You should thank the guy who ripped and hosts it ;o)
by Mouser X at 7:39 PM EST on December 6, 2008
That would be me for Sonic Heroes and PSO III. Well, originally at least... It's possible someone re-ripped them and re-uploaded them to HCS's site. I would have ripped PSO I&II, but someone beat me to it (I forget who, but I have notes about it somewhere. Their name started with a "B").

And of course, thanks HCS! We all appreciate you hosting stuff! Mouser X over and out.
manako by -FDM64- at 10:38 PM EST on December 6, 2008
HCS still pays to host that other server?
by Mouser X at 2:50 PM EST on December 7, 2008
No he doesn't. However, he did pay the bill on it a month or 2 before he switched servers. As such, it's still active, because it's been paid for in advance for a few months. This of course won't last forever... Mouser X over and out.
Mushroom Men: Rise of the Fungi by refaans at 3:32 PM EST on December 7, 2008
I dislike the game, but the soundtrack is Awesome. Has someone already ripped music from it?

This is my first post, if I had done something wrong, sorry. :(
by Omochao at 5:26 PM EST on December 7, 2008
I have .MP3s I have ripped from .2SFs
by bxaimc at 10:06 PM EST on December 7, 2008
yea.....I'd rather have 2SFs because of their looping feature. But, I could just convert to Mp3, split the file to where I have an intro file and a loop file so that i can just put repeat on the loop file on my iPod and be happy on my way to school and then to class. :)
by Omochao at 11:51 PM EST on December 7, 2008
Rise of the Fungi .2SF:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/gvfn7rO
by Mouser X at 12:30 AM EST on December 8, 2008
bxaimc: Or you could convert the 2SF to an ADX and play it in Rockbox. This way, no file splitting is necessary, as Rockbox plays ADX and of course supports looping of said ADX. After all, if you're able to find the loop point/intro/whatnot of the 2SF, then it'd be almost as easy to use that information, and create a looping ADX.

Of course, the biggest problem with this is that Rockbox may not run on your iPod/portable Player. As for me though, I tend to listen to ADXs far more than I do MP3s/other formats these days... I *really* like the fact that I can use VGMstream to convert various audio formats to ADX (and thus preserve looping info) for use in Rockbox. On the other hand though, if I could get LOGGs to work in Rockbox, it would decrease the size of my music by about 75%, or something (I had a closer number, but I forgot what it was). Since the ADXs take up at least 20 GB on my Gigabeat, that means that if I converted them to LOGGs, it'd free up 15 GB. That would be Nice!

Anyway, sorry to be somewhat off-topic.

Back on topic, Omochao: 2SFs should be mentioned in the 2SF thread, not in the Streamed Audio thread. Unless, perhaps, Rise of the Fungi is streamed (I didn't check your link). Just pointing that out. Mouser X over and out.
by Omochao at 12:39 AM EST on December 8, 2008
I put them here because bxaimc requested them here.

I did a quick search and didn't see any links to the BRSARs from AC:CF, so woppum (The one and only BRSTM is included for completeness' sake)

The BRSAR unpack tool on the in_cube page really doesn't like these.
by Omochao at 8:16 PM EST on December 14, 2008
That tool doesn't really like ANYTHING.
by SmartOne at 3:58 PM EST on December 15, 2008
I have the ADXs from Toy Story 2 (Dreamcast) in case anyone is interested. Sample rate of 44100 Hz instead of the weird Playstation CD-XA 37800 Hz soundtrack.
by Mouser X at 4:31 AM EST on December 21, 2008
On IRC, HCS mentioned putting together all of the currently available streamed sets onto a 500 GB harddrive, and shipping it to those who would be interested in receiving a copy. However, HDDs aren't free, so if he were to do this, the idea would be that people would help pitch in to purchase the supplies needed (shipping would be a sort of "pay it forward" by paying to ship it to the next guy). The idea here is to buy one HDD, and ship that to multiple locations in the USA (keeps costs down). Here's some links to possible HDD candidates:

http://shop4.frys.com/product/5734812
This one is $80, and is made to be used as an external drive. This might be easier for some people to use (no hooking up an internal drive), and possibly more robust (useful if it's being shipped around)

http://3btech.net/exhadrkitinu2.html
This one is a little less than $70, and is still external.

http://3btech.net/whlamadate50.html
This one is $45, but is an internal drive. This is the cheapest method (which I prefer), and as long as the drive is properly packaged, it should be fine to ship it. However, depending on your setup, an external drive may be preferred.

