- Is anyone here interested in beating Shadowgate 64 so we can get the name of the artist from the credits?
- by Mouser X at 4:13 PM EDT on September 30, 2005
- Does Shadowgate happen to have a different name in another country? I'm searching for the game but for composer info, I'm getting nothing. I even used the Wayback machine to access a site that has apparently gone down. It's got a huge list of games, and the composers for those games. The wayback link is here
As for playing through and beating the game, I really doubt I'm up for it (mainly time constraints, and lack of desire to spend that kind of time on this particular project). For anyone that does though, good luck. Mouser X over.

- Huge Tag Shipment by marioman at 4:18 PM EDT on September 30, 2005
- Hi everyone, and welcome back PDZ. PDZ, please don't worry about your English - I really don't care what a person's grammar/vocabulary is like as long as I can get the general idea of what they are trying to say - provided that it is CLEAN. :) Besides, the more that you practice speaking English, the better you get at it.
Well, I have been very busy, but I have worked really hard and gathered a LOAD of tags for you guys. Unfortunately, I cannot tag/time these sets myself because I do not have the time right now. (I had a hard enough time getting these tags.) So, I hope that someone will use these to finish their respective sets. Furthermore, as before I do not want credit for these tags - let the person who does the REAL work get the credit. (*hint hint PDZ*) Anyway, here they are:
-----Mario Party 2-----
I have been telling myself for a long time, "Marioman, you need to get Mario Party 2." So when the USF set came out I thought, "What a better time to get it than now? I have been meaning to get it anyway, and if I get it now I can help tag the USF set." So, I bought it and I have verified all of hcs' track names, and now I am adding these track names:
Sparse# - Track Name
2C - Toad Bandstand - Flower Waltz
2D - Toad Bandstand - Toad's Waltz
2E - Move to the Music - Rhythm Shakers
2F - Move to the Music - Dancing Star
31 - Look Away
39 - Determining the Winner
5B - Toad is Kidnapped
42 - Mini-Game Coaster Results
43 - Drum Roll
44 - Win (One Winner)
45 - Lose
48 - Instant Replay
52 - Win (Multiple Winners)
53 - Get Item
54 - Get Bowser Bomb
55 - New Record
57 - Draw
59 - Board Title
5C - Get a Star
5D - Get a Ztar
5E - Mushroom Genie
Duplicates:
3D - I Can Do It! (Duplicate)
3F - Ending (Duplicate)
47 - Know What I Mean? (Duplicate)
56 - Lose Item Game? (Duplicate)
51 - Win (One Winner) (Duplicate)
60 - New Record (Duplicate)
-----Animal Forest-----
I just happened along some Animal Forest MP3s recently (well, Animal Crossing actually, but AF and AC are the same game), and I thought that I would at least put up tags for them. All of these are played depending on what time of the day it is:
Sparse# - Track Name
01 - Midnight
02 - 1:00 AM
03 - 2:00 AM
04 - 3:00 AM
05 - 4:00 AM
06 - 5:00 AM
07 - 6:00 AM
08 - 7:00 AM
09 - 8:00 AM
0A - 9:00 AM
0B - 10:00 AM
0C - 11:00 AM
0D - Noon
0E - 1:00 PM
0F - 2:00 PM
10 - 3:00 PM
11 - 4:00 PM
12 - 5:00 PM
13 - 6:00 PM
14 - 7:00 PM
15 - 8:00 PM
16 - 9:00 PM
17 - 10:00 PM
18 - 11:00 PM
If I remember correctly, Emili007 was the first to request this one. Does this mean that she can provide tags for it too? Just wondering.
Speaking of Emili007, I was looking at your Yoshi's Story tags the other day, and I noticed that you have five tracks that are marked as "unknown". Well, hcs and I put together a WONDERFUL list of tags for Yoshi's Story, and we identified all but one track. The list is available here. All I ask is that you LOOK at it and see if it is a help - that is all.
Also, just a reminder to anyone who might be interested in tagging Mario Party 3, that I did post tags for it here. (Another good tag project for PDZ. I am trying my hardest to give you an opportunity to get a set ALL TO YOURSELF.)
Alright, believe it or not, that is it for now. Thanks to PDZ for the Mario Tennis tags; they look good. Well, I better go return to my crazy schedule.
Thanks.

- Yeah, that's the only reason I suggested a Shadowgate 64 playthrough, my research ran completely dry. I couldn't even find a composer for the NES version. It's been called "Shadowgate" since the beginning everywhere it's been released.
marioman, good to see all dem tags, and thanks for the links back to old stuff.

