Nudge me in the right direction..? by wolupgm6 at 1:06 AM EDT on June 29, 2010
Alright, here's the situation. Megadeth's album "Rust In Peace" has been released for Rockband DLC. I managed to track down the DLC update online, but I have no intention of using it with Rockband. I merely wish to decrypt the moggs (multi-track ogg files) within it. After many hours of sampling around with numerous programs such as Arktools and RawkSD, I still have nothing. And then I stumbled upon something online. Someone had one of the vocal tracks. It had no distortion or such (from which you'd expect from a center-panned audio isolation method), and sounded exactly like the original. As far as things are considered, this means that it was taken from the mogg. Google has failed me, so I ask the elite here to help nudge me in the right direction, or to try the decryption process themselves. Link to the DLC update torrent will be provided, but due to legal reasons, only upon request.

Hmm. Thats about it. Hope I didnt forget anything, and thanks in advance.

You mentioned there were numerous guides on how to disassemble a gigabeat S (to remove dust from underneath the screen) but I can't seem to find anything other than this.
As it is right now, I've got it stripped down without the hard drive or battery using that guide, but how to continue taking it apart, I'm at a bit of a loss, and I'd rather not try to "figure it out" and end up with 200$ down the drain... So could you point me to some of those guides you had mentioned a while ago?

Winamp 5.58 doesn't load VGMStream. by Franpa at 12:43 PM EDT on July 2, 2010
I re-copied the DLL after installing 5.58 when I first noticed the problem, assuming the Winamp installer wasn't fixed to not break some plugins yet but the problem persists.

edit: actually, I forgot to replace the addional DLL files required just in case they got corrupt from Winamp installer too.

vgmstream config not saving by Timber at 6:38 PM EDT on July 2, 2010
Hi hcs,

I'm using the in_vgmstream plugin on an application that is not winamp, and it is working perfectly, except that the config will not save, thus I can't get my ogg files to loop forever.

I tried in_cube, and that config saves fine, although it won't play my ogg files.

So I was wondering if it was possible for you or anyone else to make a version of vgmstream with config that saves similar to in_cube, or even simply defaults to 'loop forever', because that is all I need.

Thanks for your time,
Justin.

Wii and Gamecube Source Audio Streams by Starman_DX at 8:43 PM EDT on July 5, 2010
I'm just wondering if I can get some source audio stream files (i.e. Mario Kart: Double Dash!!'s audio streams are ".ast")

If it is possible, I would like:

Mario Kart Wii

If you can't do this for me, it's alright.
War for Cybertron, unreadable mp3's from fsbs by pepper at 1:52 PM EDT on July 6, 2010
This game seems to use FSB4 files, containing mp3's.

only problem is, when i use fsb mpeg or fsb ext on an extracted fsb from the SoundNodeWaveEX file, i get either a headerless mp3, or possibly just garbage, either way its unplayable for me. it seems to think its done good though, telling success!

http://filebox.me/view/1fhdrz0uf

that's one of the files, i can provide as many as nessecary.

Game Soundtrack Directory project... by Hotcakes at 4:49 AM EDT on July 11, 2010
OK so I have in the past week started up a 'little' project. Basically it involves cataloguing pretty much any game sound track release I can find and putting them all in one easily accessible place. This mostly came about because the fact that the (for example) Kingdom Hearts II streams and psfs are split into separate archives and distribution channels bothers me. :)

http://soundtrack.wikia.com

The last few days I've been combing just a couple of sites so most of the entries so far are pretty bare, but I have done 1500 entries in that time and by the end of the month I expect to have gone through 4 or 5 sites so the listings should be pretty adequate.

Basically at this point I'm gauging interest levels - if anyone thinks this is a worthwhile endeavour I'll keep it up (plus it's wiki based so I'm hoping it won't just be me forever) otherwise I'll write the last week off and go back to MI2SE. :)
Monster Hunter Tri ssds by Sora3087 at 9:43 PM EDT on July 13, 2010
so yea i know that you have the srts and the ssds and you have to specify the entry from the srt when combining them but for the life of me i dont know the order and i tried using the alphabetical order but the play lengths get fucked up because its obviously coping the wrong headers to the wrong files

so does anyone have a relation list?
eg MH3BGM_LOBBY 0 ML_J_NI_SH
but that is the wrong id

h4m / HVQM4 audio by hcs at 2:47 AM EDT on July 21, 2010
Haven't seen any discussion on this for a while, someone asked me to have a look at a file from the Master Quest disc, which contained a .dol and .h4m video, with soundtrack. I've worked out how to play the audio, and I present h4m_audio_decode over here, which will decode to PCM wav.

