Atari Jaguar music ripping? How? by Droolie at 3:17 AM EDT on August 2, 2008
Hey there!

I can't find this anywhere, and I thought you guys might know. So, do you know how to rip music from Atari Jaguar games? I'd especially like to rip the music from Rayman 1, the Jaguar version. I don't expect any of you to know this, though.

Thanks in advance,
Droolie. ;)

To the best of my knowledge (though feel free to correct me), there is no format similar to NSF, etc. for Jaguar. At the moment, your only option is to make line-in recordings from the game yourself. Maybe if there's enough demand, someone will create JSF or something. Sorry to be the one to break it to you.

I think a lot of Jaguar titles used MOD tracker formats. Someone ripped the Tempest 2000 mods out of that game. Might be worth using any MOD ripping tools on Jaguar ROMs to see what turns up (although I think the best ripping tools are Amiga-only).

Can you give me the names of any MOD ripping tools?
I can't seem to find any... must be because I'm extremely tired. :(

You can start with this tool:

You know, it's funny, Tempest 2000 really has uncompressed Protracker mods.
Did check Zool 2 as well, and it uses Protracker as well (RNC compressed, but there are decompressors for that).

But that's probably just a lucky find, tried Flashback and Iron Soldier, no dice there.

You can get Zool 2's modules at exotica. Good soundtrack, presuming the Atari music is the same as Amiga.

Sadly, Prowizard wasn't able to get any mods from Rayman for Jaguar. :|

Yeah i loved good ol' zool 1 and 2 music :P Brings back memories . Superfrog had not bad music either, but that was for AMIGA :D

Mod music was cool and still IS cool to listen to ^_^

Completely true. :)

So, does anybody have any other ideas?

You can try the usual ripping tools: WinRipper, Dragon Unpacker, GAP (Game Audio Player).
by Droolie at 4:31 AM EDT on August 13, 2008
Sadly, none of them worked on the Jaguar version of Rayman. :(

Try GameExtractor. It Should Work.
by Droolie at 3:19 PM EDT on September 4, 2008
Game Extractor by Watto studios, you mean?
Sadly, I only have the basic version ( not the full one that can scan files ), and that one doesn't work :(
by wolupgm6 at 4:34 AM EDT on September 5, 2008
Hmm... Then I Shall Find $20 And Buy The Full One! Or Just Find It Illegally On Some Message Board... Then I May Be Able To Help

I got the full version of Game Extractor 1.5506 ( from 2006 ) now ( illegally ), and I scanned the file, but it didn't show anything. Did you test if Game Extractor works on jaguar games, wolupgm6?
by marcusss at 9:17 PM EDT on September 5, 2008
Thanks for that.. That link works ;) Will scan it and try it out when I get home ^_^

Hmm... the jaguar version of rayman seems to be different to most other jaguar games...

How so? What's different? Help me learn a little more about the Jag please.
by wolupgm6 at 4:54 AM EDT on September 12, 2008
Well GameExtractor Usually Shows Up With A Bunch Of Files For The Jaguar Games, But For Some Reason, Rayman Returns No Files. Maybe UBISoft Used Some Sort Of Encryption? Although, Considering The Time It Was Released, It Is Highly Unlikely.
Hey! Look at this! by Droolie at 11:34 AM EDT on October 2, 2008
Hey guys!
Look what I found: The Jaguar Source Code Collection includes the Rayman Music files!
Which means... that anyone who has the Source Code Collection has the music I need.
Does anybody here have this/know somebody who has it?
by wolupgm6 at 5:27 AM EDT on October 10, 2008
Nope, but I'll try to help.