Game Music Base to the rescue!
We have Saori Kobayashi (who also worked on Panzer Dragoon) and Kennosuke Suemura (music credits for Super Bonk, Tengai Makyou Shinden, and Money Puzzle Exchanger, and programming for Saturn Bomberman Fight (and a bunch of others)) to thank for Shadowgate 64's music.

- Snowboard Kids by hcs at 6:10 PM EDT on September 30, 2005
- Ok, what I have here with Snowboard kids is essentially the same problem with Chopper Attack, massive CPU usage. I've worked on eliminating as much unneeded code as I can but it's still about on par with CA. Now at the time I ripped CA I thought it might just be due to a very intensive music enigne, but on further though it seems less likely.
So I put it to the people who want Snowboard Kids ripped: look at how Chopper Attack runs. Do you want a rip of Snowboard Kids that's about the same or do you want to wait until I get the CPU usage down (which may never happen)?
- by PdZ at 10:22 PM EDT on September 30, 2005
- I have a big CPU (3 GHz) and a lot of DDR2 Ram.If it is not a problem for u, pls Rip it.Some people would be very happy about that and if it is eventually someday possible to clean up the unneeded code, that people with lower CPUs could play this rip, it would also be nice for them.Personally: I love Snowboard Kids.. pls publish it...
:)
To the others:
Iam not back with complete tagging.Iam only back for some help (like for taggers on Mario Tennis).I see, what people here are "doing", and i think, I will also give the best I could do for all.Thx to all.
bye

- If it's going to be unstable/unplayable/difficult to play for a sizeable proportion of people, I'd recommend waiting on it until you're able to get the CPU usage lowered (unless you want to rip it now then replace it later on). I think my comp might be able to play it (2Ghz 512mb DDR).

- by Mouser X at 8:37 PM EDT on October 1, 2005
- Snowboard Kids actually uses less CPU than chopper attack, for me. From what I saw, Chopper Attack used about 25-35% of my CPU, whereas Snowboard kids uses about 20%. Of course, that's still pretty high, since most of the other USF sets take 10% or less. I have a 64 bit 2 ghz Athalon CPU, in case you were wondering.
And, just for kick, I thought I'd mention this. I'm accessing the 'net via wire-less network at my house. Today, I completly lost connection, and have been unable to re-establish it. However, oddly enough, someone else in the area has a wireless network going as well, and they have WAY more bandwidth than my local network did... So, uh, yah, I think it's sort of cool, but really, probably bad (except that at least I can get online...). Anyway, just thought I'd let you know the CPU specs for Snowboard kids for my PC. Mouser X over and out.

- "So what if there are dynamic tracks! The sound test even makes them sound like that.
Enter Jukebox in the code select and try a dynamic track if you don't believe me."
If you are meaning the ones with several tracks all merged together, yeah, I realised that's how they came up in the jukebox. I thought there may be a way to bypass that. I'm not the ROMHACKER at work here, though =P *shrug*.
Sounds great anyhow. Now to wait for the tags to be copied over.

edit:
I found out, that the short commandline screen which shows the progress of the batchfile sayid very often "Zugriff verweigert".Its German and means "Access Denied".I thought of "Schreibschutz" .I dont know what Schreibschutz means in english.I Think: "Write Protection".U can choose it in the properties screen of any File of Windows (rightklick on file and then "properties").But no file is checked. The files are correct renamed but not tagged.Maybe a bug or something wrong in the batch?

- Maybe the order is wrong. Personally, my batch files look like this and I never had a problem:
psfpoint "-game=" *.miniusf
psfpoint "-usfby=" *.miniusf
psfpoint "-tagger=" *.miniusf
psfpoint "-copyright=" *.miniusf
psfpoint "-artist=" *.miniusf
psfpoint "-year=" *.miniusf
psfpoint "-genre=" *.miniusf
psfpoint "-title=" ".miniusf"
(...)
psfpoint "-time=" ".miniusf"
(...)
psfpoint "-fade=" ".miniusf"
(...)
ren "OldName.miniusf" "NewName.miniusf"
(...)
You should always set the rename-orders at the end of the batch-file, so that no errors occur. You could try it this like, otherwise I don't know what you could do.

