Elemental Gimmick Gear by FunkyPoopMonkey at 11:11 PM EDT on October 24, 2005
MaskedTomato told me to ask on here if any of you guys have his rip of Elemental Gimmick Gear, a Dreamcast game. I was hopping to acquire it from somebody. Thanks.
A couple questions by FireDivine at 8:04 PM EDT on October 29, 2005
I would like to learn how to rip USF's.

I would like some pointers with how to learn programming and where to find programs I need and such.

Like I read the USF FaQ but I could not find Microsoft Visual C++ anywhere I only saw Visual Studio.

Thanks for the help.
Auto Audio HLE by hcs at 10:54 PM EST on October 30, 2005
This is a very convenient feature for people with slower computers and I'd like to make it as useful as possible. in_usf.ini contains the settings which I've determined from a quick test run of the USFs; ones that sound unchanged to me with Audio HLE enabled are set to automatically use it when Auto Audio HLE is enabled. Unfortunately as we recently saw with Mario Kart 64 my checking is not exhaustive, some tracks in that game sounded wrong with Audio HLE (and since I had mistakenly enabled Auto Audio HLE for it some assumed it was a problem with the rip or player, putting their faith in my testing procedure).
Thus I need the help of people who use this feature, if something sounds wrong try disabling Auto Audio HLE and see if that improves things. If it won't play at full speed use the Disk Writer output plugin to create a WAV and listen to that. I'd like to make the settings for Auto Audio HLE as accurate as possible.
Turok Dinosaur Hunter - Missing track? by Lunar at 11:29 PM EST on October 31, 2005
Unless I've somehow missed it in the rip, the rip is missing the "underwater" music. I uploaded an mp3 of it <a href="http://lunar.shakal.net/Turok%20Dinosaur%20Hunter%20-%20Underwater.mp3">here</a>.

USF - Nintendo Ultra 64 Sound Format
brute force ROMhacking since 2004
FAQ
Greetings, Guest, won't you sign the Guest Book?
Or visit the forum?
I've got a system for requests set up

If you're familiar with PSF you'll immediately recognize USF: it's an attempt to do the same thing with the Nintendo 64. For the uninitiated...

USF is a file format which contains all the data needed to play a song from an N64 game. Once the song has been ripped into a USF file you can load it up in a player (such as the 64th Note Winamp Plugin) and listen to the music.
You'll see that most USF sets are actually many miniUSF files and a single USFlib file. The USFlib contains data common to all songs (such as sample data or player code), while the miniUSF files contain data specific to each song (the sequence for the song, or bits of code specific to the song). The miniUSF file contains a reference to the USFlib file, and both must be located in the same directory for the player to find the USFlib.
USF Specification

Ripping USFs is a nontrivial task. The gist of it is you fiddle with an N64 ROM until you get it doing nothing but playing music, then you run it through a series of utilities I've written to remove unused data. The most useful tool is the Interactive Disassembler (IDA). You can use SIG files for the N64's standard library, libultra to aid you in navigating N64 ROMs with IDA, or you can generate your own based on other libraries you might have with my N64 OBJ to PAT parser. I've also assembled a Project 64 Save State Loader for IDA which often makes analysis much easier.
Differences from PSF
PSF ripping is aided by the fact that PS games are segmented into files, and it is usually possible to isolate the sound code fairly thoroughly. N64 games are one huge chunk of code, and very little navigation aid is available beyond what can be determined from the use of library calls. Once a game has been hacked to play only the song the ripper requests it is then reduced to the minimum code and data needed to do so. Unfortunately it is likely that non-music code remains in the USF rip, which serves no purpose other than to slow down the entire system. This depends on the skill of the ripper.
As there is no standard N64 EXE format, as there is for PS, I had to come up with a way of quickly loading a bit of code without having to go through the entire N64 boot process. For this I include a save state in the file. This also aids in working with games which are compressed, I can work directly with the uncompressed data in RAM via the savestate rather than figuring out how it fits into the ROM.
PSF files are internally compressed. USF files use a sparse storage scheme, in which only data which is not zero is stored. Any unused data in the ROM or save state is replaced with zeroes (as with PSF). This brings file size down by a lot (the elimination of zero data is the primary purpose for PSF's compression) but also allows for a more efficient external compression of the files.

