@kode54 - I wish I had the full game to do the rip again but unfortunately I lost the .mul files I had with my HDD due to space concerns.
So can anyone do it for me? ;)

Something to add to the dsf archive: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6aqjkk4tfgts5gz/Ninja%20Assault.7z?dl=1

It's the Naomi version of Ninja Assault. Haven't touched the game in over 10 years, could never really hear the music in the arcades back then, and never really beaten it, so it might be missing a track or 2 since one dtpk didn't make anything. I'll try to figure it out later.

No, I just ran Kingshriek's python scripts on the uncompressed roms. Roms may need to be combined first or some data may end up being missed.

I'm actually curious about the whole tracker deal, too. How are we supposed to get in? I tried following the vague instructions, and never received the email to continue on to the next step. It's not pleasant being cockblocked from all that music...
by hcs at 6:31 PM EDT on August 1, 2016
If you mean the tracker I used to host here, it has been gone for a few years. I haven't seen any mention of it in this thread since 2013.

Finally got the wem files from the MGR Demo thanks to an awesome user...

But for whatever reason revorb.exe won't work. Downloading a new revorb.exe also doesn't work.

Anyone know what I should do?

In using Win10 if that matters.
by hcs at 4:13 AM EDT on August 2, 2016
Did you use ww2ogg? Are the output files not working at all? You may have not used the correct codebooks with ww2ogg, look at the readme.
by WrappedInBlack at 5:15 AM EDT on August 2, 2016
I mean, whenever I try to use revord.exe it crashes. Replacing it with another revorb.exe does the same thing. And yeah I was using ww2ogg. Is there another way to convert wem files?

Opps. Somehow, I screwed up the link in the previous post. Here's the proper Mazan link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/q4iixj78221qbf6/Mazan.7z?dl=1
by hcs at 2:50 PM EDT on August 2, 2016
@WrappedInBlack: If you don't use the right packed codebooks you will create a corrupt .ogg that revorb (and anything else) can't handle. If you look at the ww2ogg readme, it will say to try

ww2ogg input.wem --pcb packed_codebooks_aoTuV_603.bin

which uses the alternate aoTuV codebooks instead of the default ones in packed_codebooks.bin. It also has other troubleshooting suggestions.

Also I assume you're using the latest ww2ogg 0.24.
by WrappedInBlack at 6:10 PM EDT on August 2, 2016
Oh okay, thank you. I'll try that.

PS3

Dragon Ball: Raging Blast

Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2

Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi

J-Stars Victory Vs.+

PSP

Super Robot Taisen OE: Operation Extend

^Boy, it was a royal pain ripping those Dragon Ball games. I hope I managed to get ALL the music from those titles, because I have no intention of sifting through 50,000 files per game again, lol. My little rant aside, enjoy!

Hey, a little question:
I've downladed the Sonic The Hedgehog (Game Gear) Rip from here.
It contains 16 m3u files and 1 kss file.
When I open the kss file in foobar, I can hear the music, but all tracks is named "G-3307"
Properties has no infos, except "System"
When I open the m3u file(s) in foobar ...nothing happens.

What should I do?

(I'm sure that's answered many time so, sorry!)

Just had to figure this out with GBS a week or two ago myself. The Game Emu Player component requires a single m3u with the same filename as the KSS/GBS/etc. (just need to merge all the others into a single file, with a newline between each). My process for doing this is a bit roundabout, so I went ahead and uploaded a proper m3u for GG Sonic here. Just stick it in your Sonic directory, then open the kss in foobar.
by Chrono Meridian at 12:47 PM EDT on August 23, 2016
Aw great! Now I know what I have to do.
It's actually very simple so thank you MIDIocrites! ^^

Here's another to add to the PS3 checklist:

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam Reborn

And I'd like to request some assistance, once again.... I've actually made a couple other rips (both shmups) for the PS3 and Xbox 360 respectively, but no matter what I attempt, I can't get them to sound right (tried quickbms, unxwb, etc....). If anyone's interested, I uploaded them both, anyway:

PS3

Caladrius Blaze (MSF)

Xbox 360

Ginga Force (XSB/XWB)

^Maybe you guys can do something with them, eh? At the very least, it would be nice to have a listenable Ginga Force rip....
by MIDIocrites at 7:07 PM EDT on August 24, 2016
@Chrono Meridian: No problem! Glad I was able to help.