Something else to keep in mind is that the more hands this passes through, the more likely the drive is to be lost or damaged. Therefore, if you contribute, it's possible that it might end up being $10 down the tubes. The other idea is that everyone involved pays the full price, and are refunded as the drive makes its way down the line. This is not necessarily recommended, but it is a possible idea. To quote HCS:

"something cute would be to have everyone pay up for the full price of the drive, and then refund people as the drive gets passed along to the next person. would protect against someone keeping it, or packing carelessly. but it would place the trust on the receiver (who could claim he never got it)."

We could get insurance, but this would raise the cost as well. And of course package tracking, as that would be helpful. I think though, that ideally we should shoot for a smallish number of people cut costs down, and minimize the risk of loss or damage.

Anyway, I'm rather interested in this idea. Is there anyone else who would be willing to chip in some money to get a full collection of the streamed sets currently out there? I know I'm in. Mouser X out.

Assuming all things go as planned, I think I could put 20$ toward the drive and up to 30$ on shipping it.

Does anyone know where I can find an ADX rip of the 360/PS3 version of Sonic Unleashed? I found an ADX rip of the Wii version, but there are a few tracks that are exclusive to the 360/PS3 version. Thanks.

Sonic Unleashed (X360) is CSB+CPK
possibly PS3 is the same.
currently, it's not supported
by marioman at 4:23 PM EST on December 24, 2008
Oh, OK. Since the Wii and PS2 versions used ADX, I figured that the other ones would too. Thanks for the info.
by bxaimc at 6:25 PM EST on December 24, 2008
Well, technically, it's some sort of container for ADX files, like AIX for example and it's still a CRI product so, you weren't far off
by bxaimc at 5:07 PM EST on December 27, 2008
anyone know how to decrypt or make a decryptor for BMDX files from newer beatmania games such as beatmaniaIIDX14GOLD (PS2) or beatmaniaIIDX15DJTROOPERS (PS2)?

Nifty. I realize that I never included a license, but could you please be so kind as to include your modified source?
by SH&E at 5:23 AM EST on January 1, 2009
I didn't create it, someone else did, they gave it to me xD.
I ain't been doing no modifications 8-).
A guy named (or a gal not sure xD)... hang on... called kitt050383 gave it to me at GBATemp forums =P.

It might've been named something different, I'm not sure. But I've seen something similar in a few torrents :/.

I guess you could ask him/her whether he would be so kind to give you the source :)... It could be a completely different program from the ground up :/. I dunno ^_^.

Within the next week or so I will be ripping Wii and GC games so be on the look out.
by hcs at 9:13 AM EST on January 3, 2009
As it was mentioned not too long ago, I thought some people might like to know that I have cpk and csb unpackers on the ol' in_cube page (the utf_tab entry), they work nicely on the Sonic Unleashed 360 files. And vgmstream r550 supports the .aax files that are produced.
by SH&E at 9:54 AM EST on January 3, 2009
Wow! There's an r550? How come releases like that aren't shown on the sourcefourge page? =P
by hcs at 9:58 AM EST on January 3, 2009
Putting stuff up on sourceforge is a pain, so I don't do it too often.
by SH&E at 10:00 AM EST on January 3, 2009
Ah, I see :).
Couldn't you just like... make a page with all the releases on it sometime?
Just a simple list here on your site? (Excuse me if there already is one and I just haven't found it...)
If you have the time of course :).