- SK tags are looking good PDZ. Now just stick some times in there and it's all yours.
I agree that the set uses more CPU than usual, but I don't think that it uses an excessively large amount. It uses less than the Ocarnia of Time. (Well, Gerudo Valley anyway.)
Thanks.
- by PdZ at 9:37 AM EDT on October 2, 2005
- I did everything. But this isnt the problem, groupie.
It seems, that every change for the taggerfield could not be accomplished because the Acess from a file outside will deny this.If i change values manually, then there is no Access violation.Only the Rename command is accessible.Maybe its my Firewall or my Anti-Virus Shield.I will disable both and make new tests.

- here's your problem:
psfpoint "-title=Title Theme" "01.Snowboard Kids - Title Theme.miniusf"
you have two spaces between the hyphen and "Title Theme", thus the name never gets set.
and in this section:
RENAME "sparse10.ram.miniram.miniusf" "11.Snowboard Kids - Rookie Mountain, Ninja Land, Animal Land.miniusf"
psfpoint "-length=4:11.514" "11.Snowboard Kids - Rookie Mountain.miniusf"
psfpoint "-title=Rookie Mountain" "11.Snowboard Kids - Rookie Mountain.miniusf"
psfpoint "-track=11" "11.Snowboard Kids - Rookie Mountain.miniusf"
you rename the file to "11.Snowboard Kids - Rookie Mountain, Ninja Land, Animal Land.miniusf" but you try to set tags for "11.Snowboard Kids - Rookie Mountain.miniusf"
also here:
psfpoint "-title=Night Highway" "19.Snowboard Kids - Credits.miniusf"
You probably meant to title that "Credits".
Those are the only problems I see.
also, the length on "Training" probably shouldn't be -length=4:41792

- Well, tests on 64 Trump Collection and Rocket Robot on Wheels thus prove that it is possible to create a usf using only a point in the game where nothing is really happening (eg, a sound test) and do a log to a sparse ROM from there, then combine it with a sparsed pj file. However, I wouldn't reccommend doing this to an entire game, as a lot of unneeded data would remain.

Let it be noted that Rocket Robot on Wheels here is not processing any dlists since it's using an experimental savestate.

I remember thoroughly played the game when I was a kid, and beat it 100%. When I managed to have all the cheats written down (since you get one every time you beat Wigpig or something), I listened to all the tunes in sound test, and remember that that tune was never actually in the game.
From the instruments used and the style of music, the tune is obviously associated with the unlockable character, Drumstick. Therefore, I named the tune "Drumstick's Theme" because that's exactly what it is - his theme song.

- Well, first you'd figure out what threads you can kill.
Then you'd kill 'em on a call to this fcn.
Then you'd make a save state.
Then you'd load that into the batch ripper, set the trace to begin two instructions into the fcn, set the limits and other parameters appropriately (song value offset still doesn't matter), and go.

- feh, it's just a maze of threads
- by hcs at 10:39 AM EDT on October 10, 2005
- Dag nabbit, did no one else notice that the last Snowboard Kids track ("Credits") crashes at 3:08, just before the end? This damn track repeats like 4 times before doing something different at the end...
And I've lost my sparse roms and rams for this so I'll have to rip it over, assuming that I can get a rip working again (I've lost basically all of my modified source...)
PdZ, you timed it to this length so surely you must have noticed the crash at the end, please let me know if this happens again.

- And now, for the moment that NONE of you have been waiting for. ;p
64 Trump Collection
is now up and in the preliminary directory.

- Hey PdZ, about Mario Tennis... by SquareTex at 2:15 PM EDT on October 12, 2005
- Mario Tennis was one of the rare Mario sports soundtracks by Sakuraba soundtracks that DID have a CD release, and I stumbled across the MP3s for it some time ago.
With your permission, I'd like to build off of what you've done, and use the OST listing for names and track order. (I won't use the times, though...it's mostly one-loop, so you did great there.) You will still get primary tagging credit, since you started it.
Sound good?
p.s. I knew it'd be a good set that'd bring me out of tagging silence. How did I MISS this?!? :D
- by hcs at 5:21 PM EDT on October 13, 2005
- SquareTex's completion of PdZ's Mario Tennis tags now up.
Sakuraba and Kondo: Perfect together.
...musically, that is.
- by PdZ at 1:48 AM EDT on October 14, 2005
- Thats no problem for me.Of Course I dont have the right to give permissions, if someone found the OST and want to tagg the Set right. Its also not a problem if ur name is called in the taggerfield, but It must called: "-tagger=PdZ and SquareTex" or "-tagger=PdZ,Squaretex" ;).GO AHEAD!
Ok I see that the set is up and u set it like that I wrote before.Nice Work.
edited 5:51 AM EDT October 14, 2005
So.. i think its time to tell it once more.If someone found big mistakes in tagges, which are made by me, and u fix it, then it wouldn't be a problem if ur name is credited in the taggerfield.I had a problem with UKNOWNFILE and his arrogance.Iam not so selfish as the most think. (bad english, I know... u will understand it hopefully).Btw. the problem with UKNOWNFILE is solved (hopefully) and we will concentrate on the Rips and Taggs. bye PdZ