Turns out to just be IMA after all, so I replaced the decoder with the more standard one from vgmstream, checked that they behave identically.
I'm somewhat unhappy with the sound quality, but this may be due to poor encoding.

Licenses on audio player libraries by mudlord at 8:04 PM EDT on July 25, 2010
So....

Game_Music_Emu: LGPL
Vorbis: BSD
FLAC: BSD
vgmstream: ICS
AAC/MP4/etc : GPL o.o
USF: No commercial use
viogsf/etc/ : BSD?
DUMB/module : BSD-style
MP3: LGPL
FluidSynth/BASSMIDI: Not GPL.
MilkDrop: BSD.

Just wondering if someone can help me fill the gaps. And if there is a MP4 decoder out there that doesn't use the GPL.

Main reason is....

After being banned off freenode and off the hydrogenaudio community, and XMPlay does not fit my needs, I need to program my *own* music player for my *own* purposes, and one that most importantly, fits my ethics. That is only for me, so I don't have to use future music players.

Thanks

Decoding DDR arcade .DAT file by SSGotenksUFO at 9:47 PM EDT on July 26, 2010
Hey there. I was wondering if someone could take a look at this file. I popped in the disc to an arcade DDR game (Dance Dance Revolution 4thMIX Plus) and was looking around for where the game's audio is stored.

I have a strong suspicion that each one of these files represents one of the songs in the game. There are exactly 150 songs in this version of DDR, and there are exactly 150 of these files around this size. The disc also has 150 smaller .DAT files, which I'm sure represent the 10 sec. samples played on the song select screen. There are also a few random .DAT files, which probably make up the menu music.

Please let me know what you can do with it. Thanks.

Educational Frustration by SmartOne at 12:21 AM EDT on July 28, 2010
Broderbund's Playworld (1993) is composed of three separate modules that were bought separately: Playroom, Backyard, Treehouse. I only had Playroom with the Backyard and Treehouse demo.

My dad threw away old floppy discs. All I have left is an install on a Windows 95 hard drive. Luckily the drive still works. Recovered the files. Fired up DOSBox, ran the software's SETUP program, attempted to run PLAYROOM.EXE.

A file is missing.

ABC.DAT

Nightmare. Why is only that one file missing? I've looked through every single box in this house to find the old discs. They are gone.

After much brooding, I finally got the clever idea to copy and rename an existing DAT to get the program to start, knowing that the ABC activity will never work:

Abandonware sites like to claim that the crappy, non-VGA 1989 version is the only Playroom that exists. The REAL version is from 1993. Proof:

One "ROM" does exist that got my hopes up:

Playworld (1993)(Broderbund).zip

After struggling with DOSBox's questionable floppy disc image swapping support (only ISO/CUE, no file system?) to get the INSTALL program to extract the files, it was only the Backyard/Treehouse demo. Great. Nice job getting a complete rip, "INTERNATIONAL NETWORK OF CRACKERS."

Now I get to hear what the SoundBlaster support is like. I was lucky if the PC Speaker worked back in the day.

A full version of Playworld does exist. It's just in a landfill somewhere:

Moral of the story: Don't throw stuff away.
I am fairly obsessive.

Cyberstorm 2 (ADPCM) - how to decode? by The Fifth Horseman at 4:32 PM EDT on July 30, 2010
Long story short, I've been trying to extract music and sound effects from the 1998 Sierra game "Cyberstorm 2". (note: I mean the BGM sequences which are not using audio tracks on the game disc)

First, the digitized sound files - along with other data - were stored in RBX container files. These can be extracted pretty easily -> http://realmofthehorseman.w.interia.pl/derbxer.rar contains an extractor (Windows binary together with C++ source).

After that, I ended up with a bunch of files - eventually finding out that the digitized sound is stored in the files using the .WAX extension.

