Quick question:
What about the SMG2's *_multi.ast? I can't play them in my build of vgm_stream and I don't see them in those mp3s posted here... Work in progress I guess?

I added a fourth disc to my SMG2 rip btw, which has all 19 multichannel files split out into two sets, so 38 tracks total. This means that the channel 1&2 tracks and the channel 3&4 tracks are separated for the disc 4 versions. All four channels are combined into two channels on the disc 1 and 2 versions to give them a "surround" sound.

Actually, looks like there's some tracks missing from the SMG2 rip. High Tail Falls has a remix of the Super Mario World "Athletic" theme. I checked all the .ast files and it's not in there rip. If I'm not mistaken it should be SMG2_galaxy17_strm.ast (which isn't in the collection).

Oh hey, afdx_bee is a Twinbee song. And afdx_gra is a Gradius medley. I wonder if afdx_bf and afdx_las are also from other games.

Man, this music sounds kind of weird. The Dreamcast music was already a weird synthy mix of techno and rock, but this stuff reminds me of Turbo CD music (not sure whether in a good way or a bad way).


edit: I guess I should post the two medleys in mp3 form so no Konami fans are forced to download 800mb of uncertain music.

The Gamecube FF:CC is not entirely sequenced. Mostly, yes (95% or more), but there are a few tracks which are not. I think there's 7 streamed files (I have them on my computer somewhere). The reason they're worth mentioning, is because they're the vocal tracks (the ones with lyrics). I don't remember who ripped it, or when, but there's definitely at least a few streamed tracks in the game that are worth hunting down. It was shared on these forums many months ago. I'll see if I can track them down on my computer. If not, hopefully someone else has them and can upload them again. Mouser X over and out.

Hi everybody, I just registered here. I want to thank you all for so much hard work that you've done ripping soundtracks. I've downloaded the sets that originate from posters here many times in a few different places. I have days and days worth of music thanks to you guys.

I'm posting in this thread because I want to know how I can get a hold of the music from Itadaki Street Portable in its original format. I would get it myself and not trouble anyone here, but I've looked at guides on how to rip PSP music but I seem to need a PSP to do it. So is it up on the tracker or could anyone upload it to file hosting site for me? I'd very much appreciate it because I finally was able to track down an MP3 set (I think it originated at GamingForce), and it sounds great and but the songs don't loop. I'd like to loop them and do it losslessly so the sound doesn't degrade any more from the compressed original. Of course I'd post my results here too.

The HDD that's on the computer I've been using (for internet access - My PC is fine) decided it didn't like the file table any more. I've spent the last 24 hours restoring files using Recuva, but files obtained via torrents are essentially 100% shot. I'm going to need to grab Xenoblade again as well, among many other things. :(

However, I can't do that right now, as the HDD is still being copied off of. I'm just mentioning this now, since I'll need some seeds on a few things in a few days. I'm not too happy about this. Mouser X over and out.

Well stink. I was listening to a recently released set (uses ADS), and VGMstream r795 from May 19 2010 incorrectly interpreted the loop points as 0 and 0 for start and end. This resulted in files that basically hung Winamp when you attempted to play them. Apparently, the files have no loop points (at least, the most recent version of VGMstream tells me this). So, why the confusion? I mean, why was VGMstream misinterpreting the loop points, and what (and when) was fixed?

Basically, this post is no longer necessary, since updating the plugin fixed the problem. Mouser X over and out.

It's not really about your OS. After all, it's not really a big problem. You could a) buy a new card that supports hardware mixing or b)just stay with it and just turn those 8+ channel files into wavs and toss them into audacity, for example, for listening.

Works for me, except I can't seek through files that VGMStream plays as it starts seeking really slowly and I have no idea why it does that. (All plugins must be set to 16-bit and not 24+)

Has someone managed to extract the music from Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 at all? I'm unfamiliar with the game and have no clue if it even has streamed music.

Yes, both Baten Kaitos and Baten Kaitos Origins have been ripped (and Origins). In fact, they were ripped quite a long time ago. Fragile Dreams (a Wii game) uses the same format as Baten Kaitos, interestingly enough.

