And is Ys 3 actually any smaller with miniPSF2? ZD lists it as 9 MB already...
by unknownfile at 8:21 AM EDT on July 1, 2005
When it is unRARed as PSF2, the set's around 10.4 mb.

The Minipsf2 version weighs around 9.25 mb.
by unknownfile at 8:23 AM EDT on July 1, 2005
Oh yeah, and why is it that the GSF archive over at ZD hasn't been updated for a while?
by Mouser X at 8:55 AM EDT on July 1, 2005
There's a lot that hasn't been updated in awhile at zophar... I'm really starting to wonder what happened to them. Mouser X out.
by hcs at 1:51 AM EDT on July 2, 2005
I can't really figure out what's up with ZD myself... we all just stopped even trying to keep up with the news a while ago.
I still post USF and, occasionally, PSF updates. If someone could make a list of GSF and PSF updates that need to be made I could see that they are done.
by Vague Rant at 3:17 AM EDT on July 2, 2005
I'd love for someone to rip a QSF of Marvel vs. Capcom. But I'm not deluded enough to expect it to happen any time soon.
by unknownfile at 7:52 AM EDT on July 2, 2005
QSF is only limited to one sound chip, the Q-Sound chip.

That is why I am here today to propose a new format.

MSF (Multiple Sound Format), version 0x80, shall be packed like a QSF, except differently.

You can view my proposal here.

Got Megaman X7 working.

Filesize - 66.7 MB (so I can't post it here, otherwise hcs will need to pay for overages)

Todo's:

-Annoying static removal. To get these tracks to play right, I used spu2spu with an in block of 32.
It did get the tracks playing correctly, but with this annoying static. Turn your volume down to
hear the music.

-Loop. I need to add a looping point into the INI's. right now, the loop is set to null.

-Time. Since I haven't played the game all the way through, I will only time the set.
by Mouser X at 10:36 AM EDT on July 2, 2005
Since I'm not one to make new formats (or generally speaking, understand them), I'm probably the wrong one to ask. However, that aside, it looks good to me. If you really want it to take off though, make a few rips yourself (or find someone who can do it, or help you do it) and make a player for them (or find someone who can make one). The other option is to propose it at PSF_Rippers yahoo group. Not that that would be ahuge help, but it might.

There's my thoughts. I do like the idea, by the way. Good luck with it. On a side note, there's a fair amount of unreleased QSF rips. All of the Megaman Arcade games have been (that's what would interest me the most), but only 1 can be found. 1 was ripped by Neill, the other by zoopd. I've provided tags for Neill's set, but I've never even seen zoopd's set. Anyone interested? If yes, I'd be happy to provide the files.

Okay, that's it now. Mouser X over and out.
by R. Belmont at 11:34 AM EDT on July 2, 2005
MSF looks reasonable, probably moreso than continuing to change the version byte on PSFs :) If you make some rips for it I'll support 'em.
by hcs at 11:56 AM EDT on July 2, 2005
Regarding Megaman X7, if you can get that static issue fixed I'll clear out enough space for you to upload it.
by unknownfile at 12:23 PM EDT on July 2, 2005
MMX7 ain't gonna happen for a while, as I cannot do that all today. I might need at least two weeks to figure this stuff out, and one day won't cut it. I'v e only got 5 1/2 hours before I need to turn this thing off.
Mega Man: The Power Battle by marioman at 6:41 PM EDT on July 15, 2005
I too would LOVE to have the Mega Man: The Power Battle QSF rip. If I ask very, very nice, would there be a possibility that UNKNOWNFILE could rip it? I will be very grateful if you would.

By the way, thank you HCS and UNKNOWNFILE for taking the time to develop these great music formats. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
by Mouser X at 7:00 AM EDT on July 16, 2005
That game has already been ripped. However, it has not been released. It was ripped by zoopd ages ago, and I would have added track times/titles except that I've never seen it. If you have the MM rip by Neill, I have a batch that adds track times/titles.