64th Note

64th Note is a USF plugin for Winamp, based on Project64 1.4 by Zilmar and Jabo and Azimer's HLE Audio Plugin. It requires major CPU and memory resources, 300 MHz and 64 MB are the minimum for the least-intensive USF sets, but requirements vary greatly between sets.

Download current version:
64th Note v0.09 installer
64th Note v0.09 binary
64th Note v0.09 source
Download beta version:
64th Note v1.0 beta 22 (in development! read the forum thread for more information)

It is strongly recommended that you use the most recent version!
64th Note now uses NSIS to install without much user effort, however this will not work if you don't have Winamp installed.

This is a winamp plugin I've been working on (based on some source Destop gave me a while ago) that plays a variety of Gamecube streamed formats based on the "DSP" ADPCM format. Just now I got the Super Smash Bros. Melee HPS files working (though I'm told there are some that don't work...)

in_dsp

Take a look if you have access to GC images.

[edit]

New version, 1.5, up just now. Works on all the HPS files, looping and not, now that I have a greater understanding of the HALPST format.

Best N64 Music ever made by PdZ at 12:13 AM EST on November 13, 2005
Hello@all

I dont know, if someone also asked this but otherwise here is the question:

Which N64 Music/Usf-Set, N64-Music which isn't ripped here is the best u ever listened? Also why it is the best?

In my Opinion, the best I would say, is the Blast Corps music.Iam really sure that I choose this set. There are very much songs which are nearly perfect for my ears.If I hear songs like "Mission Description....usf" or "006.Simian Acress...usf" I feel very good :D.There are of course much songs in other N64 games which are great, but the Blast Corps music, I think, has a special flair.
Iam wondering how u think...

bay PdZ

I also want to add, that I don't think so, because of the fact, that I tagged the Blast Corps set...The reason for tagging HCS Blast Corps Set "was", that I really think Blast Corps roxx the house.

The Official DSP Distribution Thread by marioman at 6:30 AM EST on November 22, 2005
Since hcs wants the in_dsp thread to only contain comments about the plugin and the DSP forum has been taken down, I figured that I better start this.

I guess I didn't really understand how big DSPs are. I just got the Star Fox Assault soundtrack (big thanks to Mouser X), and the whole thing spans a whopping 188 MB. When you guys said that the DSPs were big, I thought that you meant as bug as a GYM log. However, the STA DSPs are almost as big as my WHOLE GYM collection.

In light if this "significant" discovery. (I guess I was asleep when you guys were discussing file size.) I am going to revise my DSP wishlist, not only to save my HD space, but also to make your guys lives easier. Here is my revised list:

Super Monkey Ball (Entire soundtrack)
Super Monkey Ball 2 (Entire soundtrack)
Luigi's Mansion (E. Gadd's Lab and Gameboy Horror Themes Only)

I may ask for more later, but this is all for now. The list mostly consists of soundtracks that I already have on low-quality MP3, but I would like to get them in a higher-quality format. (ie. No sound effects in the music.)

Thanks for your help. I hope to get these soon.

Anyone else interested in sending/receiving DSPs feel free to post here - this isn't my personal thread.

64th Note v1.0 by hcs at 3:45 AM EST on November 23, 2005
I fixed one last irritating little bug (the Escape key will now close any dialog) and since it has been several weeks since a bug report it's that time!

Version 1.0!

I've got 18 newly "complete" USF sets uploading now, the USF table will be updated when they're all in place.
Also, Winamp's plugin submission process sucks. I must see if I can get Dr0 to put it up for me if this doesn't work out... (I deleted it from winamp.com a long while ago, because I was unable to update it and would rather not have the old version there).