I made a little Windows batch file to address the m3u/foobar GEP issue Chrono Meridian and I discussed above. I'm sharing it here, in case anyone else has any need for it:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B95E8Fz-Rj2sdlM3LW95eW1oX2c

It generates a Game Emu Player-compatible playlist for rips using one m3u per track. For every non-m3u file in the directory, it checks for the filename (with extension) within each m3u; if it finds a match, it copies the m3u into a new file, followed by a newline. It's a hacky solution, especially since it relies on the assumption that the filenames of the existing m3u's begin with track numbers, but that was the case for all the rips I tested it with.

edited 7:08 PM EDT August 24, 2016
by kode54 at 7:52 PM EDT on August 24, 2016
Single M3U is mandatory for foo_gep, since there is no way for my component to take over the player's M3U processing, and there is probably zero chance of all of the extra extensions that GME supports being added to the core player's M3U processor.
by MIDIocrites at 8:47 PM EDT on August 24, 2016
Thanks for the clarification. I may have chosen my words poorly; I didn't mean to imply that I thought it was some issue with foo_gep itself. I just assumed most of the rips out there were prepared with some other player's one-m3u-per-track strategy in mind.
by Knurek at 12:37 AM EDT on August 25, 2016
Yeah, the rips work fine in all other players I've tried (Winamp, XMPlay).
I created the single M3U tracks with a Python script, so all of them should follow the 'double digit track number at beginning of filename' rule.
by banshiryuu at 10:41 PM EDT on August 26, 2016
Final Fantasy XI [Final Fantasy XI Online] (2004)(Square Enix)

Updated rip of the current FFXI rip(s) that contains everything from all the expansions, add-ons, and updates. The reason I didn't split them is because the songs for expansions aren't contained in separate folders; there's a lot of the newer ATRAC stuff, probably from Abyssea and Rhapsodies, that's at the beginning of the main game folder, and other stuff strewn about as well. I'd love to tag it to make it all nice as organized by expansion and what not once I can figure out how to play the ATRAC (and by that I mean fight with POLUtils to work on my comp some more), but for now it's the original file names.

@ChillyBilly: back at it again with amazing rips, thanks for Ginga Force! Yousuke Yasui is my one true game composer love and it reminded me I think I have an Eschatos rip somewhere on my comp that I have to go digging for as well... (I also never said thanks for the Ar nosurge and Atelier Escha & Logy/Sophie rips from earlier :x)

Woot "3D Dot Game Heroes" sound track is on the website! Hopefully a lot better than these clips: http://downloads.khinsider.com/game-soundtracks/album/3d-dot-game-heroes

Also the download speed from JoshW's website is a lot faster than it used to be. It used to top out at like 50KB/s? Now it's maxing out my connection.

Edit: Yes, the copy from JoshW's website is far superior. Assuming the files are taken from the disc and not just recorded from the consoles audio output at a high quality.

You don't know very well about searching a good place about gamerip..?

Well you should try to learn few thing here if you want (most likely) the full soundtrack that you are looking for...

And BTW those sites are just trash i can't believe it you just try to download from it xD

Otherwise I re-post a old rip : Tales of Zestiria [PC]
by Franpa at 7:04 AM EDT on September 5, 2016
I know about this place, it's just that I didn't expect there to be a rip of this game. I question if it is a copy of the audio data from the game disc or a recording from the consoles audio output though as the APE music files don't seem to be built for audio looping (Yet the music loops seamlessly in the game).

There's also that Final Fantasy forum for music rips too but I have never successfully managed to register an account there (I never receive the activation email after signing up). You need to register o see download links on their forum :/

Hoot Archive...?

