really mean that you are doing a bad job of seeding; I am just stating that some things may be able to be better than they are now. I hope that you understand - I try not to be a perfectionist.
Thanks.
- by hcs at 5:32 AM EST on January 5, 2006
- I've generally had a distaste for free file hosting services, but if the people ripping are willing to put them up there I'll be the last person to complain. I just set up the BT tracker because we were using BT at the time (as the first few sets were popular it worked well) and we wanted to avoid using other slow or poorly run public trackers.
And while this isn't a huge site, we do get hundreds of visitors daily...

- Well, I just found this site today, and there's not much info about it. However, it says it has unlimited storage space, and unlimited bandwidth. It will serve/host files that are up to 100mb. Take a look and see what you think for yourself. http://www.bjwaymods.net/
However, the owner says they reserve the right to delete any file they don't want to host. So, while it does sound pretty nice, I kind of don't think DSP sets would stay on it for to long. But who knows? It does host lots of stuff (at least, it looks like it does to me). Mouser X over and out.

- I just finished getting it.
Why didn't you include the two variants of each track from the AIX?
- by BazzatManBowlin at 9:21 AM EST on January 27, 2006
- I plan to upload those seperately. Not to say that they aren't important - they are perfect for sampling. (Me being a FruityLoops enthusiast.) I just figured that it'd save space uploading the regular music. It sounds like if you mixed the variants together... they'd produce an alternate song.
If you'd like me to take down the current SEGA GT 2002 torrent and re-upload it with the variants, I'd have no problem doing that.
- by hcs at 9:32 AM EST on January 27, 2006
- Do what you want with the torrent. I just wanted to know if you were going to just put up the "complete" ones. I think it is a little different, though, not just the combination of the other two.

- I'd love to get the sound track to Super Monkey Ball 2. I had no idea it was even possible to get that data. Unfortunately there aren't any seeds for SMB2's torrent, is there any way I could get a reseed? I promise I will leave the torrent open for a long long time. Thank you!

- Pok?mon Colosseum music is sequenced.
- by Mouser X at 9:31 PM EST on February 9, 2006
- I'm seeding SMB2 (sort of). The reason you might not see it up right now is because someone hasn't noticed that I'm seeding almost everything on the HCS tracker. Currently, someone is trying to download 20+ things, and I dont' have enough bandwidth to support that much all at once. So, I've stopped some torrents from uploading, and my client will put others into the "queued" mode. I haven't stopped SMB2, so it might have been queued when you looked. Just get on the torrent, someone will be along to upload to you eventually (but you'll have to be very patient. I only have a maximum of 20kbs to work with, and when downloading stuff, that's cut down to 15kbs). So, it's up right now, but I can't garantee how long that will last, how fast it will be, or how stable it will stay up. But, it will get to you eventually.
If it helps, I've even stopped some more torrents (even though they're currently uploading) to make some more room. Hopefully that helps. Mouser X over and out.

- >> What format is Colosseum actually in?
First of all, I do not know if you saw the post by BigCN401.
If the music is sequenced, then it will not be supported by in_cube. (In the near future at least.)
Therefore, it really won't matter what format it is in unless you are planning to develop something that will play sequenced GC music.
- by Mouser X at 12:08 PM EST on February 10, 2006
- For those wondering, I'm not seeding anything on the HCS tracker right now becuase my PC is not functioning properly. The hardrives are reading horribly slowly, so I was going to defrag them. However, I can't do that because the defragging software, which is proplerly installed on my machine (as far as all indications show), can't find the computer which it is installed on... Yah, that's odd, and it's a problem. Somethings wrong, and I don't know what it might be. Hopefully, I'll be able to get it working properly soon. Mouser X out.

- http://leechar.5gigs.com/webseeding.html <-- I stumbled accross this today.
I managed to set it up on my webhost, and it works quite well.(not all BT clients can download from the webseed though.)
Basically if there are no seeds, the webserver kicks in to seed. Thought it might be useful ;)
- by hcs at 9:05 AM EST on February 11, 2006
- The thing is I'm using bittorrent because I don't have a server with enough space to store the sets. If you can host them on your server...
- by PokeParadox at 9:23 AM EST on February 11, 2006
- Actually I can ^_^
I'm not sure if my host would bitch at me for it though... :/
But yeah space is not a problem:
25GB space and 510GB monthly transfer.
I think we might be able to work something out.
- by Mouser X at 10:18 AM EST on February 11, 2006
- That sounds like a pretty cool deal. I'm not sure exactly how much stuff the HCS tracker has going right now, but since the beggining of Dec. it's only transfered about 400gb (yah, that's still quite a bit, but nowhere near your 510gb a month). I have 10-15gb of stuff on my PC from the HCS tracker, and I don't have all of it (though I do have the majority of it). I'm sure the lesser downloaded stuff could be left off, if you wanted to save disk space.
As for me and my hardrive problems, I'm still working on it. But, things have been picking up, so it might have just been a serious fragmentation problem. Hopefully I'll be able to start seeding again soon (give me another day or 2). Mouser X over and out.