There's actually a number of unreleased QSF rips, lying around somewhere. And I'm not refering to the rips Neill did. There's others, mostly done by zoopd. I just wish I knew where to find them, and how to get them. One of these days, I'm going to trole through PSF_Rippers and find all of the unfinished xSF sets that have been ripped, but not released (and yes, there's PSF as well as QSF out there. Onimusha 2 or 3 has been ripped, but never released).

Anyway, Just letting you know that a rip does exist, I just don't know where. Mouser X over and out.
Qsound rips by marioman at 9:10 AM EDT on July 16, 2005
>> Anyway, Just letting you know that a rip does exist, I just don't know where.

If a MMPB rip exists but cannot be downloaded, then it doesn't do anybody much good. In light of this, I am still waiting for a response from UNKNOWNFILE, and hoping that he will be kind enough to rip it.

If you could post that batch for Neill's MMPF rip, that would be GREAT. It would save me a lot of time. Thanks a lot.
by Mouser X at 10:28 AM EDT on July 16, 2005
UNKOWNFILE is away on vacation (or something) until sometime in August (I think. He might get back the last week of July).

As for posting a batch, you can now find it at my geocities webpage. However, you will need psfpoint to apply the changes. Apparently, it's slightly incomplete. There's 2 files that haven't been renamed, or titled, and it would seem that I didn't have the artist information either. However, they do have track numbers, times, and titles for all the songs that I could match up to the OST. I don't know why there's no artist data though.

If you see anything that could be improved upon, that would be appreciated.

Also, talking about rips esisting, but not available, other than Neill's, here's the ones I've been able to find info on:

Darkstalkers
Rockman the Power Battle
Alien vs Predator
Dungeons and Dragons the Tower of Doom
Vampire Savior
Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter
Mars Matrix
Dungeons and Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara

All of those were done by zoopd, and uploaded to Ranma's server. Yes, I realize that doesn't really help to many people here, since no one here (that I know of, including myself) knows how to get to, or has access to Ranma's server.

As far as QSF rips go, I'm pretty sure that Neill's and Zoopd's are the list of all the rips that exist. Unfourtunatly, only Neill's are available, and none of those have been tagged/timed. Well, not officially anyway. I believe there's a few batches available for 1 or 2 of Neill's sets, other than the one I made.

Anyway, my batch file can be found on my webpage here. Sorry about leading you to an ad filled geocities webpage, but I've already had my account suspended once for I don't know what reason. As such, I always send people to the index file when they want files off my site. That way, I can't be accused of off site linking.

Anyway, enjoy. And, if you know Ranma, or you know someone who knows Ranma, perhaps you can get the QSF rips form him. Hope that helps. Mouser X over and out.

Thanks Mouser X for the batch. It was a great help.

I know what the two unknown tracks are if you are interested:

22A - The music that is played at the beginning of the game while QSound logo is displayed.

22F - Elec Man's original theme. I have heard that it is sometimes played when you fight Elec Man.

Also, the artist for the album is the Capcom Sound Team.

I hope that these are a help to you.

UNKNOWNFILE , I guess that I will talk to you when you get back from camp. Have a great time.

The "Rockman: The Power Battle" rips sound somewhat similar to "Rockman 2: The Power Fighters."

Also, Jordan D. has already tagged both of the sets.

I also got a successful rip of Rockman: The Power Battle.

I wonder if there will be any sound emulation for Capcom's CPS-1 systems (The games that use the Yamaha YM2151 chip instead of the Capcom Q-sound.)

Also, thanks to Jordan D. for ripping Mega Man: The Power Battle. It is great. I am sure that Mouser X will be happy to get it too.

I can't thank you enough. Thanks.

Sorry marioman... Jordan D. did the tagging and I did the ripping. nZero did the mirroring of the two files.

Still wondering about YM2151 emulation.