Yoshis Story Still Wrong *mad* by Emil007 at 3:01 PM EST on November 23, 2005
Hi

you know i've tagged Yoshis Story and you have made it complete now, but there are a few mistakes i told you but you didnt work them out

The "composer Name Fixed by UNKNOWNFILE" is wrong, i had "Kazumi Totaka" and UNKNOWNFILE fixed it to "Kazumi Tokata" , which is wrong. (Search Google for both names)

also there were a few mistakes in the old tag, and 5 unknown-tracks, now there is only one left. Also my "new" version includes an usf of the first track and 3 Playlists

i hope you will fix it now and not ignore me like last time i send you my fix....
I think a complete set should be perfect :P

Can anyone confirm this? (Diddy Kong Racing) by Vague Rant at 6:56 PM EST on November 23, 2005
02. Title Theme.miniusf ("Title Theme") seems to be missing a few notes between 0:42 and 0:44, played while Pipsy (the yellow mouse) is introduced on screen if you've got the game handy. Is this issue occurring on anyone else's set, or have I ruined something?

The notes are missing with Audio HLE on or off.

EDIT: If anyone's interested, I've got a couple of mp3s--one of how it sounds on my machine, and another of how it should sound for comparison.

What do you use in your Winamp effects chain? by Apx at 2:22 AM EST on November 24, 2005
Like the title says, what plugins/hardware do you use to enhance your listening experience in winamp?

I used to use this crossfeed dsp plugin for awhile til I got around to building my own using the various schematics in the Signal Processors section of the Headwize projects page. And now that I used it for half a year, I just can't live without it. ;P I know that last part sounds a bit clich?, but that's the truth :P

Sound Interpolation by kemenaran at 7:07 AM EST on November 26, 2005
64th Note is wonderfull, I can count the tracks I listen with it :D

However, while listening the recently dumped Extreme-G tracks, I noticed that the plugin really needs some system of sound interpolation, like in the SPCAMP plugin for Winamp (I believe it uses the ZNES sound engine). I think Sound interpolation greatly improve the quality of sound, making them sound less like basic synthetisor and more like playing N64 on TV...

Is anything planned in this direction ?
USF Central Downtime by hcs at 1:30 PM EST on November 27, 2005
You may notice that the links on USF Central are missing. All the files are still there but I've removed the links to save bandwidth. In the last four days nearly all of my bandwidth for the month was used up, only about 1 GB is left until December. I finally got off my ass and updated the ZD archive, but Yoshi's Story isn't up there because I gather it's still somewhat unfinal.

Prelim sets can be had here.

"17. Boulder Canyon" is messed up. In the game, the song changes when you enter a tunnel inside the castle, instead the usf plays both versions at the same time. It could also be longer than 38 seconds.

I'm nitpicking mostly, it's a good set, thanks UNKNOWNFILE, wherever you are.

Paper Mario - missing Boss Battle theme by Zerodius at 9:54 AM EST on December 8, 2005
I just noticed a slight problem with the Paper Mario soundtrack... about the Lava Piranha battle theme.

There should be two battles themes, one for the first form and another for the second form... but only the second form theme is there.

I've read the form info and it says to be wary of a variation with the wrong pitch.

My comment: Did you played the game? That famous "wrong" version is the first form's theme!

I've tried to find the old preliminary set in order to get the first form's theme in there and then submit it to the site... but well, the old preliminary set was deleted.

So... can someone fix that issue?
MK64 composer info by Lunar at 6:07 AM EST on December 10, 2005
I just noticed something regarding the Mario Kart 64 rip. The composers are wrong. The rip credits Koji Kondo and Hajime Wakai. Koji Kondo certainly did not compose for the game, and I very much doubt Hajime Wakai had anything to do with it. I am certain that it is infact Kenta Nagata that composed for MK64.