Does anyone have a stream of Star Fox Adventures? I've looked around but couldn't find anything :/
by Only3Penguins at 4:41 PM EST on January 3, 2009
SF Adventures's music is all sequenced unfortunately and therefore inaccessible until someone devises a way to play sequenced GC music. And that doesn't seem to be happening any time soon.

Though several posts down from here SH&E seems to be making some sort of effort with sequenced Wii music. So it's not like no one's trying to figure sequences out.

"SH&E *seems* to be making some sort of effort" xD
Yeah :).
I guess I could check whether the Wii's is similar to that of Starfox Adventures.. Although I need to find an ISO somewhere =P. Or does anyone have a file from it they could send me? If not, oh well :).
by hcs at 6:30 PM EST on January 3, 2009
SH&E, pretty much every interesting version is in the files directory.
Note that I still consider vgmstream under heavy development, so I'm just providing it to some people for testing. Even with the few releases up on sourceforge, I still don't consider it as having had a proper release yet.
And though I may regret this, Sonic Unleashed Xbox 360 AAXs.

Many thanks to manakoAT for managing the dats, and ripping quite a few of these. And of course thanks to all the other rippers as well.
Just a whiny little note, there are rips of NiGHTS - Journey of Dreams and Baroque as well, which somehow did not make this torrent. Not to mention Okami, mostly because it has exactly the same files as the PS2 version.

Wow, hopefully this will be up for awhile. Why don't your torrents allow DHT?
by Mouser X at 10:31 PM EST on January 17, 2009
My guess is that manakoAT has his torrent client set to exclude DHT because he usually creates torrents for a private tracker. When he created this torrent, he most likely forgot to enable the option. Maybe this will be fixed? Since it's on a public tracker, I can see how it would be useful. Mouser X over and out.

Why is Metal Slug 4 (2004)(SNK Playmore)[XBOX][WAVE] so crappy? The recordings for 3, 5, and 6 are nice clear stereo with decent mastering. Metal Slug 4 sounds like the sound guy didn't know what the hell he was doing. 48 KHz mono WAVs? They sound much worse than Metal Slug 5's 44.1 KHz stereo WAVs.

So why is Metal Slug 4's streamed music so sucky?

Odin Sphere (2007)(Atlus)[PS2][ADX]
OS_MO44.adx is only 2.69 KB and doesn't play.

Only one of the Sonic Mega Collection ADXs work...

All the Sonic Mega Collection ADXs work for me. And that Odin Sphere tracks plays for me, it just happens to play 0.05 seconds of silence.
by SmartOne at 9:43 PM EST on January 18, 2009
That's odd, because they definitely don't play here. I'm using vgmstream r562 in XMPlay...

I think there was a time when they did work. Not sure though. Only music24a.adx likes to play now. They are a fresh download from last night.

Ah, posting as you did after the stream dats I assumed you had a set that matches with those. As bxaimc said you have to fix the old set that was ripped with an extra header; in_cube used to support that but vgmstream dropped it.

In case anyone was wondering, the PC version of Sonic Heroes has bgm that's exactly identical to the GC version.

@bxaimc: For the record, I believe that Mouser said that the ADX files in the XBOX version of Sonic Heroes are higher quality than the GC/PC ones.

@admiralpete: Thanks for the upload of the Rockman Power Battle Fighters ADX files. They sound great.
by Mouser X at 6:42 PM EST on January 19, 2009
I've never seen an Xbox ISO in my life. However, someone else (on these forums, but I don't remember who) said that the Xbox version was higher quality. I have no proof either way, so I've always reiterated what I heard by saying "I heard that the Xbox has higher quality files. I haven't checked myself to find out." Just clarifying. Mouser X over and out.
by bxaimc at 6:51 PM EST on January 22, 2009
@marioman: of course the Xbox/PS2 version of Sonic Heroes are higher Quality (48khz). I just had the game around and decided to take a look at though it didn't seem worthy enough to rip since it's entirely the same as the GC version.