Since I can't upload an update to the MSF format spec, I can post it here. Damn Windows for poor ftp support! *shakes fist*

MSF Format Specification v0.2
by Peter S. Conway
Revised on Friday July 22nd 2005
Uber abridged version

The header has been changed. The MSF format can now use either the code or reserved section but a marker must be placed after the initial MSF start position.

ASCII "MSF" to start
The next byte is a switch.
00h = Normal mode (reads from Reserved)
01h = M1 mode (tells the player to use the M1 dll by R Belmont for playback)
02h = Use zlib compression (reads from code section)

I'll type more on this subject on the 30th.
In the meantime, go download some music! ;)
MSF FORMAT RELEASED by unknownfile at 1:16 PM EDT on July 30, 2005
I have released the first MSF rip ever.

GET TEH SET HERE

I'll update the specification to the MSF format tommmorow.

And as for camp, it SUCKED ;p
by Mouser X at 10:07 PM EDT on July 30, 2005
So, uh, now that this format exists, where can I get the player for it (though you probably mentioned it, I didn't notice it. Sorry)? Also, you should send this info to Neill, as he is, after all, the "owner" of the PSF spec, after all. Though he hasn't posted anything on PSF_Rippers in a long time, I'm pretty sure that a new format based on the PSF spec would get a response out of him. If you want, I could send the information to him, though I really doubt there's any need for me to do that.

Also, because he is the owner of the spec, he might have some pointers to help you adhere to the specs more specifically. When HCS developed the USF format, Neill provided some help in a few areas so that it adhered closer to the PSF specs. Actually though, there's a few areas that HCS sort of "fudged around" to get USF working. One of these is the savestate feature. Using the savestate, you can remove the bootcode from the sets, and therefore cut down on uneeded space. Neill disagreed with that idea, but let it pass, as USF was HCS's idea. As such, he was free to do with it as he wanted, but that there were still areas that needed "cleaning." The use of Zlib was one of these. The earliest sets didn't use (or did they not even have?) the zlib section. As such, most PSF format tools would "choke" on the set, because they were unable to find the information that they expected to find there.

Now, I'm not saying the MSF format doesn't adhere to the PSF spec, as it probably does adhere just fine. What I'm saying is that Neill would probably like a heads up before it becomes an official deal. Then, there's also the fact of advertising the new format to those that are interested in ripping sets for it.

I don't know your skills (or anyone else's, for that matter) in ripping the audio out of arcade ROMs, but I get the impression that you could use some help in ripping, especially if you tried to take on ripping the majority of the sets yourself (as HCS has mostly done, or Caitsith2, as well, for that matter). Basically, what I mean by that is you need to get people interested that can actually help supply additional sets to the archive. Otherwise, it's left up to you, or it becomes a dead format (see DSF and SSF for examples).

After all of that, I have one other thing to say. Nice job. I mean it. If I recall, you said you're like, 12 (I could easily be mistaking you for someone else, so please don't take offense if I'm wrong. Also, you don't need to confirm that number, if you don't want to. I never tell people my age, over the internet. The closest you'll ever get from me is between 18 and 28 years old). As such, that's very impressive. I barely understand the technical garbage that is the PSF spec. In fact, though I've been wanting to rip USF sets, the truth of the matter is, once I get the ROM to only play the song I tell it to (and I'm a very long way off from that, mind you), I have absolutly no clue what to do next. All I know is that it's run through some batch ripper program. From that point, I'm lost. You however, have surpassed that. You may not know ASM (or if you do, perhaps not to the extent that you can rip any game you want), but you were still able to create your own format, and even supply us with a ripped set for us to sample from. That's impressive, especially for a 12 year old. Take that zoopd!!! Ha!

