Thank you, I'll give it a spin.
One other question - what about the WII version of DJ Hero? Looks to be an mp3 variant (LAME 3.98 signatures all around), but VGMStream doesn't seem to handle it correctly.
by bxaimc at 12:20 PM EDT on October 20, 2010
that's because it contains 3 interleaved streams and vgmstream doesn't support that.....yet
by Hotcakes at 8:06 PM EDT on October 21, 2010
Regarding the LittleBigPlanet rip, is Get It Together in there? It seems like everything I've heard is... everything else :/
by Dais! at 12:21 AM EDT on October 24, 2010
I finally got around to checking out the files in Mr Driller: Drill Land (GC). As previously noted (a long time ago), they are in DSP format, but I ran into two things that caught my attention:

1. Some DSP files will not play in VGMstream despite playing when using Winamp+in_cube. Specifically, in_cube38 (most recent version?) will play all the files, but VGMstream r829/870/871 won't. I went and checked VGMstream r128, and it won't play the DSP files in question either.

I'd run more tests, but I have no idea what the significant milestones are for vgmstream (or in_cube). All I can do is provide these sample songs:

Work under VGMstream
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/1/1401201/KOUSOKU.dsp
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/1/1401201/druaga_game.dsp
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/1/1401201/star_intro.dsp

Don't work under VGMstream
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/1/1401201/EGIPT.dsp
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/1/1401201/druaga_boss.dsp
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/1/1401201/world_game.dsp

(as noted on the in_cube notes database from way back, the DSP files won't loop correctly with in_cube, but the ones that work with VGMstream do loop! A few tracks seem to get a bit rough when the music is intensive, but that might just be my system?)

2. The game disc seems to include MIDI files. I'm not sure how equipped my system is to actually figure out anything about MIDI right now, but here's the folder and some other sound-related stuff if anyone is interested:

http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/1/1401201/drillmidi.zip

figuring out this set isn't exactly a big priority, since there's a fairly decent fan recording of the sound test out there, but it'd be nice to get it working.
by furrybob at 7:06 PM EDT on October 24, 2010
None of the DSP files from Sonic R work properly with vgmstream. They work better with in_cube, but they still keep skipping backwards and the channels aren't synced. Test.exe won't even open one, and dspadpcm outputs the same audio as vgmstream does.
Does anybody know what the problem is with playing these files?

Here's a sample file:

Knurek, I've entered "scd" into XMPlay's priority list for vgmstream, but Final Fantasy XIII still doesn't loop. How did you get it to work?

Does anyone know if Goldeneye 007 is streamed or sequenced, and also, has anyone got a rip of the game, or is this one of those games that hasn't been leaked before release? (Although it's only like 2 days away).

@SmartOne: I don't know how to help you, I didn't do anything other than typing the SCD extension into plugin's exception window.

@TheUltimateKoopa

Goldeneye 007 is by eurocome and most likely uses there .000 MUSX archive, hcs has sent me an extractor when i needed help with dead space extraction but i have lost it.
by SmartOne at 12:33 AM EDT on November 1, 2010
When looping is enabled, the track durations increase, correct? (One loop would roughly double most?) Doesn't happen here.
Koudelka by lordskylark at 12:17 AM EDT on November 3, 2010
I don't have the game, so I cannot check. But does anyone know what format the music is from "Koudelka" for PSX?
by manakoAT at 8:12 AM EDT on November 3, 2010
Custom "Procyon" Driver
by bxaimc at 10:10 AM EDT on November 3, 2010
Goldeneye has MUSX like Dead Space but it's a new variant. Haven't checked if they used the same Eurocom ADPCM or maybe a new updated version. It all depends on that. I'll try to add support for this into vgmstream if it's something new/different. I should have the rip up on the tracker later today after I finish sorting it.

Um... Tetris Party Deluxe? IIRC Wario Ware Smooth Moves was sequenced?

WooHoo @ Sonic Colors! I have the game on pre-order (though, I can't afford it, so I'll be taking it right back. Probably the same day, at a different store. I really wanted the hat it comes with), and I've heard impressive things about it. With the very brief videos I've seen, the music has sounded pretty interesting. Thanks for uploading it! I'm looking forward to listening to it. I know it's been said before, but bxaimc, you're awesome! (and, uh, also thanks for the Miku Hatsune stuff) Mouser X over and out.

by TheUltimateKoopa at 10:01 PM EST on November 10, 2010
OK allow me to explain.

I downloaded (or attempted to download) the "Pikmin 2" rip from the tracker. It says there are 2 peers, and 0 seeds (obviously I'm one of the peers). And my download isn't just 0 kb/sec, it doesn't even start at all. There is literally nothing. I could leave it for 4 hours, and in that time, a massive 0 bytes will have been downloaded. It doesn't matter now because I got what I wanted.
by pepper at 9:55 PM EST on November 11, 2010
the two peers might also have nothing then, or just not sharing it
by bcass at 12:08 AM EST on November 12, 2010
Is there any chance someone (bxaimc?) could have a look at extracting the Guwange XMA files from the XBLA version (released this week)? The files are packed in a bin file called DSD200.bin. The XBLA version contains title/menu music unique to this release. I can upload the bin file if required. The files are definitely XMA (SFX are WAV), the file header reveals as such.