I hope it's not too late, though I guess it is. Thought I should point that out anyway.
Non-ripped games... by Zerodius at 6:10 PM EST on December 12, 2005
I have noticed that some games still don't have even a preliminary set... so I'm asking myself... any progress on new USF sets?

Anyway... I don't know if it was attempted already... but here are some games for those looking for games to rip but who are out of ideas:

-Pokemon Puzzle League
-Chameleon Twist 2
-Dark Rift

Well, that were only suggestions for those willing to do USF rips... and I think that those games have some decent music and as such, would be worth the time... most probably.

Well... thank you for your time.

Mario Party 2 Missing Song by Tanookirby at 10:02 AM EST on December 16, 2005
There is a song missing in the Mario Party 2 Soundtrack you have. The song is another version of "Know What I Mean?" that plays during the Honeycomb Havoc minigame. You'll notice the difference between the two versions if you hear them loop.
Mario Golf Prelim by wrldwzrd89 at 5:02 PM EST on December 17, 2005
I have gone through the Mario Golf preliminary USF set and touched up the tags a bit. What I have done is reordered everything so it makes more sense, given the minusfs official names like 01 Mario Golf - Intro.miniusf, and fixed several tags so they made more sense. I put an updated tag batch script on my web site here for everyone to download and check out.
Problems Playing USFs and MiniUSFs by Draca at 11:33 PM EST on December 19, 2005
I used to be able to play both formats in Winamp, but now it's giving me an error message. Any idea how I can get these to work again? I like Winamp because I can convert the files to wavs and eventually to mp3s via ModPlug Tracker. Are there are other players out there?

Something is wrong with my 64th note Plugin. When the Donkey Kong 64 usfs are on the winamp playlist, they are not listed as game title and name of song. How do I fix that?
Saturn Castlevania PCM playback? by JILost at 11:23 AM EST on December 20, 2005
Hi. I have tried countless software, playback methods, and configurations for playing back the Castlevania: SotN .pcm files, but all I get is horrible, horrible static and noise with music burried somewhere beneath it. Cassini (a Saturn emulator) can play back the sound test flawlessly, but the emulator is slow and thus the playback is jerky and repetitive. If anyone would like to take a stab at it, here is a randomly selected song:

http://www.purpleguppy.net/music/SD1D.PCM

Beware: it's "I am the Wind." It's music, though.

Note: This is not an "OMG PUT SEGA ADPCM SUPOART N IN_CUBE.DLL" request--since, to my knowledge, this format was never used in GCN games. This is more of an "I'm sick of these things giving me static, please help me figure out how to play them back/convert them to WAV properly!" request. I just figured you guys might be able to crack the case since you seem good at figuring out these other PCM formats.

USF Player Found by patrick at 4:59 AM EST on January 5, 2006
If you are finding it hard to configure Winamp to play your USF files, use Coolplayer.
All you have to do is download the ZIP file and extract the program. Then you put the 64th note DLLs into the same folder, open the program and VOILA! you can open your USF files by right-clicking the menu bar. To get your USF's to show up, set the File type to 'All Files'. Hope this helps!

Latest version of 64th Note doesn't work. by Sonmari at 3:05 PM EST on January 13, 2006
I saw an earlier thread addressing this, but the poster's problem seemed a bit different from mine.