Okay, I'm done now. Hopefully, if all goes well with your MSF idea, you'll earn some needed respect and clout around the PSF community (and I don't mean here, I mean PSF_Rippers, which, technically, is PSF proper (though they certainly don't seem to enjoy inviting others onto the scene... Oddly enough)). Thanks for your great work, and good luck! Mouser X over and out.
by ninninetynine at 10:41 PM EDT on July 30, 2005
I don't know if MSF is really necessary(or QSF for that matter). If you use M1 you have over 1,000 games supported already(including all Qsound games). M1 supports a per song tagging system and most games are already fully tagged(in both English and Japanese).
I think I would like someone to read this. Oh yes, and this post is by unknownfile at 5:48 AM EDT on July 31, 2005
Just to clear a few things up...

-The MSF format is tentative, I have yet to make a player for it.

-The MSF format might never see the light of day as it was only an idea I thought up about a few months ago.

-I am 14 years old and the only assembly I know is swi (the ARM/THUMB software interrupt code)

-The reason I added the M1 emulation mode to the MSF spec was to allow people who don't know how to program to be able to rip MSFs automatically. That, and I don't like having to go back and forth from Winamp to BridgeM1. THERE SHOULD ONLY BE ONE PLAYER PLZ KTHX.

-The reason MSFs use the reserved section I forgot, but hopefully it'll be revised AGAIN soon enough.

Speaking of MSFs, I am now finishing the Puzzle de Pon M1-mode set. It should be up soon. And tacos.

Uh, okay. Hello, UNKOWNFILE. On a positive note, other than the all caps, you got my name right. Most people type it as either mouser_x, or Mouser_X, when in fact there's supposed to be a space, and no "_" but since I usually can't have a " " when getting a user name, I use the next best thing.

Anyway, goodluck with your endevours. Perhaps you can find someone to make a player (winamp plugin) for the MSFs? Mouser X over and out.

I am still waiting for your rips!

Puzzle de Pon M1 rip has been FIXED, because the ZIP start position was incorrect.

What's next?

Maybe FANTASY ZONE!

I am now taking requests, so you may post 'em here.

I'll support MSFs in the next AO of course, not that that helps you "everything must fit in Winamp" junkies ;-)

And I can add a "play from memory" entry point to the next M1 as well.
YAAAAAAAAAAY by unknownfile at 12:10 PM EDT on August 3, 2005

R. Belmont has just made my day.

Anyways, I hope that you can release the MSF player sourcecode thang, so that people can port it over to different media players (such as XMMS, Foobar2k, and Winamp).

And now, I must use Neill's SFA2 rip notes to manually rip Street Fighter Alpha 2.

Downloads are taking too long

I will instead do some m1 rips.

Have a nice day
by Mouser X at 7:28 PM EDT on August 3, 2005
Yes, I must concur with UNKNOWNFILE. Making the source available to the MSF player would brighten my day as well. However, since I'm no coder, that doesn't help me directly, though it does make it much more likely that a Winamp plugin will follow.

As for MSF or M1 sets, or whatever, I really know next to nothing about it, other than that it's audio from arcade games. As there's lots of arcade games out there, I assume that there's lots of good music as well. As such, I look forward to the success of the MSF format, so long as it gets support for Winamp soon. As for M1 files, I think I tried to listen/download the stuff for it, but I didn't get anywhere with the efforts. Oh well. Either A) I have patience to wait for Winamp support, or B) I'm missing out on all the M1 audio available. Oh well.

Anyway, goodluck with that, and hope to see progress soon. Mouser X over and out.
by ninninetynine at 7:44 PM EDT on August 3, 2005
To use M1 you just use the BridgeM1 frontend, and point it towards your MAME ROM folder and then select what game you want to listen to.
by R. Belmont at 7:47 PM EDT on August 3, 2005
Actually, thanks to you, I finally understand how to handle M1 in a Winamp context. You'd create little files that are .MSF or whatever which simply contain a set name and a command number. The plugin would have a one-time configuration where you'd point it to suitable ROMs and .LSTs for M1, and voila. Any song in the 1000+ games M1 supports can be part of a Winamp playlist. Rips would be dead easy to create, and as new versions of M1 came out so could new rips.

