- Rune Factory 4 uses sequenced music (only the old stuff from Frontier is streamed, it seems) NSMB2 is also streamed.
- by starerik at 1:22 AM EST on November 7, 2014
- I can't believe Island Tour is MIDI. After MP8 and 9 you would think they'd go streamed with this, unless it's the MPDS team that just can't let go of the past.
Great work, soneek. However, it's a shame we can't get the music sounding like in-game though, with DSP effects like reverb.
- by Benjamin at 1:26 AM EST on November 7, 2014
- I hear it's because of the Download Play limitations that it's sequenced MIDI.
- by The12thGripper at 2:57 AM EST on November 7, 2014
- @starerik
Did you ever consider the idea of adding the reverb manually? It's not hard at all.
- by dj4uk6cjm at 3:12 AM EST on November 7, 2014
- @The12thGripper I've learned most sounds aren't too good if you add any kind of reverb to them other than the artificial reverb that comes from the engine, which will always be best.
- by starerik at 4:31 AM EST on November 7, 2014
- Don't ever do that, The12thGripper. dj4uk6cjm knows what's up. You do know that the engine reverb is very different from adding separately in some software? Different algorithms. Also, it's difficult to get it just right even if using the same type of reverb, you'd have to use different amounts and different settings on each channel just like how you compose a stream. But in 3DS's case, I don't know how it's done. Maybe it's one reverb coat over all channels, instead of different for each channel. But I do believe it's the latter if I understood an Iwata Asks article right.
- by Kurausukun at 4:47 AM EST on November 7, 2014
- @dj4uk6cjm NSMB2 is also streamed. You should check out 3sf.joshw.info if you ever want to know if something is streamed or not.
- by dj4uk6cjm at 4:59 AM EST on November 7, 2014
- What would be better is if we had a list of Wii U and 3ds games that use sequences or are confirmed sequenced music, a thread for this would suffice and help a lot of people. We could even add links to those converted into midi or soundfonts for them, just an idea.
- by starerik at 5:26 AM EST on November 7, 2014
- @dj4uk6cjm About the soundfonts for ALBW and NSMB2, get a Mac with Logic Pro, and you'll most likely find a big amount of the sounds used in any modern Nintendo game soundtrack.

Oh. Couldn't sworn the AAC files sounded better than the rips I made from the brstms I downloaded.
Maybe it's just winamp.
And there doesn't seem to be a windows version of the vgmstream plugin for Audacious.

I just noticed the other links with the soundfonts and midis were temp files, so I'm assuming those got deleted or something?

- I uploaded the ORAS music here: https://mega.co.nz/#!XEUUjD6Z!I2u_qx8k5ImFYEwi8Sk0YV82p3_FRUpUPIFo1ptDy_c
- by bobbyK at 10:08 PM EST on November 20, 2014
- Thanks a lot furrybob for the music!!! are those all the tracks tho, can you confirm or maybe some are missing?
I noticed the bcsar when extracted gives sound effects and also gives instrument notes, so maybe one can somehow create a soundfont with this :)
the instrument files are in bcwav but can be played in foobar2k and converted to wav for further processing or whatever, however there are tons of those small files (1583), so will take time to sort, etc whoever wants to adventure into creating a soundfont.

- @bobbyK The instrument files, are they the GBA originals?
- by bobbyK at 6:47 AM EST on November 21, 2014
- They don't sound gba originals, they sound like updated quality instruments, doesn't sound noisy or anything. Sounds like instruments that would come from the 3DS even tho some sound they could come from the DS versions Black/White, but still.
- by KIayer at 6:59 AM EST on November 21, 2014
- Could anyone write a guide for ripping audio files from 3DS roms?
Unfortunately, I dont find it and be glad for it.
- by soneek at 8:07 AM EST on November 21, 2014
- Those instruments are only for a sequence recycled from X/Y. I'll generate a soundfont later.
- by bobbyK at 10:13 AM EST on November 21, 2014
- @soneek
yea thanks for confirming, because I had the impression that a lot of instruments were missing anyway, so cannot make a full soundfont anyway.
- by starerik at 10:50 AM EST on November 21, 2014
- Weird, there's a list of all the music, jingles and sounds in the game and for example, alongside the stream file names are CSEQ ID's.
So one would think that there's a MIDI version of every song, that would play the GBA versions.
- by Kurausukun at 5:08 PM EST on November 21, 2014
- It looks to me like the OR rip is incomplete and we need an AS rip to supplement the missing legendary themes etc. Unless I'm not looking hard enough?

- by dissident93 at 10:19 AM EST on November 28, 2014
- the midi files are the original music, you must use the supplied soundfont to get them sounding like they do in-game (use BASSMIDI with foobar and then select the soundfont in the options)

OoT 3D will take a little while, since I don't have all of the sequences converting perfectly yet, and it's the same case with Animal Crossing. I have soundfonts though if people still want those.

- by TwinkTickler at 8:22 PM EST on November 30, 2014

From which game?
New leaf, the K.K songs are all sequenced.
There's already an sf2+midi around here...
I'll look for it.
- by dissident93 at 10:07 AM EST on December 1, 2014
- @TheMygoshi: are you sure you are using the foo_midi component? In the settings for the plugin, select BASSMIDI and then select the soundfont that the sf2+midi set comes with.
this is how it should look before you begin to play or convert any sf2+midi set.

Here is the official soundtrack selection (courtesy to original uploader) that can be used for comparing. By "selection" it means not all tracks are included and that's why I'm dreaming of an full extraction from game... Thank you again for the brilliant work!