Those appeared to have some form of headers. This utlity -> http://realmofthehorseman.w.interia.pl/waxscanner.rar (Windows binary and C++ source) reads the headers of any WAX files in the current directory and outputs them to a CSV file, converted to a human-readable format. A full output of all headers from the files is here -> http://realmofthehorseman.w.interia.pl/log.rar

The first dword value after the header appears to dictate the compression format - a value of 1 relates to uncompressed 8-bit PCM data, whereas a 4 means some kind of ADPCM implementation.

An associate of mine had the idea to try opening them as VOX files - this produced distorted but more or less legible output (the volume was off in more than a few places, though).

Digging through the main game executable, I found exact copies of the IMA ADPCM standard index and step tables. The nibble order appears to be top nibble, then bottom nibble (same as with VOX).

So far, I've been unable to create a decoder for this format; any help in the matter of decoding this format through other means would be appreciated.

I've uploaded several of the WAX files here for testing purposes: http://www.mediafire.com/?e0g2igc9443lv8j

using primeblue's recording method question by jurassicPieter at 4:44 PM EDT on August 9, 2010
Hey people,
has been some time I visited the forums. Lately I've been in recording games with the method primeblue used by patching the sound files.
I have succeeded with 3 games with a full sfx-free soundtrack for Super Mario Galaxy 1(170 tracks) and 2(200 tracks) and Animal Crossing: Let's Go The City (314 tracks) and provided links on ff shrine's forums.

ACFF was done with my BRSAR hacking because i figured out that all tracks not handled by ripping_mama are inside RSEQ and they are equivalent to SSAR files on the DS. Setting all data in the DATA chunk to FF (end of track) mutes most sound fx.

But for Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 I used gecko codes for the yoshi remixes and sequenced variations in SMG1 and zero-ing out all *.aw files except the *mahit*.aw was enough to get all tracks except for a few small ones, like the hungry luma themes.

My next challenge is Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, but this game is a hell to get all variations, since I could find about 7 to 9 variations a song and to make matters worse it's not perfectly arranged as Super Mario Galaxy is. I have now about 80 songs of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, but I fail at recording the blowhog and, rolling blowfish and the huge combo variations. Any help how to mute out a few sounds inside the .aw files? I know the exact files that contain sounds of the instruments, but it also has a few sound effects in it.
My findings so far
*mahit*.aw most soundbanks. b00_mahit.aw and 01_mahit.aw contain the general bg sounds, where the rest contains the melodies for individual songs.
b16_kawa.aw: half of grim volcano instruments
b17_kawa.aw: most of lava cavern instruments
b67_kawa.aw: the blowhog and rolling blowfish variations, but also mooshin's sound fx and the notes playing when dk walks or collects banana's
b73_kawa.aw: can't remember what this one contained
Need help ripping Twilight Princess music... by diablo at 5:26 AM EDT on August 11, 2010

Can someone explain me the procedures?
I'm not talking about.ast (I ripped them and converted them to mp3 but they were not the music I heard in-game or was looking for) but those waves .aw, do these contain music? I used a scrubber to extract all files from iso, but I just need help on how to do get a complete TP music rip. I've got all data needed so it's a matter of minutes I think.

Also, if there's a way to rip wind waker music (got the dumped iso) please explain to me too.
any chance of ever seeing an atari lynx format? by bucky at 5:14 PM EDT on August 11, 2010
I have a couple soundtracks I've been interested in sampling.

I take it there's probably not enough interest in ripping the ~100 or so games and making a dedicated format/ player for Atari Lynx music?

Unfortunately, I've tried using Handy and it has too many issues with 'hiccuping' the sound to be able to sample from it. At least on my computer...

vgmstream Frequency Problem by Trench at 5:01 PM EDT on August 23, 2010
I've been using in_cube for many years now, but today I decided to see if there was any updated software, so I ended up at vgmstream. I downloaded it and all of the external dlls and got it working in Winamp pretty easily. But there's a problem: it won't play the file I'm trying to play at the correct frequency. For some reason, vgmstream treats the file as 22050Hz, which it's clearly not (it's 24000Hz). And in_cube never had a problem with this. I've tried to change some settings through Winamp's menu, but all I can alter is loop count and thread processing priority.