As a bonus you wouldn't need multiple copies of the ROM data around like you do for e.g. QSF and stuff.

And fear not about XMMS/BMP - I don't do things that aren't cross-platform.

by Mouser X at 7:48 PM EDT on August 3, 2005
You said you're taking requests? Well, I request the soundtrack to any game that includes Megaman, wether as a main character, playalble character, or even a very breif cameo. Also, any games that inlcude any characters from MM games (Roll, Tron, Rock (Megaman), ect.). Those are the sets I want. The rest are complete unknowns to me. As such, I'll wait until I can actually listen to the sets (preferably in Winamp, though AO is better than nothing (and in fact, looking at the supported files, it's actually really good)) before I start requesting anything.

As for AO's file support, that's a lot of formats. Does Winamp support all those files (as a 3rd party plugin, of course)? If yes, anyone have any idea where I can find the players, and files to listen to to try them out?

Again, thanks in advance. And this time, I really am leaving. Mouser X over and out.
by unknownfile at 4:08 AM EDT on August 4, 2005
Manual rips can also be made (if the MSF header has 0x00 instead of 0x01), but that's a bit too difficult for me to understand.

Minimsfs, in case you haven't read the spec, contain a marker at 0x5 in the reserved section that marks which song for M1 to play.

And yes I will be getting to work on some requests, but I don't know which games have megaman as a cameo.

Anyways off I go.
by unknownfile at 4:11 AM EDT on August 4, 2005
D'oh, I just realized that m1 doesn't have support for megaman. Oh well.

"Borrowed" times from Caitsith2's Fantasy Zone PSF2 set to use with the MSF set. Tags coming soon, but somebody PLEASE make an automated MINIMSF tool!!!!!1

Please avoid requesting games which aren't supported by M1, as I have little programming skill and don't know what to do to modify ROMs and all that rubbish.

Undercover Cops by unknownfile at 3:24 PM EDT on August 11, 2005
I have recently been doing some work on an arcade game called Undercover Cops, which is one of the better Street Fighter clones. Anyways, I managed to trace some music functions.

CPU 1

0x0a000a - The currently playing song
0x0a0040 - Playing marker (0x01 for stop, 0x09 for play)

I currently have no plans to rip this game to MSF as of now.
by unknownfile at 12:27 PM EDT on August 12, 2005
This is where I have good news.

I'm about to make an MP3 of Undercover Cops (Japan).

Thus far, I have not been able to find out as to how make MSFs out of it, because I do not know any sort of assembly (the game uses V30/V33 CPUs.)
Project Yuuki by unknownfile at 10:08 AM EDT on August 15, 2005
Hey guys, you might be wondering what that "Project Yuuki" thing in the MOTD section on my frontpage is.

Believe it or not, it is a project I have been attempting for the last little while that, when completed, will be able to automatically make a m1-mode MSF set. As such, I am going to have to find out how to get it to write a msflib then a bunch of minimsfs.

As of now, msfmake (which is based heavily on rom2usf) can only write a header. Whenever I've tried to add in the zipfile's length detection code into msfmake.c, Visual C fails saying something that I can't remember. Project Yuuki will change all this difficulty and will proceed to do the following:

1) detect a ZIP file size and write it into the MSF header
2) Automatically print 255 minimsfs
3) tag each minimsf with _lib=lib.msflib and msfby=Project Yuuki

If anyone here is willing to help, please let me know. Otherwise, I shall be waiting to be kicked in the nuts for me wasting your time on you reading this.
Heh by R. Belmont at 7:54 PM EDT on August 15, 2005
You're still trying too hard. I gotta get the reference player working before you do too much more of that ;-)

In reality, m1-mode msfs will just need to contain a zipname and a song number. My prototype Winamp plugin actually totally ignores the zip data part, it just needs those two things and the ROMs someplace it can find them. Once it stops crashing I'll post a copy ;-)
by unknownfile at 4:33 AM EDT on August 16, 2005
Does the thing have a tag editor, like in the other xSF players? If so, then I can finally get around to tagging and timing. :)

MSF must die! by unknownfile at 8:08 AM EDT on August 25, 2005
Well, I have decided that MSF has just been a really big waste of time over the last little while, so I have at last decided that it will be dismantled soon. It currently has no purpose other than to waste hcs' space which he oh so needs for other things.