Once again asking for the help of others...

I've been curious about the music for the obscure Square-Enix PS2 title "Heavy Metal Thunder", as an album exists (TOCT-25765) but I've always suspected it was incomplete. I've apparently been proven right after peering into an archive from the game disc via hex editor:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UGZ6GM6U

The game's 290mb _BGM.FAR file, seemingly containing several dozen files labeled with the format of BGMxx_xx.MVB

Unfortunately, I have no clue about the nature of this "FARC" file or the "MVB" files within it. I've recently learned a (very) little about using hex editing programs to peek into files and look for the markers indicating other file-types within them, and how to theoretically extract (well, copy & paste) them via the hex editor, but I figured I wouldn't know what to do with the apparent MVB files even if I did manage to get one.

So here I am, hoping someone can offer some insight and possibly find out if the game contains more neat and/or cheesy songs like this:

Mask of Glory

(Kou Ohtani also did at least one tune for the game, but it doesn't seem to be on youtube. It's pretty neat too, as are some of the vocal pieces)

As long as I'm here, here's one of the several files which seem to contain the games FMV:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q2VQ2LMT
~140mb
FAR again, this time with "MVM" files. Like MVB, the Google results I'm turning up don't seem to be very helpful. I'm hoping these can also be figured out, with the hope that one of the movie files is a credits movie that can make clear who should be credited for the music.

Thanks for any help

Same scenario as Guwange I think.
by Dais! at 1:32 PM EST on November 16, 2010
ah, I forgot to say - thanks, bxaimc! I appreciate you extracting those files.
I have to admit I was hoping there would be more "full" tracks besides the ones on the released album, but there's some interesting stuff I hadn't heard before.

Did you happen to take a look at the movie archive file while you're at it? It's okay if you didn't, and the movies themselves might be in some format that can't be conventionally played any way...
by bxaimc at 6:27 PM EST on November 16, 2010
Yes, i did. I included the opening in the rip. No credits vid in there though :/
by bxaimc at 8:35 PM EST on November 16, 2010
Ok, here you go:

Espgaluda II Black Label (2010)(Cave)[XBOX360][Xbox Media Audio][XMA].zip

And if you want to convert these to wav, you're gonna need the latest VGMToolbox release and set it to how I have it shown:

Of course, this can be configured to convert other xma files with funky headers. This setting (shown) converts RIFF stuff (btw you might need to play around with the block size of other RIFF files that don't cooperate and convert correctly. You might need to use 0x8000 if so) that doesn't convert after attempting to drag and drop into ToWav.....which reminds me.....You need to place ToWav in the "external" folder.

oh, that was just the smallest _MOVIExx.FAR file. There's nine more of them, ranging from 250mb to 600mb and making up most of the game's data (it's apparently a FMV-heavy, gameplay-light title).

There's also a 450mb _ROBOT.FAR - since the game is about robots fighting, and the rest of the game only takes up about 88mb, I'm guessing the bulk of the game-related content is in there (models, textures, animations, sounds, etc).

I was hoping you might be able to tell me more about the extraction and playing of the movie files, since it wouldn't be very feasible to send you 3.5GB of movies through uploading sites. It's not a big deal.

Anyway, here's _MOVIE09.FAR, just in case you have the time to check it as well:

Patched? Eh? O.o
by Splashman at 12:47 PM EST on November 22, 2010
@bxaimc

Never mind, I just said that in case the files need to have a header patch applied or whatever, on top of the RAS file support you're working on... since that would mean I'd have to reupload the set.

bxaimc - could you help me out with this file please:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GZN1HAX5

It's from Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu (Xbox 360). It's similar to the Guwange bin file in that it has all the xma headers followed by all the xma data. I know I need to use the VFS Extractor but I'm not sure what settings to use.
by marcusss at 6:37 AM EST on November 26, 2010
Thanks for Goldeneye !

Any chance Divinity II can be ripped from xb360. Just curious since the ost is missing alot of the music from the game. Cheers

*gives bxaimc a cookie*

thx for Fable III and telling me how convert it to wav.