Here's the file, if that helps. [9.7 MB]

Grease (Wii) ogg files??? (samples included) by placedo at 2:21 PM EDT on August 25, 2010
am trying to convert these to use with some audio software, but they don't appear to be any ogg file's i've ever seen before plus they don't have the relevent information such as the header being completely different & showing the "RIFX" header which is mainly for other codec's, no mention of Vorbis either...

i've uploaded some of the files here

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NXS4XG63

i've also included the directory for the soundbanks with the extension "bnk" as they look like they may contain information relevent to the stream ogg files, they are not "Bink" format so don't be fooled as it shares the same extension, although can understand "bnk" being used for "bank" too
So, about Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (N64) soundtrack. by TheUltimateKoopa at 2:49 PM EDT on August 25, 2010
Has anyone ever actually managed to successfully time these songs? The "Oblivion" music (the one that starts of with some timpanis, and consists of very slow droney notes of complete random chords (there's hardly any particular melody, it's just... really weird), you'll know what I mean), well anyway, I have no idea how freaking long it is, but put it this way, there's a part with a long string note that plays, then a gong sound just as the strings stop playing, then a couple of seconds of silence, then another gong sound, and some more tune. And that's only 45 freaking minutes into the tune. I even got to 90 minutes, and freaking heck, where is that gong piece again? Is this some freaking 3 hour long loop or something?

I'll try 5 hours to see if there's ANY sign of a loop after that. If moosehunter sees this, I can almost guarantee, this single song will take up probably well over 50% of all other existing BRSTMs on your site. I know it'll take a period of time measured in possibly hours to upload. If I even find a loop that is. Like I said at Smash World, it has to have a loop, because if it didn't then well ... that wouldn't make sense, since, if there wasn't a loop and it literally as infinite, then it... hasn't been finished. If it doesn't have a loop, it'd at least end suddenly, but if it didn't have a loop, but kept going for ever without looping, then the game would be "infinitely delayed" <_<.

The point in this topic, BTW, is basically to ask if anyone has had any luck finding a loop point for Oblivion (or any other Turok 2 songs)? I think I'm able to do most Boss themes (as they are only 1 - 2 minutes long), as well as the River of Souls, Primagen's Lightship and Port of Adia, and maybe a couple of others, but some of them I seriously cannot find where the loop starts (let along ends).

The "Yoshi's Story" theme isn't in it, as it is, however, there's what sounds like a half-completed Yoshi's Story theme. It has about 30 seconds of what I can't recognise, then parts of the Yoshi's Story theme, followed by the Super Mario Bros theme. Is this some unused/beta song?

vgmstream VS Winamp recognizability issue by Dubble at 11:43 AM EDT on September 6, 2010
I seem to be having a problem with vgmstream and I've no idea what it is I have done.

I was having an issue with Winamp and changed some settings here and there. One of things included trying to update the current vgmstream plugin for Winamp. This backfired horribly. Now, for whatever reason vgmstream, will not be recognized at all. ADX, BRSTM, pretty much anything that the plugin handles will not play and the time will only show up as 0:00 and no matter how much I try to reinstall it, nothing works.

Upon checking file types, none of the extensions are in the list and in_vgmstream.dll does not show up on the plugin list even though its in the plugins folder. I've reinstalled Winamp twice with no luck, tried different builds, nothing. I must be missing something somewhere, but I don't know what. Anyone else else experience this or can provide any help? I'd be very appreciative. Thanks.

New Encrypted FSB Format (Xbox360)? by placedo at 3:19 AM EDT on September 8, 2010
recently got a new game for the 360 & went to extract the audio files but before you can do any of that process, you have to decrypt them, i tried using guessfsb 0.3 on all of them but no success so not sure if they are using a different kind of scheme for the keys, but there still FSB4 files as the sfx in the game are not decrypted & the header was the same as any other multichannel FSB4 files so assume these are too.

here's a link to the fsb4 files in the game.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=STCFX86N

is there any chance of an update to guessfsb to get these decrypted or is it quite complicated?

thanks again to everyone here for their help.

Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana rip by Trench at 7:03 PM EDT on September 15, 2010
Hi, I did a search for "Atelier" here, but the 14 posts I got didn't have what I'm looking for. I'd love a rip of the music from Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana. I tried looking for the streams on the disc, but it seems the only streams are movies, so the rest of the music must be sequenced, like PSF2 or something. Has this game's music been ripped, and if so, is there a place I can find a copy of the rip?

