Here is a re-rip of a specific track from Parasite Eve: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kni0q7uvlvr3327/216%20Someone%20Calls%20Memorias%2001.psf?dl=0
EDIT: Forgot to specify what track: 216 Someone Calls Memorias
This came about after noticing missing data in the Akao sequence in the psf currently hosted. The data in question is the missing opera vocal section which still doesn't play right now because it requires a cpu flag (or 2) to enable it which is beyond my abilities. There's probably a deeper reason for the data's removal beyond simply it not playing, but I haven't come across any noticeable issues during playback yet. As such, I wouldn't really use this rip to replace the current one. For midi conversions, however, it is much more useful as the current psf will generate a messed up sf2 (and probably dls as well).
Edit 2: as for how I know the data is the missing opera vocals? From shifting around that data and removing some others before converting it to midi.
Some progress based on an idea. It seems the flags used to enable the voice are the same as the one used to move UB's sequences along. Replacing the UB data with the "Someone Calls" data got results, although a bit earlier than I was hoping:
Tags taken from the official OST. In the case of the NDS set, strm files were converted to mp3, so would need to be replaced for the purposes of vgm.hcs64.
The OST sounds far better so I'm probably keeping that and deleting these now.
Lunar, did you tried to use the !tags playlist format with the STRMs? Using a "!tags.m3u" file, you don't need to re-encode the files and just add the artist, album, track title, etc. There are various sets using tags that way without modifying the original sources.
Yeah, converting esoteric streamed formats to mp3 is a habit I got into years ago, mainly because of metadata, but also because life is too short to mess with these formats if it isn't strictly necessary :) so it's just a case of what I had on my drive.
Even so, in my local library, rather than use !tags.m3u I use the External Tags component in foobar2000, which does a similar job.
Foobar2000 64-bit version can't support 32-bit-only components, and SSF/DSF/PSF/PSF2/etc decoders by Kode54 are no longer supported and remain 32-bit as of 2024. God, I hope someone will take care of such components and make them 64-bit-compatible.
Thanks. I think they should be linked in a page about recommended, suggested software and its components/plugins for playing ripped video game music, while making them 64-bit-friendly.
Wish there was a 64bit version of viopsf. Not sure anybody ever updated the reverb in the other available players, and foo_mdfnpsf hates alot of my psf's.
I wish there was an update to the GSF & 2SF decoders' cores. There's a bug in the current 2SF decoder (even in the 64-bit version) which is related to Namco Museum DS. If you play it with the current 2SF decoder, you'll notice it will sound wrong compared to older versions, no matter the interpolation you set. Or maybe someone can make a 2SF decoder using the melonDS core...
@Kirishima same here. Plus, I'm struggling to get viopsf running on the latest foobar2000 beta (and I'm using 32-bit).
Alternative set for "Aitakute..." by SoundGLSI at 9:30 AM EDT on September 17, 2024
I finished the re-tagging of the "Aitakute... ~your smiles in my heart~" set using the tracklist found in the original albums. I had to corect some of them because even the VGMdb ones were wrong in some cases (character names are the most common errors).
I did the following: 1. Retagged the set (however, filenames were not altered). 2. Used !tags.m3u for the opening, insert song and ending song. 3. A few corrections in character names: - Asako -> Mako - Senna (!) -> China - Marie -> Mary (this is confirmed in the SEQ name) (corrections are welcome) 4. Correctly tagged "Winter Mountain" tracks (vol.2, disc 2 of the album, track 24-26). The VGMdb one swapped these to "Summer Mountain". 5. Removed some duplicate streamed tracks and other digital tracks that were only previews (D##.DA.ape). 6. All is Gathered in a single !playlist.m3u file.
I did my best to tag the tracks that weren't in the albums, however, I didn't tag the misc streamed BGMs that are 20 seconds. No idea what those are, some of them are parodies from other songs and/or series.
I made sure I hadn't missed anything. Corrections to some of the track titles are welcome, especially for people who played this game.
Download. I think (?) absolutely no one asked for this, but I did it anyway.
Just found out something unfortunate about the Ninja Assault DSF rip. I always wondered why the dsp (reverb, chorus, etc) didn't work on most of the tracks and always assumed it may have been an emulator bug, but turns out it's not. I found someone's documetation on dtpks and their headers and used that to learn that all the tracks that are missing effects have no internal effects table whatsoever. It's being set by another dtpk and I'm not sure if the current python scripts support loading 2 dtpks at once.
