Is this the choir that was used in Chrono Trigger and Radical Dreamers? It comes from Best Service's Gigapack, and Synth Mania said that Peter Siedlaczek's Classic Choir was sampled in that CD.

I'm honestly not sure about the sustains, I know the Gigapack has Gregorian chants and shouts too.

Are these different to Classical Choir or not? Is the Gigapack an assembly of other Best Service sample packs?

At least in Radical Dreamers, I heard Classical Choirs' "THUM" sample.

As for sustains, it might be a module's choir sound.

What you linked were sustained choir samples, as opposed to shouts.

Yeah, that'd most likely be them, they don't sound particularly distinct (a live sample like one from Classical Choirs would've been harder to loop compared to a Roland sound).

Thats one of the Gregorian chants yeah, but the ones I initially found were the ones in Guardia Millenial Fair, the battle theme for Radical Dreamers, and "Facing" from Radical Dreamers.

This isn't video game related, but the Breaking Bad soundtrack uses the sample pack Robert Rich - Liquid Planet. Since I've been rewatching the show I'm sure I've heard a fair bit of use, but most specifically at the moment I can identify the loop "Wood Mallet 01" being used in "Aztek".

Also just a guess, but I feel like I can hear Omnisphere in Better Call Saul's score.

I was referring to a sample i find in my JV1080 while i was searching the presets in my synth, yeah there are like 4 banks for a example.

I was meaning it like in the B sound bank in the Roland Jv1080, yeah there is a similar sound in the GM presets but they sound kind of different.

It actually a Alto Saxophone sound i discovered, i wish i can record these sounds in my computer.

I find the Bunker 1 Synth lead sound, in my jv1080 it in a preset call Big BPF but i find mainly is the uncompressed version of the preset.

Grant Kirkhope said on Twitter that he mainly used the Roland JV-1080 and the E-MU Proteus FX to compose the music of GoldenEye and Banjo-Kazooie/Banjo-Tooie, so I think you'll find many samples that he used!

@G-Boy indeed i did, but i might be buying extra expansive cards to find more sounds from the rareware era.

Might be getting the vintage card or World Card, mainly even through Synthmania is a good source for instrumental samples.

But not all of the sounds are there tbh, i am glad i find a lot of discoveries in my Jv1080.

I might try finding sounds that Graeme Norgate use as well. since he also use a Jv1080 as well when i was talking to him in Email.

The Emu Proteus FX might be next in my list since i heard Grant use Some Brass Instruments like the french horn and trumpets in there.

I would definitely recommend you consider investing in an Integra, which contains all the SRX expansion cards + XV5080 and JV5080 patches/tones. It's a little less expensive than buying each separately.

Does anyone have any idea what the Mushroom Hill Lead is based off of in S3K? I know I've heard that instrument on Sonic Gems collection.. Is it some sort of synth lead? Or maybe even a brass?

And what could the Casino Park lead be? I've spent hours surfing through VSTs to find both leads and I can't seem to find any of em.

Yes, I do know Kondo's equipment. The ones you can clearly see in the video are Roland SC8850, XV-5080, two JV-1080s, and a JV2080. But if you check this picture which I found a while ago http://www.1up.com/media/01/8/3/4/lg/184.jpg

You can see more. In order:

First column is just processor stuff, no instruments.
Second: XV-5080, SC-8850, VP9000 (variphrase processor), two 3 E-MU Proteus modules, only 4 made anyway (two in second column, 1 in third, top)
Third: Proteus, JV-1080, Korg 01R/W workstation, E-MU Morpheus, Novation Supernova 2
Fourth rack has 2 AKAI S3000s (the white ones)

You are correct, however there was a livestream in which the sound team showcased some of their works in their DAW (Cubase for those who don't know) and some of the notes were a bit visible (read: not very). I think that's the closest so far we'll get outside of actually recreating the pieces :P

For funzies I reorchestrated Deep Drive from Kingdom Hearts II. It uses all the software/instruments Yoko Shimomura used besides the piano, drumset and synths which I ended up replicating through Omnisphere.