A few days ago, I downloaded 64th Note v 1.0 FINAL (Winamp plugin). I tried to play some miniusf files from Mario Party 3 (and later F-Zero X), but they did not work. When I saw an earlier suggestion to turn on error display, I did that and this is the message I got:

Failed to open file: (file location)
error reading USF

I tried reinstalling Winamp (v. 5.111) and later got the latest version (v. 5.12), but I still get the same error message. All of my input plugins are the one's I chose to install with Winamp except for these four. They are:

a) Meridian GBS player v 0.2 (x86)
b) GYM file player 0.1.6.4 (x86)
c) Alpha II SPC Player v 3.2 (x86)
d) Highly Advanced 0.11 (x86)

I checked the archives for Mario Party 3 and F-Zero X and they nad neither viruses nor archive errors. Is there a way to fix this, or will I have to just go back to the last version of 64th note?
ADX's by JILost at 6:02 PM EST on January 14, 2006
I realize that Raiden III isn't a Gamecube game (it's a PS2 game), but the music -is- in ADX format and is currently unplayable by in_cube.dll. I thought you guys (or possibly just hcs) might want to investigate and consider adding support for this new(?) ADX format.

Converting files by Spitfire at 2:38 PM EST on January 28, 2006

Error when opening USFs by Lunar at 1:30 PM EST on January 31, 2006
This has started happening just today. I opened some USFs this morning and they were fine. Now, none of them open at all. They give me this error:

"Failed to allocate N64MEM"
"Allocate_Memory failed"

After that, nothing happens. Hitting "play" will of course make the error happen again. I reinstalled 64th note in hope that it might solve the problem, but alas, no luck.

Any idea what may cause this? It's strange that it'd suddenly stop working. I was messing with installing a TV tuner plugin today, and I'm wondering if that might have had something to do with it.

Mr. Drill Drill Land rip? by CGally81 at 10:48 AM EST on February 12, 2006

Bomberman Jetters DSP by Dubble at 12:31 PM EST on February 19, 2006
I just spent some time downloading the torrent and playing them back in winamp with the current in_cube plugin and well over half of the tracks seem to be REALLY BAD - as in lots of static and messed up tracks with other tunes popping in betwwwn others.

I'm curious as to whether the set is like this for anybody else or is it just me (main reson I ask was because I was really looking forward to hearing these tunes -__-).

ToonPal on USF by ToonPal at 11:53 AM EST on February 28, 2006
PSF is a pretty impressive invention, being able to take just the minimum code and data for a piece of music from a game for any supported system, pack it into a single file, and play through a program/plugin that simply emulates only the necessary console hardware to play back the tune on a reasonably-equipped desktop computer.

USF is no less impressive, although from what I've learned from trying out all the different tunes that have been ripped, it's been a somewhat silly yet educational experience.

Before emulation, I thought that the N64 sound system was comparable to that of the Sony Playstation. Man, was I surprised at how wrong that assumption was! The audio hardware behavior now reminds me of a Sound Blaster 16! I'm saddened to see how the system is forced to make the little 90MHz CPU do the sound mixing work AND run the rest of the game at the same time! I was surprised when I saw so many rips getting played back at mixing rates of 32 kHz and less! Getting as low as 22 from what I've tried out so far! Those poor game developers! Having seen the Konami Goemon game soundtracks press forward with full 44kHz soundtrack leaves me extremely impressed! It sounded like they had to avoid the use of reverb and stuff to make it work without taxing the CPU, but it still sounded great! Alright, enough exclamation points! ...points.

It's pretty sad to see the memory allocated to play back just one song being equal to that of the full size of the ROM from which it was ripped and also the CPU time necessary to emulate an N64 CPU running at near-half-load to play the music right. I have a pretty good idea of why these things must be done, and I bet all you emulator developers also think it's sad that such extremes must be taken to make it work.

I bet some of you also think, "Dear Lord! What ever happened to the simpler times of gaming sound system emulation like that of the SNES SPC!?" :>
USF is for rips by ToonPal at 12:36 PM EST on February 28, 2006
The USF format is handy for ripping music from N64 games and making them fully playable on a computer without having to resort to recording the tunes to WAV or MP3 files or re-writing the software for playing back the game's music on native, non-N64 hardware.

