I don't but I'm sure someone has them.
Also, re: the noises. Those are the fault of bad mastering on the developer's part and happen fairly regularly (if you look at the wavs in a hex editor, you'll see some text data when the pops occur).
IIRC manakoat has made a tool to automatically remove those, let me see if I still have it.

I converted them to mp3... I didn't think of 41000 Hz.

I found it at the official website.

Converted what to MP3? I don't see why anything involved with EAC (as you claim to have used) would be 48khz.
by nensondubois at 3:25 PM EST on November 5, 2009
I used EAC to rip the original uncompressed wavs then I used Goldwave to convert the uncompressed wavs to FLAC. I later realized the FLACS were 444MB and Since Mediafire would not allow anything over 200MB, I had to step the FLACs down to MP3 with Goldwave to reduce the size under the 200MB limit and I used 44800Hz instead of 44100Hz when converting to mp3.

Yes, there are streamed VGM rips of the Atelier Iris games for the PS2. I would suggest you check the PS2 VGM Database, specifically Atelier Iris 3, and Mana Khemia 1 and 2. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if those rips are online or not. But yes, there are rips. Hope that helps. Mouser X over and out.

New Super Mario Bros Wii (2009)(Nintendo)[WII][Nintendo DSP][BRSTM] 174MB

I figured I'd just drop this here. It's much like Mario Kart Wii, a collection of stereo and surround BRSTM files, works out of the box with the newest VGMstream.

And it sounds and plays great!
by SmartOne at 11:29 PM EST on November 7, 2009
Awesome! Why is Nintendo obsessed with its stupid 32000 Hz formats? And then they mess around with multi-channel files (4, 8???). Great. Now you can downmix them into Dolby ProLogic II encoded, analogue stereo, pass it to a receiver, and make it decode into 5.1 with whatever degree of accuracy PLII can achieve.

Oh, I get it. They throw those fun files in for the stream rippers.

by SmartOne at 2:15 AM EST on November 8, 2009
I was saying that the Wii itself lacks any digital out and thus potential for real surround. Dolby ProLogic II is poor man's surround sound.

At least the files can be fully enjoyed by us.

Any way you slice it, 32000 Hz is just stupid. Bump it up to 44100 Hz, already, Nintendo. You finally have a whole freakin' DVD.
by manakoAT at 2:39 AM EST on November 8, 2009
a whole freakin' Dual Layer DVD.
by marcusss at 3:02 AM EST on November 8, 2009
Yeah it seems plain silly to have such space on their discs and still have such crappy quality. I also hate their 32khz and is why I prefer to d/l the music on xbox or ps2 instead of wii/gcube if that game is multiformatted. Some games even use mono.. Look at Gauntlet Dark legacy: Game has great music.. Some of the stages like The Spire stage uses Mono.. WTF they thinking?? Game has great music. Pity the rips sound or rather the audio used sounds pretty damn scratchy.. Forget 32khz, forget..44khz.. Geez even 48 should be the norm ! Higher even.. They have no HD and still keep to their shitty audio format since so many years ago
by Lunar at 6:38 AM EST on November 8, 2009
48KHz+ is a genuine waste of space unless the music has a large dynamic range, which game/film soundtracks very rarely do. i can't see why they wouldn't use 44.1KHz these days though... that is slightly ridiculous.
by nensondubois at 11:14 AM EST on November 8, 2009
The only reason I could think of that would prevent them from increasing the standard is that most home CD players were hard wired at 44.1KHz and changing it to 44.8KHz would mean people would have to buy new CD players... and we can't forget about CD players built into video game consoles like the Sega Saturn, can we? It would be impractical for that reason alone. It would get confusing unless they labeled the CD with 44.8KHz compatible or something like that. People with portable CD players will also need to buy new ones if this transition were to happen. Hell, the digital TV transition confused millions of people and that's said.

Remember Laser Disks, anyone? They were too expensive to make and hardly purchased because of impracticality. You would need multiple huge Laser Disks just to watch a single movie.

...I'm probably trailing too far off so I'll stop here. I think I made my point with CD players alone.

edited 11:16 AM EST November 8, 2009
by SmartOne at 11:53 AM EST on November 8, 2009
Lunar, I thought dynamic range was determined by bit depth. (24 bit instead of 16 bit, for example.)

Nensondubois, they don't expect anyone to extract and play the files anyway, so I don't understand what you're saying. Check your sample rates, as well. ;)

Marcusss, yeah, Gauntlet Dark Legacy is one of those games where I wonder if they had a monkey in charge.

When you have the space and computing power for higher quality, USE IT. The under use of Blu-ray is even more ridiculous.
by hcs at 1:03 PM EST on November 8, 2009
Remember that disc space isn't the sole consideration. With streamed audio you are loading it off the disc at runtime, so you have the issue of disc bandwidth to consider. There are other things coming off the disc and you'll probably have to seek to them. And if you want to use a bigger read ahead buffer in memory to make up for it, or buffer the whole track to memory, you've increased its size by your increase in sample rate.
by SmartOne at 1:21 PM EST on November 8, 2009
You think they couldn't squeeze out 44100 Hz? Heck, they have 4 channel files at 32000 Hz.
by Splashman at 2:58 PM EST on November 8, 2009
And then there's STRM_BGM_MENU. One strange single file that's surround, but just in 22kHz... wtf

Anyway, with the whole game just being 376MB, they'd have plenty of free space for 44kHz, but I guess their old GameCube DSP format is good enough for them.