The site will be dismantled the second Tuesday of September, 2005. Perhaps when I can actually create a format that actually works, and is actually worthwhile working on, I'll try to ressurrect it.

I thank you for your time, if you actually read this entire post.

--Peter S. Conway.
by Mouser X at 10:25 AM EDT on August 25, 2005
Personaly, I think MSF is a good idea. However, there's just no players for it yet (though, as I recall, one is in development). Also, if you could automate the ripping process for those that are M1 compatible, then it would open up a huge amount of possible rips that could, maybe, work with this upcoming player. I say give it some time, perhaps things aren't as bad as you think. Mouser X over and out.
by unknownfile at 11:29 AM EDT on August 26, 2005
Well, I have myself decided this "m1-mode" rubbish should be obliterated and that I should rerip the existing sets manually. However, I will be enduring high-school. That, and I'm at the Glasgow airport, awaiting the flight home. Anyways, I might consider moving MSF discussion over to my forums. Have yourself a good day. :D
Undercover Cops MSFs done! by unknownfile at 12:38 PM EDT on August 27, 2005
Well, I've finished ripping Undercover Cops (both regions - Japanese and World) but with just one problem:

The entire ROM is the MSFLib, so I can't distribute it.

It's all tagged and stuff, but so far I have not been able to clean out the unneeded data.

NOTES ON THIS MSF RIP:

The "sound test" mode does not play songs for over 4 seconds, and it would be against rules if I did that anyways. I then discovered that by placing a single byte at a certain offset in memory would start playing the music, regardless of the systems status. As such, I made a savestate at the WORK RAM LOW NG screen so that the game would do nothing. However, during this time, the game is still running cycles. The music system's been initialized and stuff, it just hasn't been instructed to do anything. I chose this point, because the game is doing nothing at this point but awaiting reboot and displaying the message. No controller input is being requested for as of that moment, so it seems logical to start the rip from there.

RIP NOTES:

Game uses NEC V33/V30 CPUs for main processing.
Audio system is a dual Yamaha 2151 chip and an IREM GA20.

Music byte for Japanese version resides at 0A0009 on CPU 1.
Music byte for World version resides at 0A004F on CPU 1.

Savestate slot is slot C in MAME.

Well, recently in the shower, inspiration came to me. I asked myself, why not host an xSF net radio show? I kept this idea in my head thinking it was just uberstupid, but today, I just thought of it again and thought that it could be a good idea.

So, any oppinions?
by hcs at 2:45 PM EDT on August 30, 2005
@R. Belmont:
So you're actually working on an M1-based winamp plugin? If you need any help I can offer my minimal winamp expertise... it seems like it'd be easy to plug M1 into something.
by Mouser X at 6:49 PM EDT on August 30, 2005
HCS, thank you VERY VERY much for your VGM Bookmarks. I was able to locate the info. I needed to finalize (make sure I had all the tracks, correct track #s, ect.) some albums that have been incomplete on my Hardrive for about 2 years. Thanks you so much!

Since that was such a big help, I'm going to ask you to keep an eye out for the "Super Robot Wars Alpha" OST. No, I'm not asking you to search for it, but I am asking that, if you happen to see it, or anything related to it (that contains track titles, preferably with artist info.) to let me know where to find it. It would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. As always, feel free to ignore this, but any help you can provide would be appreciated. Mouser X over and out.

Something that might help you is searching for "Super Robot Taisen Alpha", as it is more commonly known, even in English.