- I'm setting up a test torrent of 1080 Avalanche ADP files.
I will seed it until I go to bed, in which case, the seeding server should take over (and/or other seeds.)
Also it should be noted, that all files don't have to be backed up by the seeding server, traditional seeding can be done too.
What I'm not sure about, is if my hosting will complain at me for this sort of thing and a method for users to add there own files/torrents to the webseed... most probably just a few people will have access to the FTP to upload DSP sets...
EDIT: Well it might not be ready anytime soon... it's taking a while to transfer the files to my host... In any case I WILL set up this test torrent... and post the link here... so watch this space.

Also, I would like to look at the Pokemon Colloseum music files to see if they are in any way similar to the Pokemon XD .ISD files(since they share much of the same music)
- by marioman at 12:43 PM EST on February 13, 2006
- OK, as long as you are trying to be productive, and not annoying. If you find the files, be sure that you let hcs know what format they are in.
By the way, am I the only one that think that it is HILARIOUS that the new Pokemon game is called XD?
It almost suggests that the game is about fanboys saying:
I R 2B A 1337 POKE'MON FANBOY!!!! XD POKE'MON = ROXORZ!! XD XD XD POKE'MON PWNS!!!111oneoneone XD XD XD XD XD XD XD
See what I mean? Bad choice on a name for the game.

- Let me translate that [sarcasm] wonderfully kind [/sarcasm] remark.
We saw your thread, and it appears that we do not have it and nobody knows where to get it. If you want it, I would recommend looking for MP3s, or extracting the DSPs yourself. Please note, however, that according to the GC Stream Database the DSPs do not loop properly. That may make the MP3s more desirable than DSPs. I do not know.
To stay on UNKNOWNFILE's good side, please remember one of the #1 rule of forums. No answer = I do not know. It appears that he got irritated about that.
Sorry I can't help more.
- by CGally81 at 5:33 PM EST on February 13, 2006
- Sorry. The reason I reposted in here was because I figured I had asked in the wrong place.
And though DSPs do not loop properly in it, they might work with a later update, so collecting them early might still be worth it.
- by hcs at 1:16 AM EST on February 14, 2006
- Ok, so collect them. And send them to me so I can get them working.
- by CGally81 at 2:32 AM EST on February 14, 2006
- ?
I think it's beyond my means to collect these songs. I'm not a hacker or such. I was simply referring to collecting them in general. Someone must have ripped them to being with, or else the information that they do not loop properly would not have been known.
- by marioman at 2:51 AM EST on February 14, 2006
- Here is where I found the information. Maybe you can try to contact the person listed there. Hope that this helps.
- by hcs at 4:57 AM EST on February 14, 2006
- Most of these files are trivial to rip from an image of the game. If you can't dump the image yourself you can likely find it online. Then use a program such as GameCube Explorer to find and extract the DSP files.

- BigCN410, I think that hcs was asking if Omochao was going to persist.
Nonetheless Omochao, all of us are trying to be very kind about the issue. (Exception: UF, BE NICE. :-) Do not run people off.) Anyway, if you have the means and time to get the files, please do so. We rather do not have the time or are uninterested. So, I would imagine that you would get MUCH farther if you just did the ripping yourself.
Please do not be so persistent. We know that you want to know what format the files are in, and we know that you want them, and we know that you must have them, etc. But, please have some restraint as to how often you ask us to do that - we can read old posts as easily as we can read new ones. You may even get more help if you do not annoy people with repetitive posts.
Well, I have said enough. I hope that you understand Omochao.

* I do have the facility to rip music from GCN games.
* I have replied on the forum stating I will rip the game and the files, when I get around to it.
* I do NOT have time to do this now, and expecially not "right now, this instant."
* I do not see much of a point in doing this as you have inferred that you have the facility to rip the files.