So, after searching (not very well <_<), I'd like to ask, is there a rip of this game anywhere? The Wii version, specifically?

EDIT: I'm just gonna download the ISO because I'm too lazy to wait to see if it's already available <_<.

Megaman vocal tracks by Mouser X at 2:59 PM EDT on September 23, 2010
I've had various Megaman songs stuck in my head recently, which lead to a question. What Megaman games had songs with lyrics (and sung) in them, and what were those songs? I'll list off the ones I know of, but I'm fairly certain I'm missing some. So, if anyone here can add to this list to make it more complete, I'd appreciate it. And, in case this question cannot adequately be answered here, could anyone direct me to a better place to ask such a question?

Games I know of:

Megaman X4 - 1 vocal track (more?)
Megaman X5 - 1 vocal track (more?)
Megaman X6 - 1 vocal track (more?)
Megaman X: Command Mission - 1 vocal track (more?)
Megaman Zero (I don't remember which of the 4) - 1 I can remember (it's on the ReMastered OST or something like that)
Megaman ZX (or is it Advent?) - 1 track (*.AHX, IIRC, in the ROM)
Megaman DASH 1 - 2 vocal tracks (that's right, isn't it?)
Megaman DASH 2 - 2 vocal tracks (that's right, isn't it?)
The Misadventures of Tronn Bonne - 1, or is it 2?

What about Megaman Battle and Chase (PSX racing game)? Does it have a vocal track? What about the Megaman arcade games? I recall that the OST, at least, had vocal tracks, but I don't know about the game itself. However, I can't find my copy of said OST, so I'm not completely sure that it does, or does not, have a (or many) vocal tracks (clarification on this would be appreciated).

Is there any I missed? Those are the ones I can think of right now. Anyway, I appreciate any help anyone is willing to provide on this. Mouser X over.

Ripping Sound Samples from Star Fox 64 by Jedi QuestMaster at 5:07 PM EDT on September 24, 2010

Brstm Creater by furrybob at 6:48 PM EDT on September 24, 2010
I was wondering how difficult it would be to make a program that encoded brstms. I know you can currently use revb to create brstms from dsp files, but that requires using tools from the Wii SDK to encode the ADPCM. It would be great if we could have an open-source, standalone, possibly cross-platform encoder that handles everything from the beginning .wav file to the final .brstm file.

An SSBB modder has already coded a brstm encoder:
http://code.google.com/p/brawldev/source/browse/trunk/#trunk/BrawlLib/Wii/Audio
However, it's part of a larger program that requires a GUI to be run. C# is also not a language that I normally work with, so I wouldn't really know where to start.

How easy/hard/plausible would it be to make a standalone brstm encoder?
MGS4 SDPack.Dat BWAV by pepper at 3:47 PM EDT on September 27, 2010
This format is really screwing with my head, alot of it is mostly a format i can't decode, but a small percentage is just plain raw headerless wav data, as listening to the dat file as raw audio gives long bursts of static, then on occasion what seems to be bullet shells falling, perfectly clear at 48khz.

I'll upload a cut. seems to have a clear structure, i'm just not good with figuring out decompression, I'm guessing it's some type of adpcm or otherwise compressed audio.

can upload more if nessecary.

Sands of Destruction by Rainierman at 9:06 PM EDT on September 28, 2010
Hello everyone. I recently discovered by accident this and many other game riping sites and I'm surprised searches hadn't given me any results until now.

So I have a couple of game rips I'd like, but above them there's Sands of Destruction for the DS. That's a game that has music from Yasunori Mitsuda (same guy that did both Chrono's). So instead of bothering someone else for it, I try to learn and do it myself. Thing is... well I think there's might be some advance stuff behind this one, because none of the methods that vgmtoolbox has work for me (and they did with older games, so I think I'm doing it right).

Well I really want to have this soundtrack as lossless as possible (the youtube rips of it aren't even complete), so the question is: can someone please push me in the right direction to figure out this one? I'm willing to do all the hardwork that it could possible involve, but I could use some help being told what that hardwork is, lol.