By the way, did you intend to post that in this thread?

by Mouser X at 9:52 AM EDT on August 31, 2005
You know, I think i accidently posted that in the wrong thread... I really can't say how that happened. Yah, I'm pretty sure I goofed on that one, somehow... Part of what happened is that I was going to post (probably lost track of what thread I was in) and accidently clicked submit, without having written anything. Since I couldn't delete the message, I figured I might as well put it to good use, so I edited it, and put that stuff there. Nonetheless, I still don't know how I got it in here (though I'm pretty sure that's where I posted it to...)

Anyway, thanks for the info. I'll definatly look into it. Mouser X over and out.
by hcs at 11:24 AM EDT on August 31, 2005
someone else once reported a problem with posting to the wrong thread... but I've checked over the code and I can't see anything to cause it.
by Mouser X at 12:08 PM EDT on August 31, 2005
That's not the problem. I'm 90% certain I posted in this thread (I remember seeing some of the other messages when posting). Apparently, I thought I was somewhere else... In other words, it was user error, not forum error. Oh well. Sorry about that. Mouser X over and out.
Fixeight bootleg by unknownfile at 3:18 PM EDT on September 4, 2005
I have been able to make a music modifier for the bootleg version of our favorite 1-hit-kills-you arcade shootemup, Fixeight. (Take note, R. Belmont.)

Name - Music modifier
Type - Normal/Delay
One-Shot - On
Operation - Set/Clear Bit
Set/Clear - Set
Data - 13 (19)
User Select - On
Address - 108000

Note - if music is already playing you must wait for the sound processing function to eat this new song number.

HOORAY FOR THREAD RESSURECTION.

I have successfully made Mawaru Wario be recognized by Saptapper, though it just crashes and gives static.

Also, the not-so-long awaited Undercover Cops MP3 rip is complete. I would like to request permission to start seeding it next weekend.
by marioman at 11:14 AM EST on November 26, 2005
Congrats on the Mawaru Wario GSF success. That will be an interesting one to hear.

Who are you going to submit the set to when you are finished? I have been trying to submit a set to CaitSith2 for quite a while, but to no avail.

Thanks for your help.
by hcs at 11:35 AM EST on November 26, 2005
Permission granted, the tracker is at your disposal. Ask Mouser about how to upload if you don't know already.
by unknownfile at 12:19 PM EST on November 26, 2005
Mawaru Wario was able to work by me merging two different roms together (upper chunk of Densetsu no Stafy 3 and lower chunk of Mawaru Wario, starting at the Sappy bank). And as of now, it just crashes and goes into an endless loop.

And UCCops is seeding on the tracker.

The SoA DSF tracks and other DSF/SSF stuff can be found here:

http://www.neillcorlett.com/etc/htdemo

The SOA Test track is on the OST as 219 - Bombardment 2.
by hcs at 7:26 AM EST on December 1, 2005
Notably in that directory there are working DSFs for Ikaruga. I have the ADPs of this game and used them during testing of in_cube, but they're about 500x bigger than the DSF set.
by PokeParadox at 8:27 AM EST on December 1, 2005
hmm, what exactly are the DSFs? I realise they're a type of ripped format, but from the Game Cube?
by unknownfile at 8:40 AM EST on December 1, 2005
No, they're Dreamcast. The format was started by Neill but was never finished.
by Vague Rant at 3:58 PM EST on December 1, 2005
The Ikaruga DSFs (and perhaps all others, I didn't really bother after trying them) are rather system intensive. I'm on an ancient 500 MHz processor, and I can't recommend listening to them on similar. I think it'd be possible to make them playable if you closed down absolutely everything else running, but if, like me, you like to actually use your computer while it plays music, you'll probably want to give it a miss.
by hcs at 4:16 PM EST on December 1, 2005
Still, it's the best way to get the music. Set up the disc writer, it'll take a while to generate, but then you'll have the WAVs (for conversion to MP3 if you desire) to play at leisure.