Oddly enough, if I had the money, I'd be doing that right now. Buying games just to rip out the music, that is. Actually, saying that reminds me. Just last week, I convinced my little brother (who has money) to buy Sonic Heroes for the PS2. I tried to extract the audio files from it using adXtract, but I had no luck. Since it was bought used, I took it back, and traded it straight across for Megaman X: Command Mission. Hopefully, I'll have much more luck getting ADX files out of this game than I did from Sonic Heroes. If all goes well, I may be able to start a torrent for them. And, being used, I can take it back within 7 days of purchasing it, and get all the money back for it (which would be a good thing, since I don't have money to pay my little brother back with).
As for Gamecube games, I don't have the means necessary to extract the data off the discs, so all I can do is download them. I can't even do that right now due to lack of time, drive space, hardware problems, and the list goes on... Anyway, hopefully I can get some valid ADXs from MMX:CM. Mouser X over and out.

Thanks for your work.

- WOAH!!!! I STRONGLY disagree here buddy! Seriously, marioman has been here A LOT longer than you. He was doing a good job of being "the good guy" here, and you keep pestering people, insisting that it's not pestering? Could you please define these terms for me? They seem to be the exact oppasite of what I always thought they meant. Seriously, look at what you're doing. You come here and say "Hey, can I get these files? Please?" When no one responds, you ask again. People tell you they either don't have the files, or that they're sequenced and therefore unplayable by any currently known means. Then, you ask AGAIN after you've already been told it's not worth it. When they tell you to drop it, you CONTINUE in your pestering, saying that you're not persisting. Look that word up, because that's EXACTLY what you were doing. And then, when you're told no AGAIN, you still keep at it. When marioman, who has been the nicest one at the moment (well, in that he didn't cuss you out (I won't mention names, but that shouldn't be hard to figure out), and that he tried to explain things in a calm manner), tells you that he's helped you all that he could, and that it was YOU who didn't get it, then you get mad at him? At least he made an effort! Go look for the game yourself. Find those who have it, and see if they'll be nice enough to tell you where to get it, or how to get it. DON'T bash marioman, when it's OBVIOUSLY you who didn't get it!
Of course, I expect this to receive a bashing from you as well, but I don't care. You know why? Because you haven't been paying attention to anything anyone has said here. Please read over the posts again, and pay attention to what marioman has said. Hopefully, you'll notice that it was indeed him who was trying to be nice about this whole thing. If you don't notice that, then, once again, go look in a dictionary. You seem to be getting words and their meanings mixed up A LOT!
You might also notice that I haven't posted anything about this discussion yet. That's because it was nicer for me to remain silent, than it was to tell you how much you were screwing up. Please rethink your strategy on interacting with other people, because it looks like it needs improvement. Mouser X over and out.
[EDIT] I'd do a more extensive edit, but I'm running way late. Gamestop allows you to return it after 7 days, if you bought it used. I don't know about other stores.

- "As for Gamecube games, I don't have the means necessary to extract the data off the discs, so all I can do is download them." - Mouser X
It's funny but also sad that it's the opposite for me. I can extract data from GCN disc but I only buy games that I like or I just don't have the money to buy them (money have been going towards DS games XD; ). This limits to what I cna rip.
I DO have an ISO of Pokemon Colosseum but I won't bother ripping out the sequenced and sampling files (I assume they are since it's in the "audio" folder) because of the situation. plzkthxbye

- I am NOT pestering anyone.
I am sorry if you think I am.
marioman, I apologize for annoying you.

- Apology accepted. Hope to work with you on better terms in the future.

- If someone can provide me with the Colosseum music files, I will post some .USF taggings that I have done.
- by unknownfile at 1:42 PM EST on February 20, 2006
- Wrong format!
Game over, you lost. Mainly because you suck.
TEH EDN.
OK, I'm not going to be keeping *any* of my DSPs anymore from Metroid Prime anymore, they're eating up disk space.
- by Omochao at 1:47 PM EST on February 20, 2006
- UNKNOWNFILE, get out of here!
- Ban that sucker by ugetab at 4:56 PM EST on February 20, 2006
- I know everyone here is really tolerant, and trying to be helpful...but just get rid of Omochao at the IP level. PHP supports the 'die' command to keep people out of places they're not supposed to be.
He doesn't appreciate the help, he's not listening to the people that do help him, and he's insulting people who are being polite enough to try, even those who don't rightly insult him for how much of an ignorant newbie he's being.
so...Omochao, don't forget that you're allowed in here by the good graces of someone who could ban you if you make yourself enough of a nuisance to be worth the trouble. Recovering some semblance of an image may be possible, but not if you strut around talking like you own the people doing rips for you, and helping you, and putting up with you.

- Children, please.
Omochao, please don't speak unless you have a question to ask or an answer to volunteer. At least not in this thread. Feel free to start an "I HATE UNKNOWNFILE" thread for this purpose, I'm all for silliness in the right place.
UF, quit it.
ugetab, I appreciate your sentiment, but don't threaten people on my behalf. I can do my own threatening, like so:
I do not want to read any responses to this message in this thread. Any such messages, no matter how well thought out and politely phrased, will be deleted.
Feel free to discuss DSP distribution, however.