Well, thanks in advance for any guidance. I'll be waiting for an answer.
Help with unpacking BRSAR by neo_chip at 12:08 AM EDT on September 29, 2010
Hi I'm trying to personally extract some brsar's from WiiPlay. I'm using VGM Toolbox under advance cutter as I read from the forums here.
I select all the available Wii presets [rwav, rseq etc. and even riff] and nothing unfortunately happens.

I've placed my output folder properly and drag the .brsar file on to the input but it never extracts.

Am I missing a plugin? Any help would be great...

DPS files not playing infinitely by Mirby at 1:40 AM EDT on October 2, 2010
Hi! I got the DPS rip of Mega Man Network transmission (from emuparadise) and the files don't play infinitely. I have r859 of vgmstream, so I don't know why they won't.

Is it because I removed half the files of the rip (only kept the _l files and deleted the _r files for space)? Could that be it?

Question about Mega Man Network Transmission DSP files by Trench at 6:29 PM EDT on October 3, 2010
I extracted these from an ISO today, and whether I play them with in_cube or in_vgmstream, the plugin reports that the files do not loop. I haven't played the game, but I can tell the songs loop considering the playback for all the files ends in the middle of the song. It would be really nice if the loops could be set up for these files. Is doing so a big deal, or is it fairly easy?

Def Jam Rapstar - Audio Format (Sample Inside) by placedo at 12:22 PM EDT on October 6, 2010
I've been looking at one of the dlc file's for the newly released game Def Jam Rapstar on the X360, & it's one archive with files embedded in it.

From what i can see, at the very end of the file it list's the contents, although i'm only interested in obtaining the audio which seem to have the extension "tra" so presumably one of their known format's with a different extension name.

In the file i've posted here the following is in the archive for example (judging from the end of the file itself)

art\ui\albumart\dlc_diddy_badboy.tex
art\ui\songselect_images\dlc_diddy_badboy.tex
data\midi\dlc_diddy_badboy_duet.mid
data\midi\dlc_diddy_badboy_duet.txt
data\midi\dlc_diddy_badboy_solo.lyr
data\midi\dlc_diddy_badboy_solo.mid
data\midi\dlc_diddy_badboy_solo.txt
data\raw\dlc_diddy_badboy.tra
data\raw\dlc_diddy_badboy_inst.tra
data\reftracks\dlc_diddy_badboy_duet.ref
data\reftracks\dlc_diddy_badboy_solo.ref
video\dlc_diddy_badboy.txv video\dlc_diddy_badboy_clip.txv

I looked into what Terminal Reality have done before & they did the Ghostbusters game so compared the audio files & "44 AC 00 00" seems to appear in both as does the "06 00 00 00" too but i don't know the exact format or where the files begin & end so if anyone know's what there doing would be kind enough to look into this, that would be great...

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=70KC4N1K

I also noticed (although am not interested) that the video format is Theora which is made with "ffmpeg2theora" although seem's to be missing all the "oggs" section's for some reason?

Strange issue when extracting audio from XBOX360 Guitar Hero games by mrhappy at 6:47 AM EDT on October 10, 2010
Hi everyone,

I've been using xendecrypt, fsbext, and the xma_parser to extract audio from some of the Guitar Hero games and I've run into a strange issue I can't identify.

Most songs extract and convert perfectly but occasionally, some of the extract channels are cut-off on the end (so far I've run into this on GH:VH and GH:SH). When it does happen it seems to always happen when I extract "channel 4" at offset 1800 (the final track in the file) from the from the first file in the set, and sometimes to others in the same song. It can vary between 1 and 4 channels that are cropped within the affected songs, and no two cut-off in the same spot.

So my question is- does anyone have any idea what's going on and what I can do to fix it? I've tried messing with every setting I can think of in xma_parser (and the other programs) to change it. Different offsets, block sizes, etc and nothing works. Here's one of the affected files if someone wants to take a look (Ain't Talking 'Bout Love by VH):

http://www.mediafire.com/?yv4s3jb7p18774v

The command I use to get the cropped track from the above file is: xma_parse m1 -o 1800 -b 10000 -r t4

Thank you so much for any and all help.

The Toph Haters by Vagonto at 4:58 AM EDT on October 19, 2010
I'm a Toph hater and proud of it. To people who can't stand us Toph haters: Screw you and suck it up!

We haters have a right to hate that gal and express our hatred of her.

The reason why I hate Toph that much is because of her bitchy attitude. Those who love it have shit for brains.