- Great! :) by SquareTex at 5:46 AM EDT on October 14, 2005
- Glad to hear it, PdZ. You gave me a pretty good foundation to work with, and my fondness for Sakuraba's music provided the rest. Thanks.
Oh, and I've already told HCS about this, but I'll call dibs on Mario Golf 64 if it becomes a reality. More Sakuraba goodness. Unlike with Tennis, there is no OST. (Although I did come across a gamerip, which is MOSTLY complete.) But I'm a member of a rather rabid Sakuraba fan club that's already pledged to help me on that effort. ;)
- by marioman at 3:54 PM EDT on October 14, 2005
- Thanks SquareTex. I will be looking forward to getting BOTH of those tagged sets.

- mario golf has been pissing me off.

- I worked really hard and made the time to tag the Mario Party 2 and Mario Party 3 sets.
The tagged miniusfs have been sent to hcs. I hope that everybody enjoys them.
- by hcs at 7:15 PM EDT on October 16, 2005
- marioman's Mario Party 2 & 3 tags now up.
Just a technical note, this probably should have gone in the "Josh W's USF rips" thread. It isn't specified, but this thread is pretty much for my rips. Doesn't really matter, though.

- yes, Josh W can see all with his 1000 eyes so it dont matter where you post it.
Since Josh W ripped the sets, Josh W should also be sent a copy so that it is to be inspected by Josh W's high standard of Tagging protocols.
Josh W has had too much sugar and caffeine and should stop refering too Josh W as the third person.
- by hcs at 8:12 PM EDT on October 16, 2005
- hcs abases himself before Josh W and apologizes for his impudence in posting without consulting the Grand High Council.
Should I forward you the email or is what's already up sufficient?
- by Josh W at 8:27 PM EDT on October 16, 2005
- no its, cool. They have passed my tests and expectations.
The Grand High Council?
- by hcs at 8:57 PM EDT on October 16, 2005
- You, Josh. You are the Grand High Council.
I'm the Supreme High Council.

- For UNKNOWNFILE:
I just have a little question about your Dynamix rips... Would it not be easier to just rip the actual MOD files from the N64 ROM, rather than trying to make USFs?
- by unknownfile at 8:10 AM EDT on October 17, 2005
- Poke: The MODs are floating around somewhere on the internet. The MODs in the ROM have been compressed, so it isn't a really good idea to try to rip them from the ROM. Google ode2js.mod.
- by PokeParadox at 12:59 AM EDT on October 20, 2005
- Ah ok... I knew there had to be some reason why you'd want to rip them as USFs!
- by hcs at 9:09 PM EDT on October 23, 2005
- currently ripping Hybrid Heaven
done

bah, already found one track that needs reripping, sparse70.
Let me know if you're listening to any track and it crashes (or just stops playing)

- I've started working on Shadow Man again, but I haven't made any significant progress yet. For one thing it's streamed. For another I can't actually get the game past the title screen in PJ64.
- by Maxwill at 6:25 AM EDT on October 26, 2005
- About Hybrid Heaven: sparses 8d, 19, 64, 84 and 90 are just silence-tracks. The rest of the songs are okay, as far as I listened to them.
How goes your work on Shadowman?

- by hcs at 10:49 AM EDT on October 26, 2005
- Utter failure.
It's streamed and I can't figure out how to get different songs playing.
- by hcs at 3:45 AM EST on November 3, 2005
- Battle Tanx: Global Assault on it's way to the interweb as I type.
This is probably a mite bigger than it has to be... but I'm damned sure not ripping it again unless I have to (crash errors or the like). It uses a lot of CPU but it's legitimate, Audio HLE relieves a lot of that and it fluctuates depending on the song.
- by FireDivine at 12:15 PM EST on November 3, 2005
- You did freaking awesome hcs! They rock!
- by FireDivine at 12:41 PM EST on November 3, 2005
- I am working on tagging them
- by hcs at 9:44 PM EST on November 3, 2005
- FireDivine's tags are up, I'm working on timing them.