But what about when software DOES exist to play certain music data formats stored in N64 programs on desktop computers? A couple of Dynamix intro sound rips were posted in USF format a number of months ago. But I think it can hardly be considered a "rip". The reason I say this is that the music data in the ROMs are in MOD format, a format highly supported on the PC! Why I should have to emulate the N64 to enjoy a couple of MODs is beyond me. I'm no programmer, but after grabbing my own copy of the Dynamix intro ROM images and beating on them with EDIT.COM, I had truly "ripped" three tunes that I was able to play with a PC MOD music player! They sounded a whole lot better, too, and took a lot less memory to play than the click-filled, memory-hogging N64 player. Heck, I was even able to find these particular tunes up for download from various Internet sites when I "Googled" the song titles I found in the ROM images.

Anyway, I guess it just cracks me up. I can't program myself out of a paper bag, but here I've gone and made three "N64 tunes" available for playback on the PC without having to do any fancy programmer! Ha ha ha! [sigh]

I need a salad.

Dr. Mario 64 Tag Corrections by marioman at 8:40 AM EST on March 5, 2006
Thanks to a certain blessed division of certain Final Fantasy site, I have been able to download MP3s of the Dr. Mario 64 soundtrack. When Mouser tagged this set, I did not think that some of the tracks were tagged properly. (I am not saying anything bad about you Mouser - you did a good job.) However, I could not confirm this because I did not have the game or the soundtrack.

Anyway, now I have gone through and identified all of the tracks. My numbering system may be a little awkward, but I will try to label clearly.

Current Track# - Proper tag

01 - Title
02 - Select a Mode
03 - Fever
04 - Fever (Critical!)
05 - Chill
06 - Chill (Critical!)
07 - Cube
08 - Cube (Critical!)
09 - Que Que
10 - Que Que (Critical!)
11 - You Win
12 - You Win (Short)
13 - Vs. Rudy
14 - Vs. Rudy (Critical!)
15 - Story Mode 1
16 - Story Mode 4
17 - Level Clear
18 - You Lose
19 - You Lose (Short)
20 - Story Mode 3
21 - Story Mode 2
22 - Story Mode 5
23 - Credits
24 - Let's Try A New Challenge

In light of these changes, the track numbers/ordering will have to be changed. I just thought that I would bring this to Mouser's attention so the proper adjustments can be made.

Thanks.
Furries are satanists by unknownfile at 2:06 PM EST on March 8, 2006
Let me copy and paste these lines from #usf...

(19:00:29) <UFBot> satan is a humanoid animal, which means he is a furry
(19:00:51) <UFBot> in turn, that means that all furries are satanists

In case you don't know what a furry is, allow me to borrow *coughSTEALcough* this entry from the not always accurate Encyclopedia Dramatica:

If furries were dudes who like hardbodied 19-year-old girls in bunny suits, there'd be no need for an article here. Furries are, in fact, the opposite: people who are out to ruin the fun of wearing costumes for sex for everyone.

This is what happens when kids are raised by television cartoons, constantly told to play with talking teddy bears, or excessively roleplay the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles RPG. The furry subculture can also be viewed as the product of an unholy miscegenation of hick and nerd culture, much like HIV is thought to have developed as a result of humans fucking chimpanzees. The circumstantial evidence for this view is strong in that furry culture has strong elements of animal fucking, a popular hick pastime, and significant links to anime, a staple of nerd civilization.

Furries are disturbing due to the intricate, full-body suits?known as fursuits?every furry will eventually build one and most will only have sex with them on, often while using tickling furshampoo. Furry artwork tends to species-blend and be overtly sexual. Furries claim to be born the way they are, like fags, but they're actually just delusional and chose to be furry to fit in with someone, as every other subculture has rejected them. packetgrinder theorizes most furries are simply run-of-the-mill fags who are too grotesque to convince others have anal sex with them unless their flabby zit-covered bodies are completely cloaked in a 50/50 cotton-poly tiger costume.

A bit overly accurate if you ask me. Except for them being homosexual.