I like Katara better because she's more mature and sensible. Toph's just a hypocritical and spoiled brat who doesn't seem to know how to behave.

If you Toph fans type shit to me, THEN FUCK OFF AND EAT A DICK!!! I have the right to type whatever the hell I want about that character.

So, if your a Toph hater, like myself, feel free to join the party. xD
Requesting help with figuring out XMA/XWB files by Dais! at 10:37 PM EDT on October 20, 2010
so.

I have this 750mb Stream.XWB file (there doesn't seem to be a corresponding XSB) taken from Operation Darkness. It seems to contain all the game's streamed music, sound effects and voice acting. However, actually extracting that has been a bit troublesome:

-Game Extractor doesn't seem to support XWB yet

-EkszBox-ADX 1.6 recognizes there are XMA files in there, but seems to have no clue what file size they should be and, when I attempt to extract what evidence indicates are roughly 2,200 files, it instead extracts tens of thousands of 1kb XMA files, which really isn't helpful at all.

-unxwb dumps those 2200 files as .dat files which I frankly don't know what to do with (I assume these are renamed XMAs, but I have a handful of programs I can throw them against with no luck and lots of different instructions on how to do this). It seems to have built in attempted wave conversion but it doesn't produce playable results.

-I honestly have no idea how I'm supposed to use the XMA tool in VGMToolbox r687, although I have the necessary applications for XMA extraction. I tried throwing both the XWB file and the .dat files unxwb dumped, but if I got results, they didn't manifest anywhere I looked in any form I recognized.

-Finally, towav (the extra forbidden fruit?) seems to have given me the results I wanted - generally speaking. There's still some big questions...

1. Why do I get less wave files than when I used unxwb to dump the XWB?

2. Is there a way to make towav name files based on their hex address or whatever? Along the same lines, is it possible the XWB file contains file names for the XMA files, or is that only if there's an accompanying XSB?

3. If a towav rip seems to be playing the files correctly, can it be considered as accurate as it's going to get from towav? Or are there hidden command line settings?

Specifically, consider this file extracted via towav:
Mediafire
Rapidshare
~120mb

That's some of the combat music in the game, and while it sounds fine, it seems to loop around 5-6 times before fading out. Is that due to the original XMA file containing all those loops?

man, I know I'm missing some other stuff here, but I'd appreciate any direction.

(and just triple checking, but there's no way to play XMA files in VGMstream and the like yet, correct?)

In need of help with VGM rip from PSP. by Operandi at 3:27 PM EDT on October 28, 2010
Greetings.

I've been attempting to rip all of the music from the PSP game God Eater, though i've run into some trouble. Fortunately I stumbled on this forum...

I did a lot of searching and learned about AT3 files, and read that some of them can be disguised as .wav? I extracted a large amount of .wav files using AllMediaGrabber, and since none of them play in Winamp or any other player I'm under the assumption that they have the files I'm in need of.

Pardon the skimpy description, but I've been busy getting into ripping music from PS2 games as well, which fortunately has been more successful. Anyway, there was one open .AT3 in the root of the ISO, but I've had no luck getting a hold of any others. My main question is: are there any other methods that the music files could be stored in the .iso, and if so what is the best way/program to extract them, at least to a format that can easily be converted?

Thanks.

Mario Strikers Charged IDSPs by furrybob at 12:21 AM EDT on November 2, 2010
I'm trying to play the Mario Strikers Charged files in vgmstream, but they aren't playing properly. The IDSPs are just crammed into a single .nlxwb file, one right after the other without any compression or structure. The extracted IDSPs seem to play fine in Winamp until you get near the end, then the file doesn't play properly. It might degrade into static, or drop one of the channels, among other possibilities.

Help with unpacking .msm files! by neo_chip at 7:29 PM EDT on November 4, 2010
I'm trying to get all of DDR Mario Mix bgm songs. Unfortunately the disc only contains two folders which contain music

1 = MRODDR_Snd.msm
2 = MRODDR_Str.pdt

I dumped the pdt file thanks to manakoAT program and was able to get everything else "except" the dance songs which leaves me thinking that they are contained in this "msm" file. Does anyone know how to unpack this?

I'd really appreciate the help, I'd love to get this rip in lossless quality :)