Can you be sure that a higher sample rate is always higher quality? I know that Animusic's DVDs ( www.animusic.com ) have standard AC3 audio at 48 kHz, but the CD soundtrack insert states that 44.1 kHz is the original sample rate for the audio, and it was merely upconverted for the DVD format. Of course, I'd hope audio engineers would keep their projects at studio rates for as long as possible, but maybe some don't...?

I think I've figured out some sort of explanation for the crappy Xbox Metal Slug 4 streams by listening with M1. The original Neo Geo Metal Slugs games' music was almost 100% from samples, using the YM2610's DAC capabilities. Metal Slug 1, 2, X, and 3 have nice stereo sound, despite of this. Metal Slug 4 and 5 started using higher quality samples, and because of this those games couldn't have stereo sound...?

So the Xbox streams of Metal Slug 4 were directly recorded from a Neo Geo, or at least encoded from the sound engineer's sources without any stereo enhancement because they were lazy.

The Xbox streams of Metal Slug 5 are high quality stereo. Definitely not recorded from a Neo Geo because the samples are studio quality. For some reason the sound guy felt a bit more ambitious with this release?

Are the Metal Slug 4 streams from Metal Slug Anthology (PS2) in stereo? If so, could someone look into ripping them? Maybe rip all the streams from that disc, while you're at it. ;)

Actually the other way around.
MS1-3 is sequenced (using samples, like MOD files), while MS4 and MS5 are pure streams (which needed to be downsampled to mono 11kHz IIRC to fit the ROM space)
by SmartOne at 6:16 PM EST on January 25, 2009
Other way around? That's almost exactly what I meant. I just wasn't sure 4 and 5 were pure streams, and ew, 11kHz mono? Why do the sound engineers make such stupid decisions...
by Knurek at 6:21 PM EST on January 25, 2009
How using 11 kHz mono stream can mean "Metal Slug 4 and 5 started using higher quality samples" is beyond me. :)

And I'm pretty sure they'd use better quality if they weren't forced to fit 30+ minutes of music into 16 MB.
by SmartOne at 11:22 PM EST on January 25, 2009
They could've gone the Metal Slug 1, 2, X, and 3 route.

64zelda_gc.ast is the menu music of the US version of Zelda Collector's Edition.

Zelda Collection JP.ast is the music that was used for the Japanese version.

I was searching for the latter, thank you! Now if only I could get a hold of Ocarina of Time: Master Quest for Gamecube, which had an awesome ALttP style ending in place of the loop in the US Collector's Edition.

manako, what do you have to offer?
(sorry for sounding like an ass, but I'm trying to get the most of it, eg bartering)

Any sets that you have and haven't uploaded?
Perhaps you might know where I could find the VGM ripped from Mario Kart Wii?
by fridgey at 11:25 PM EST on February 2, 2009
Given he's one of the primary seeds on the pirate bay torrent I somehow doubt he's sitting on a bunch of stuff...

And I'd note that it looks like the mario kart music is included in that torrent, scroll back a few pages.

If you're talking about Wii, there's a few sets that are ripped but not in that torrent. Those that I know of are:
428 - Fuusa Sareta Shibuya de
Baroque
Crash - Mind Over Mutant
Nights - Journey of Dreams
oh and de Blob

A few of these were simply oversights, the rest mana didn't have at the time of the torrent.
I'm uploading them now, will link when done. Also the torrent should have a lot of seeds soon, lots of folks at 90% or so.

If you're asking about "any sets" in general, then yeah there's hundreds of GB that aren't distributed just now. See Mouser's hard drive proposal earlier in this thread.

@-FDM64-: Here are also 2 RWAR files that are the title sequence for MKW and the Final Lap jingle. You will need at least VGMStream r562ish, to be able to play these two.

what would you prefer to have:

1:
all brstm files straight from the rom
brsars decrypted into individual folders

2:
all brstm files straight from the rom
brsars left as they are from the disc

3:
exact copy of the sound directory on the rom

let me know and I'll zip/upload
by hcs at 5:23 PM EST on February 3, 2009
Preferably the brsar intact, on the chance that it has music within (as with Mario Kart Wii). The whole sound directory is probably overkill.