Although there are a few examples of BRSTM formats in 44khz, such as Castlevania Judgment, Captain Rainbow or streams from Wii Play and ACCF. It's a mystery what the credentials are for that.

by nensondubois at 3:10 PM EST on November 8, 2009
I was talking before about actual general Audio CDs and how ridiculous it is that they use 44.1KHz instead of 44.8KHz and how the transition would be messy.

Maybe it's to... Maybe it depends on how the game is setup. I don't really know why either. I'm just throwing ideas.
by JFD62780 at 10:25 PM EST on November 8, 2009
ahem... Don't you mean 48K, and not 44.8K? :P
by hcs at 1:05 AM EST on November 9, 2009
I guess you're right SmartOne, they do have to grab those multichannel files. Even though they could skip the blocks they don't want to read, the most common use case is to mix 'em together.
One of the things I found particularly odd was in Super Paper Mario, there were files with headers that say 44.1 kHz but were actually 22050 Hz for normal speed. I figured that these were the ones that played at 44.1 kHz when sped up 2x, and the value stuck in the header was to trick the streaming code into providing sufficient buffer. But the multichannel files pretty much kill that argument.
Then you have the fact that Super Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart Wii had up to 8 channels of PCM...
by Lunar at 6:03 AM EST on November 9, 2009
SmartOne: oh yeah you're right, i was getting confused with bitdepth, my apologies. 44.1KHz does cover the full audible range of frequencies (up to 22.05KHz IIRC.) Not really sure what the advantage is of having higher sampling rates.
by jurassicPieter at 6:45 AM EST on November 9, 2009
I got a question. How do most people figure out whether raw audio data is 22050hz stereo or 44100hz mono. I had this a lot with old games that used streamed raw pcm data.
by Franpa at 7:22 AM EST on November 9, 2009
[quote]SmartOne: oh yeah you're right, i was getting confused with bitdepth, my apologies. 44.1KHz does cover the full audible range of frequencies (up to 22.05KHz IIRC.) Not really sure what the advantage is of having higher sampling rates.[/quote]
Just because you can't hear anything above 22,050hz doesn't mean it doesn't affect your perception.

Remember subliminal messaging anyone? something you can't hear yet affects what is percieved.

Hey just curious if there is any way to get the music from Burnout 1 and 2 working as I tried alot but yeah no luck

Burnout 1 uses ULW files

3MB-Sample

Burnout 2 uses RWS files
28MB Sample

Would be great to hear them as they have pretty good music :)

I attached some small sample files for both

New Super Mario Bros. Wii rerelease, now with split tracks (yes, none of them are surround as you may have thought).

New Super Mario Bros Wii (2009)(Nintendo)[WII][Nintendo DSP][BRSTM]
by Mouser X at 1:39 PM EST on November 21, 2009
The problem with your set, is that it's not in the same form as it is in the game. In other words, sure, I can understand why you wanted to split it, but the goal of this "project" is to rip the data as close to the original data as possible. By splitting it (although making it more usable), you are in fact altering the data to something other than what the original data is.

Personally, I say do whatever you want, no big deal. The thing is, I very heavily strongly doubt this will make it into the "official" collection, because it's different than the in-game data. I appreciate your efforts, but those who are actually "in charge" do have specific things in mind when it comes to ripping games. Thus, any alterations to the original data are seriously frowned on, unless there's no other way to get the files to be usable (and usually, they'll at least attempt to get it to work in VGMstream first, before pursuing other routes).

In other words, thanks for your efforts. I have no doubt that what you've done is useful, and appreciated. But, due to the fact that it's different from the original data (you split the BRSTMs), I doubt it will be labeled as "official" in the Streamed VGM Database. Just saying.

Last, since I don't yet have the game (and therefore haven't attempted to rip it myself), and haven't listened to the rip that was posted earlier, I would like to say "Oops, sorry about that" in case I misunderstood what you've done here. Since I haven't looked at the actual in-game data myself, I don't actually know how it's arranged. Thus, it is possible that what you've done here is perfectly acceptable to the strict "rules" of stream rips. If so, sorry about that.

Anyway, thanks for your efforts. I might grab it (over the previously uploaded set). Mouser X over and out.

hcs: I think it's trying to call a sound effect instead of a proper stream. But why it has a stream header to begin with, who knows...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cehvabnm9zU#t=1m33s (1:33, if it doesn't take you there automatically)
That little guitar sting for the Koopa panel might just be a sound effect, like the entering a level and other confirmation jingles. The same goes for the "Too bad... You didn't even get one..." jingle at the end. It's just weird that that one had a stream header at all.

Star Wars Battlefront: Rogue Squadron?
by Mouser X at 12:23 PM EST on December 8, 2009
Something worth noting, bcass, is that A Boy and His Blob uses WAV, OGG, and MP3. Yes, even though some of the files have a WAV extension, they are in fact MP3s. If I recall correctly, the OGGs are the most complete, though there might be a WAV that's not available as an OGG. Essentially though, if all your interested in is the music, the OGGs should cover everything.

I just thought I should mention the MP3 thing, since I didn't see you mention it. I thought it was interesting that the game would use 3 different formats for the audio. I suspect that the MP3s were part of the development process, and probably weren't intended to be in the final game. Mouser X over and out.

Another one that I couldn't find with search.

I'm not sure but is Zelda: Spirit Tracks and Megaman x6 streamed? I'd like copies of there music if possible.
by Omochao at 1:49 AM EST on December 28, 2009
Like Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks is mostly sequenced, but there are a few streamed tracks.