@bcass by Polokus at 4:50 AM EST on November 27, 2010
Here is the xma. I didn't know whether it was 48 or 44khz so there is the same file with each header. Both are directly convertable with towav.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/19iilt

Enjoy!
by bcass at 5:29 AM EST on November 27, 2010
Cheers Polokus. Any chance you could direct me to any info on how you did it? I can see that each xma segment in the bin file has an RIFF header. Did you just cut out the last segment and replace it with a generic header?
by Polokus at 5:53 AM EST on November 27, 2010
Well I extracted all 4 files with riff headers in the container. Only one turned out to be convertable. The header it had though did not convert with towav so I cut the old header off. To cut a header just cut from six bytes before the flag fc01c001 to the beginning of the header. I used a quickbms script to add the new header but vgmtoolbox supports this action aswell. If you need more help just msn me ;) barnabystubbs@aol.com

Ok, my turn. This seems to have the same VFS as Espgaluda II.

EDIT: And here it is (without destroying any of the original data):

Do-Don-Pachi Dai-Fukkatsu (2010)(Cave)[XBOX360][Xbox Media Audio][XMA].zip

And the VGMToolbox setting to convert it:

Enjoy :D

NBA Street V3 and SSX On Tour (GC Music Request) by cloakedguy at 3:33 PM EST on November 27, 2010
Does anyone have the audio files for either SSX On Tour or NBA Street V3 for the GameCube? It seems like there were once up on the tracker... years ago.

(Yeah, I posted this in the wrong thread a moment ago... my apologies.)

NBA/SSX by cloakedguy at 7:49 PM EST on November 27, 2010
I'd love it if you did - I'm trying to see what, if any, alternate music they have in those two games. Both had the Mario characters added.
by Knurek at 5:29 AM EST on November 28, 2010
bxaimc: I think it would be a good idea to include those screenshots *in* the set for games that require any non-standard settings. This would save people time for searching this massive thread IMO.
by bxaimc at 11:02 AM EST on November 28, 2010
No, they don't belong in there. That's junk and would be wasting my time. I don't have time to be making a picture for every non-standard set. What's so hard about playing with the settings a bit. These few pics are enough to understand how the tools work. And besides, we're still working on the tools to make them more user friendly and to have more features. Notice the presets area that's greyed out. Once the tool is complete, the presets will be added and I can start releasing my plugins for every thing I have.

For your average Joe, batch files, as per the ones you provided for Guwange, would be better than screen prints for some obscure hacking tool.

A quick Q about these new style XMA files: are these the result of a new XACT library being used, or is it a case of developers just trying to make it harder to get at the assets?
by bxaimc at 11:08 AM EST on November 28, 2010
Some games are difficult to write batch files for because games like Final Fantasy XIII require special settings for every file.

A quick Q about these new style XMA files: are these the result of a new XACT library being used, or is it a case of developers just trying to make it harder to get at the assets?

It's not that, they just chose not to use the standard stuff outputted by xmaencode.exe just like they have with the other consoles and the hundreds of other header types out there. Just look at PS2 for example, devs didn't want to stick with MIB/VAG, they wanted something of their own.

SideWinder F by Alcahest at 5:18 PM EST on November 28, 2010
Hey all,
Here is the SOUND folder of a PS2 game :"SideWinder F"
http://www.sendspace.com/file/6m73ej

It contains a huge file I suspect contains the BGMs, but PSOund doesn't find anything and MFAudio only gives static.

I am not certain it is steaming audio, about 80%.
If anyone with experience ripping PS2 games could tell wether this is streaming or sequenced, that would help a lot!

Thanks,

Alcahest
by snakemeat at 11:55 PM EST on November 28, 2010
Here's a ripkit for Sidewinder F

I only checked the SEQPCM file, but I've included a preset file for VGMToolbox's VFS Extractor if you want to check the archives. Use SEC as the header file and DAT as the data file. Be sure to check the SEC file for 0xFF to find the end of the header infos.

If you don't want to check the other files, just run the "vgmt_extraction_log.bat" file and use the "vgmt_genh_copy.bat" plus "*.genh.header" files to generate .genh files playable with VGMStream.

You can find the snakebite.exe file on Sourceforge. Or get the latest version by compiling via VGMToolbox source.

Thanks for this, some nice tunes for sure.

Also, I've already added .SPM support to vgmstream for it last night :P
by Knurek at 11:16 AM EST on November 29, 2010
Snakemeat: SEQPCM_00000007.genh and SEQPCM_00000008.genh seem to be bitwise identical (only difference between them in the GENH header, the filename field to be exact).
by snakemeat at 12:16 PM EST on November 29, 2010
You're right Knurek. I wonder why they did that. The data was extracted from different sections of the VFS. Oh well, wouldn't be the first time I've seen duplicate data in an archive.
Thanks! by Alcahest at 2:39 PM EST on November 29, 2010
snakemeat and bxaimc, thank you very much!

I was able to make the .GENH very easily and they're great!

The music is by Junya Nakano (former Square Enix), composer on FFX, DewPrism.. <3

So it's solved for the streaming tracks but I'm a bit lost when it comes to the sequential tracks ^^;
bxaimc was able to detect 7 of them I believe..?

Snake, is that what you refer to as "other files" ?
by bxaimc at 4:03 PM EST on November 29, 2010
Um, GENH isn't necessary here...