This has been an informative message from your local UNKNOWNFILE.
homebrew Dracula X: Rondo of Blood ADX files by JILost at 11:25 PM EST on March 10, 2006
http://lost.voidaudio.net/music/cvrob-adx.rar

I created these out of boredom, experimentation, and curiousity as to how the songs would sound looped "properly" (like the SNES versions, mostly) and indefinitely. I didn't upload to the tracker because I wasn't sure if homebrew-ish things like this were kosher, but I figured the in_cube crowd might enjoy something new, so here they are. Enjoy.

Note: I also included in_cube itself since the rar is being linked to on other sites. I'm sure none of you need it, but that's why I included it.

Yoshi's Story Rips/Mp3s? by rebelx24 at 10:41 AM EST on March 12, 2006
Hi,
USF is a great format, but unfortunately for me, I own a Mac, and there's currently no way to play them on that platform. I was wondering if anybody who has the Yoshi's Story USFs converted those tracks into mp3s. I'm specifically looking for the non-numbered ones (the ones that come after 28: Options of Love), as those are the ones that aren't on the CD soundtrack. If I had the ability, I'd convert them myself, but I don't. Is there anybody that can help me out with this? Thanks.

He did have Winamp and 64th Note, but I only gave him individual tracks from several games; don't know if that had anything to do with it, but I don't see why it would. Any help here, anyone? Single USF Tracks by marioman at 1:11 PM EST on March 16, 2006
This may be a dumb question, but is there a way to rip one or two tracks from a usflib? (Or any xsflib for that matter.) I would like to streamline my XSF collection a little bit by ripping the one or two tracks that I like from some sets.

Mp3 Conversions of BK/BT? by rebelx24 at 7:31 PM EST on March 19, 2006
Okay, so just to remind everyone, I'm the guy with the Mac who can't play these things and wishes he could. That being said, I was wondering if anybody has made mp3 conversions of a couple of these sets, and if I could get them somehow, so I can appreciate the music in the absence of USFs. The sets I'm interested in are Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. I am very fond of the tunes from these two games and would love to have them. Anybody got 'em? Thanks in advance.

I should add that the main reason I'm asking about these is that it's virtually impossible to find complete soundtracks to these games, unlike many other N64 games. The CD versions of the soundtracks were so far from complete it wasn't even funny :P.

Before I finish, I have a question. Some of the music is used for many levels, should I make the track name the first level in which the music appears or should I go ahead and list all of the levels where it is played?

As soon as I get a response, I will get it finished up.

Conker's Bad Fur Day: Missing Track by MrDoomMaster at 8:06 AM EDT on April 5, 2006
In the game, there's a cut scene where Conker enters a huge volcanic room with a large "mouth" in the middle. As he enters, a song is supposed to play that begins with a guy saying "hit it". It's a jungly, drummy song and pretty much the best one in the game. This song was not found in the current release.

Please include this song as it is very good.
Technical question for hcs about ADX by gomtuu at 6:04 PM EDT on April 9, 2006
Hello. I've recently run into the ADX format while trying to rip music from a PS2 game called Stella Deus, so they're kind of new to me.

I found your Winamp plugin and I'm excited about the fact that it supports ADX looping. However, I'm a little frustrated by the fact that different ADX decoders seem to produce output at different volumes.

From what I understand, everybody's ADX decoders come from code written by somebody named "bero," but at some point someone decided his output was too loud because it was making some games clip, so they changed the BASEVOL setting in his code. Some decoders, like adxutil 1.0 and bero's own adx2wav 0.2, use the higher value, while others, like adxutil 2.2.1 and in_cube 0.18, apparently use the lower value.

I've done a test where I encoded a WAV into an ADX using adxencd, then decoded it with all four of the utilities mentioned above. The first two produce a WAV that's about the same as the original. The last two produce WAVs that are about half as loud as the original. When I turn on in_cube's Low Volume setting, its output is even quieter.