- Ba, I'll see if I can manage my time effectively enough to rip the damn files when I'm done with uni today... >_>
(I promise nothing - If I have a shitload of work to do, I'll be doig that instead. I'm just moving it up priority list, be grateful.)
EDIT: I tempted fate and got shitloads of work. Sorry! I'll get the files tomorrow.

- Pok?mon Colleseum by PokeParadox at 5:27 AM EST on February 22, 2006
- As someone previously mentiones, it appears to be sequenced, and I can only confidently find the sample files.
you can get them here:
Pok?mon Colleseum Samples
EDIT: Fixed url. :X

- PokeParadox, thank you for going out of your way to get Omochao his music. Now that we have this music up, let's get back to DSPs.
Thanks again.

Well, at least you tried. Too bad he didn't tell you that he was planning on getting the ISO himself. It would have saved you a lot of trouble.

- I've set up an fserv in #usf on irc.freenode.net. He'll be serving the SSBM HPSes for a while, and I might consider expanding into other territory with it.
(use !list for stuff)

- Sorry about all the trouble. In the meanwhile I was finally able to acquire the ISO though a fast torrent(which took forever to find)and I found a .FSYS that may actually contain the music itself.
http://rapidshare.de/files/13915150/bgm_archive.fsys.html
I attempted to open it with gfcsysd.exe but it said "Unknown File Format"
- by hcs at 6:05 PM EST on February 22, 2006
- That file is far too small to contain streamed audio. It's most likely sequenced, as has been discussed, and as such will not be playable with in_cube.
- by Omochao at 6:39 PM EST on February 22, 2006
- I still would like to know how to open that file so I can check to be sure. It probably isn't streamed, but it could be in some other playable format.

- I fixed up gcfsysd to work properly with that file.
gcfsysd 0.1.
Good luck using the extracted files. You can use an LZSS decompressor to decompress them to start with, but from there you're on your own. It's some sequence format with a lot of spaces (0x20).

- "bgm_archive.fsys" eh? I kinda missed that one >_>
"Well, at least you tried. Too bad he didn't tell you that he was planning on getting the ISO himself. It would have saved you a lot of trouble."
Doh! on the upside, I had to get my Game Cube <--> PC connection working again, so it wasn't a completely wasted endevour. And thanks for your thanks... or something. It's nice to know when effort is appreciated. ^_^
- by Omochao at 12:23 PM EST on February 23, 2006
- I can't seem to get the LZSS compressor to work.
gcfsysd 0.1 worked fine, though.
Also, if the files are sequenced, wouldn't that make them some sort of MIDI format?
EDIT:
hcs, I managed to figure out the compressor. It was seemed to be successful with decompressing mirrorbo_song(though it wasn't), but miraclebo_song and country_song both caused it to send an error report to Microsoft, which makes me think that you have made an error somewhere.
Noticed something else wierd. The compressed mirrorbo_song is 5 kb, but the file LZSS.exe gave me is only 1 kb.

- by hcs at 3:16 PM EST on February 23, 2006
- It's not my decompressor.
I saw the LZSS string at the beginning of each compressed file, complained to Josh about the lack of a utility to extract it, and compiled the one he found for me. Go bug Haruhiko Okumura about a program he wrote 17 years ago.
"Also, if the files are sequenced, wouldn't that make them some sort of MIDI format?"
It's most likely something like MIDI, but I wouldn't know MIDI if I saw it anyway.
There's also the distinct chance that the LZSS compression is different from what that decompressor is expecting to see. I've done all I can.

- by Omochao at 3:47 PM EST on February 23, 2006
- What I meant is that there might be an error in the extractor, not the compressor.
- by hcs at 5:23 PM EST on February 23, 2006
- you do realize you're supposed to be decompressing, not compressing, right?
as in:
lzss d country_song country_song.d
I tried that, and the files you mention seem to work fine.
- by Omochao at 5:38 PM EST on February 23, 2006
- That's what I've been trying.
It does say that it is in decompression mode.
EDIT: Tried running the extractor again. Made no difference.

- by hcs at 4:26 PM EST on February 24, 2006
- I don't know what to tell you, it seems to run fine on all the files. And it never produces a file smaller than the file it is decompressing from.
- by Omochao at 4:54 PM EST on February 24, 2006
- Can I see some of the files it gave you?
- by hcs at 5:25 PM EST on February 24, 2006
- here
- by Omochao at 4:02 PM EST on February 25, 2006
- Looks like they might be some sort of Amiga MOD format.