What is this ?
by kode54 at 7:59 PM EDT on September 13, 2016
Hoot is a closed source Windows chip tune player, that everyone seems to love because everyone is on Windows anyway.
by Dais! at 10:24 PM EDT on September 13, 2016
I'm not sure anybody really loves Hoot, especially given how finicky it can be, but it's currently the only way to listen to the music of hundreds of (mostly Japanese) computer games...without playing them, of course. It also supports using MIDI synthesizers like the Roland MT-32 (emulated or physical), if the game supported them.

For these computer systems, it works like M1 does for arcade games, using the sound data taken directly from the files with little or no modification. In this sense, it usually enables more accurate archival and curation than seen in other emulated music formats, with less potential points of failure between original product and what is done to reproduce that sound in another environment. But that isn't a guarantee, and it can be a pain to use.

As an example, if you just want to hear the basic music from the X68000 Wolf Team game Granada, the VGM set is fine for your needs. But if you wanted to hear the MT-32 version of the soundtrack, Hoot would be your best option (unless you wanted an official hardware recording).

And in the rare event that something was found to be crucially wrong in the way that the VGM files were created (such as errors in how MESS emulates X68k audio), the files would have to be redone. Theoretically, data sets like the ones Knurek just posted should be future-proof, with any changes being on the part of Hoot itself. (I'd like to emphasize that this is a potential advantage of Hoot, not an absolute one)

And here's even more stuff:

NDS

Not gonna bother listing them individually.... there's too many (about 40 or so) So here they all are in one big archive:

DS Rip Archive

PS1

EOS: Edge of Skyhigh (Has a .DA extension, but you can simply rename it to .wav and they'll play just fine)

PS3

Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Masou Kishin F - Coffin of the End

Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Masou Kishin III - Pride of Justice

Later!

More SRW yessssssssssss

thank you based god ChillyBilly

^Hey, no prob! Truth be told, I actually have a couple more SRW rips on hand, but there's one big issue with them.... I just can't get them to play. They're MSF files that seem to be encrypted, but nothing I tried (primarily BMS scripts) gets them to work for me, otherwise I'd have already upped those rips, too. Maybe someone here knows a solution, though? I can post a sample file or two if it would help.

My only question about the ps vita archive
is...where can i find the tools to convert into wav file and do i need to drag the file or to click on it ?

Or foobar cant support AT9 Files ?
by guest at 10:17 AM EDT on September 27, 2016
@ChillyBilly: I'll take a look at those MSF files.

@Knurek: Thanks!
by ChillyBilly at 3:33 PM EDT on September 27, 2016
Nice, thanks for the link, Knurek!

@Vector Harbor: You can convert AT9 files using the AT9tool. I don't think I can link to it here, but.... remember, Google is your friend. ;)

@guest: Okay, here they are:

MSF Samples

^Hope you don't mind me adding a few samples from a couple other rips I had trouble with aside from the SRW ones. Thanks again for looking into them!

I'm just gonna re-post my rip of SH1 in hopes that Knurek or some other privileged person can finally mirror it on psf.joshw.info. Not gonna lie, I could use the extra space on my Dropbox account.

Silent Hill (1999-03-04)(KCE Tokyo)(Konami).7z

@Vector harbor: You can try this other AT9 decoder as another option:

AT9 Decoder

^Has a bigger file size, but it might be more convenient for you and anyone else who's more comfortable with the drag and drop method. ;)

I get the feeling that the tracks for Pen Pen TriIceLon weren't encoded in MP3. So why are they MP3 in the version on the site?
by hcs at 8:09 PM EDT on September 28, 2016
A lot of redbook or otherwise uncompressed PCM are MP3'd in the online archives, in the interest of space. That decision was made years ago, don't know if it's still the right one.

Well, back then I had an upload speed of 64 kB/s, so every byte was precious.
Nowadays, I have a massively increased upload speed of 128 kB/s, so still, every byte is precious. It's just that I don't have the time to reencode stuff, so outside contributions are treated as is.