The song Menari by Saskia, Geofanny and Angie uses the same bagpipes/shenai sound as the Battle Tree, and the same octave flutes as several locations in Pokémon Sun and Moon.
Check how similar this is to the other sounds. Keep in mind the song is from 1998.

I found some new stuff about Nobuo Uematsu's Roland SC-88. This was translated from an interview by Yoshitake Maeda, and proves that he used the Sound Canvas. He actually said it himself:

"Maeda: It's a change of subject [from talking about character themes],but what kind of an environment do you work in?

Uematsu: I usually come to work on time, turn on my keyboard, and then decide to work. I don't have expensive equipment in my room. I have a hard time trying to learn new machines, so I stick to my old ones. It's a waste of time to go over the manual, search my hard drive, or go get a floppy disk just trying to find a single trumpet synth. I could be coming up with a great melody in the very moment!

The only instrument I used is the "Roland SC88," which is a beginners' synth that costs about 50,000 yen (about $400). Just one. The maximum simultaneous sound is like 64 or 128, and I don't need to worry about quality unless I want to have a special traditional instrument. I can't say that its symphonic re-creation is the best, but it has most that I need. Best of all, everything costs only 50,000 yen.

I hear that people say that "Nobuo is surrounded by computers these days," but the truth is that I'm really bad at computers."

SC-8850 and SC-8820 (which Soundcanvas for ios an d Soundcanvas VA are based on) have all the sounds of the MT-32, SC55, SC88, and SC88pro in addition to the new ones featured only in the 8850 and 8820.

The Studio Canvas SD-90 appears to have alot more in it. It appears to have JV and XV series sounds, but probably has some Sound Canvas instruments in it as well.

Basically it all comes down to the waveforms and I believe that the 8850 samples were actually more similar than most of the ones shown to be in SCVA, but they ARE similar anyway so it's a good enough substitute for those sounds (like the strings, french horn, etc.). The in-game samples apparently are closer to the 8850 than the other versions (but I'm not the one who really researched Generation 3 and things can still be up in the air anyway).

Also yeah you can add the stuff, but if possible just try to link back to the Pokemon sheet somewhere, like in a note/comment or something

I mean there's slight difference between samples but I don't think it's that much IMO. Most of the instruments FROM RS are likely variants of the SC88/VA ones if they're 8850 specifically.

That depends on which console the game was released on.

If you want to rip a N64 soundfont:

1: Go here.

2: Scroll down until you see the orange "Download" link.

3: Click the link.

4: Choose the place in your computer that you want the file to be downloaded in.

5: Click "Save".

6: Extract the .RAR file with a Zip Archiver, I recommend Bandizip.

7: Double-click the "N64SoundListToolUpdated" folder in the place that you extracted the file to.

8: Double-click "Release".

9: Double-click "N64SoundListTool".

10: Search for the name of the N64 ROM that you want to rip a soundfont of.

11: Click "I'm Feeling Lucky".

12: Follow the steps on the website.

13: (step 4)

14: (step 5)

15: Extract the ROM with a Zip Archiver.

16: Double-click the folder with the ROM's name in the place that you extracted it to.

17: Right-click the ROM in the folder.

18: Click "Copy".

21: Click "Paste".

22: Open the N64SoundListTool window.

Does anyone know the actual original samples used in the snes version of fear factory from DKC? namely that synth rhythm at the beginning that goes like: DUN DUN?

According to the soundfont it sounds like it came from some 90's early synthesizer like a roland or something.

Can someone give a second opinion on this comparison? I found two tracks that seem to use the same shaker loop.

I'm working on it! Some samples I ripped are hard to tell the difference between (especially the Overdrive Guitar and the Distorted Guitar samples), and many samples are duplicates. It's also hard to make General MIDI-mapped drum kits out of the percussion instrument samples, and I have much to do because I have many problems in my life right now, but I'm trying as hard as I can.

I finally buy the jv80 vintage card expansion, it was pretty hard to find that means i will try searching presets that been used in video games track.

If i find any familiar sounding presets when i start playing i let you guys know.