If you have the ISOs to Baten Kaitos and Origins, extract all the files into their own directory (none of the useful ones have an extension), rename them with *.CFN (use a command prompt: ren *.* *.CFN), load them into Winamp, and see which ones are actually audio.

If you don't have the ISOs, manually search the HCS tracker (the search feature doesn't search the contents of the torrents. Thus, if it's in a compilation, the search won't find it) and see if it's there. If it's not, it should be on the UG tracker (the entire NGC set was uploaded there).

In most cases, streamed audio extraction is extremely easy. Figuring out the format they use (and getting it implemented in VGMstream) is usually where the hangup is. This is an "old" rip, so it's been in VGMstream for quite awhile. Hope that helps. Mouser X over and out.

Hey, I downloaded the whole set of BLEACH- Heat the Soul, but trying to convert the AT3s with HiMDRenderer it tells me "ERROR:[1686-0-0]: The specified AT3 file is not supported. HIMDRenderer can only convert AT3's that have a bitrate supported by SonicStage. : [Unknown Atrac bitrate]"

What can I do to be able to listen to this music? Help a noob, please. :D

That's because it uses ATRAC3 not ATRAC3plus (SonicStage). For this you need the directshow codec. Here it is
After you're done installing this, add the AT3 extension to Winamp's Directshow Decoder.

Yeah well I listened to them all.. PS2 sounds better IMO, but yeah the Dreamcast version is quite good though missing songs as its legends only not DL.. I prefer the arcade version actually ;-)

You can always upload them to the tracker. If you update the PSF2s, be sure to send a copy of the updated set to PSF Mirror #1.

For xSF files, some would find it preferable to provide a PSFpoint compatible *.BAT file. This *.BAT file would allow others to run the batch (assuming they have PSFpoint), which would tag the files, and rename them. This way, people don't have to redownload the entire xSF set, but instead download a small text file (with the *.bat extension), saving space and bandwidth. However, in general, xSF sets aren't large, so most people don't mind redownloading the entire set.

Regarding streamed sets though, I think it would be strongly recommended that you provide a *.BAT file that renames the files appropriately (since no tagging method currently exists, "tagging" streamed files consists of renaming the files). This saves people hundreds of megabytes (depending on the set(s)), and almost everyone can use it (ex: ren "original filename.stream" "tagged filename.stream" - the " marks are necessary if the file names are to include spaces). While, yes, you could upload the renamed files to the tracker, is it really worth it to you to do it that way? It saves bandwidth of those downloading it, and it saves you from having to upload all that data, when a simple text file (with a *.bat extension) will do the job just fine. And there's hundreds of places to host a small batch file (being text, even pastbin would take it).

Obviously, snakemeat's method would work, but IMO, it's not necessarily the best method (though, obviously, this depends on what it is you're really trying to accomplish. For example, if you're end-goal is to have the streamed files available in their renamed form on the HCS tracker, then I suppose you might as well be the one to upload it). Perhaps, for those who have already downloaded whatever set it is you want to tag, you could provide the renaming *.bat file, and also upload the set to the tracker. This way, those who have already downloaded it wouldn't have to spend the bandwidth to download it again (I, for one, won't redownload it just to get new file names).

Anyway, there's my (possibly extensive) opinion on the matter. Mouser X over and out.

Thank you for your idea, I do think that would be the best method for dealing with streamed sets. But I was actually meaning not for the tracker but for places like vgm.hcs64 and zophar.net and Lawrence Lin's PSF mirror, where sets are hosted and sometimes get updates. I assume when it gets updated here the other places follow suit. I suppose then this is a question mainly targeted at sequenced rather than streamed music, so sorry for off-topic.

I named, tagged and put in the proper order the SSF files for Dragon Force II, corresponding to the soundtrack album. And I know a guy who is very familiar with Diver's Dream for the Playstation and would like to tag and re-order the tracks for that (although there are a lot of streams in it). I'd like to try with Atelier Judie but the sheer size and my unfamiliarity with it makes it seem daunting. It is only a few sets, but I wanted to know if we could submit our work to these places for other people's benefit too.