(BTW, the reason I did this test was because I was noticing the same volume difference between different players when I was decoding the ADX files from the game, so I don't think it's my encoder.)

Can you explain this issue? Am I perhaps doing something wrong?

Thanks,
-gomtuu
Peter S. Conway on the Loose! by unknownfile at 10:54 AM EDT on April 10, 2006
I got bored in English class today and started sketching some sketches of me being about ten times taller than I am now. I gradually expanded one of the sketches into the story below. I might continue this later.

Peter S. Conway Terrorizes Tokyo

TOKYO ? Yesterday, a large rumbling was detected. Professor Sumu Gai (pronounced: ?some guy?) and his team of researchers got on this right away. Schools were evacuated for the student?s safety. Manga artists immediately put down their pens. And Americans continued to ruin the environment.

Then out of nowhere, into the streets came the huge figure of Peter S. Conway, a result of a nuclear experiment gone wrong. He said, in English, ?Hello! How is everyone doing today?? The residents fled in horror because they could not understand English and/or loathed the United States, where Conway is not actually from anyways. Conway then requested, ?Does anyone have an ice tea??

It was then that the helicopters arrived. ?Do you have any ice tea?? asked Conway, to which the choppers kindly responded with a missile fired at Conway?s?well, let?s not go there. After screaming in extreme pain, Conway fled into the Pacific Ocean. About an hour later, Conway was sighted by Adam Gashlin, who was shipwrecked when the S. S. Hit crashed into God?s foot, which He was washing at the time. Gashlin commented, ?I think this guy is an ass. He asked me for an ice tea, and I said, ?This is a frickin? lifeboat, do you think I have ice teas in here??? He then took out an ice tea onboard his lifeboat and said, ?What an ass??

Conway, who was affected by a nuclear experiment while visiting the local porn shop, is currently 80 feet high and counting.

Conker's Conversions by rebelx24 at 6:31 PM EDT on April 10, 2006
That reminds me, since somebody mentioned that missing track: anybody have mp3 conversions of the Conker's USF files? If not, then hey, help is on the way for me, with Boot Camp coming out and all :). Just wanted to know, so that I don't have to wait until I get an Intel-based Mac (which should be several months from now). Thanks.

Welcome to the New Server by hcs at 1:13 PM EDT on April 25, 2006
This will be the new halleyscometsoftware.com as soon as I can get the domain name issues sorted out.
Sorry about the downtime, but my old host really sucked.

Cookies don't yet work on the forum (since the domain isn't right), and I'm sure a lot of links are broken, I'll be working on those.

Anyone I was giving web space to should contact me to set up your new ftp account and get info on MySQL.
Super Conflict (SNES) SPC Set by Samuel at 5:37 PM EDT on April 25, 2006
I've looked everywhere for the Super Conflict SPC files and can't find them anywhere. Could somebody please rip it for me? I'd really appreciate it.
The rom is located here:

The music in this game really kicks ass! =)
Sega Fantasy IV and V English translations by FireDivine at 2:42 AM EDT on April 30, 2006
I know the person that translated Japanese Flash movie Sega Fantasy VI.

His real name is Gabe Glick, and his AIM is ANT Link15.

He says if he gets enough signatures of people that wants both Sega Fantasy IV and V to be translated, that he will do them.

He says that he would like to get donations, if anyone would like to donate. A sum of 500 dollars would motivate him to work on them even faster. Donations are of course, optional.

The more signatures, and the more donations he gets, would get the two Japanese flashes done even faster.

This is the site of the Japanese Sega Fantasy flashes:

This is a link to the English one that he translated:

So what are you waiting for?

Turok 2 by MrDoomMaster at 4:21 PM EDT on May 3, 2006
I'm not sure how much this has been requested, but it would be really nice to see a Turok 2 rip sometime. I've been waiting forever for it.

I understand you guys are very busy. Whenever you get to it is fine, as long as it's before I die :P

Let me know what your plans are for this one. Thanks!