Anything on GSF central marked with "delayed" means that they are dead and buried.
by marioman at 12:31 PM EST on December 2, 2005
Oh well, at least you tried.

I have asked a number of times, and the answer seems to evade me. Is there anyone other than CaitSith2 who can post a GSF set on GSF Central for me? I have E-mailed my submission to CaitSith2 a number of times and have not gotten as much as a response.

The reason I keep bringing it up is because I know that UNKNOWNFILE once said that he was "t3h l337 admin" of GSF Central. (To quote UF from the first page of this thread.) Furthermore, he offered to put up a set for Koji. He says that he no longer holds that position, but I am hoping that he can direct me someone who CAN help me. If UF would be so kind to give some type of response, I will be happy.

Thanks for your help UF.

CS2 is still alive, just fairly inactive. Ask him on #psf on irc.zirc.net or #usf on irc.freenode.org.
by marioman at 5:44 PM EST on December 2, 2005
OK, I kind of guessed that he was taking a break, but I was not absolutely sure. Furthermore, I do not use IRC and I am not interested in getting started with that at the current time. Oh well, maybe he will actually check his E-mail in the near future.

Thanks.
by unknownfile at 7:40 AM EST on December 3, 2005
uber update on GSF Central. Listen till ya spooge!
by marioman at 11:40 AM EST on December 3, 2005
YAYZ!!! Thanks CS2!!!!!
by unknownfile at 1:50 PM EST on December 3, 2005
...even though I updated it
by marioman at 3:02 PM EST on December 3, 2005
Oh really? I thought that you were not affiliated with them anymore. Obviously I am confused - sorry about that.

Well, in that case....

THANK YOU UNKNOWNFILE!!!!
by unknownfile at 3:14 PM EST on December 3, 2005
Caitsith2's been fixing some code in GSF Central up, hopefully the upload function should be made public soon
by unknownfile at 3:04 PM EST on December 13, 2005
OK, folks, the moment you've all been waiting for.

MEGAMAN X7 PSF2 SET

is now LOOPING and STATIC FREE

Don't believe me? Then click here.

In addition to this, I have removed a lot of files from my part of the server so don't be surprised if you get bad links.

OK... so the Megaman X7 set is ready...

... now, where do we download it?

I mean... I click on the link and I get to download only a single file (the final stage one). Is there a problem or something?

Anyway... thank you for your time and sorry for the annoyance.
by unknownfile at 3:36 PM EST on December 13, 2005
Rapidshare: MR DOWNLOAD LOLZ

And it isn't ready yet, it still needs tagging and timing.

It has been confirmed this set is missing 20 tracks, but I will not be including them as they will most likely be containing spoilers to the story.

COMING SOON: Rayman 2 PSF2 Experimental Rip O' Doom!

Game uses 0x800 byte interleave. Music is stored in THEME.VAG.
by F3582 at 1:56 AM EST on December 20, 2005
Hey UNKOWNFILE, why don't you ask Lawrence Lin to host your PSF releases? His mirror is one of the best and most frequently visited out there and I'm sure that he'll host yours, too.

by unknownfile at 4:19 AM EST on December 20, 2005
They are incomplete and possibly buggy, and they could be against PSF standards.
by F3582 at 12:49 AM EST on December 21, 2005
Well, he has a WIP section...
by unknownfile at 6:49 AM EST on December 21, 2005
The set is complete, it is now awaiting tags. Join #usf on irc.freenode.net, and if I'm around, then I might take pity on you. Note, the set is over 140 MB, and some tracks contain voices and sound effects which were unavoidable.

Some of the tracks contain more than one song in addition to that.

Great news:

Megaman X7 is in the TAGGING process! Yay!

A complete set should be released onto the tracker this Christmas. If not, then Boxing Day is fine with me too.
by hcs at 5:56 AM EST on December 22, 2005
and there's always next Christmas!

I wasn't sure, just letting you know where we stand.
