If it's in the game, it has to be in the ISO somewhere. In other words, they most certainly are there, but they're probably not streamed. If they are streamed, then they're in a format that hasn't been figured out yet, or in a location separate from the other music files. Like I said, if it's in the game, then obviously it has to be on the ISO somewhere. Mouser X over and out.

It's in the ISO. Don't worry about that. I re-ripped the game and I'll have it up on the tracker soon.

Where in the ISO is it? I can't find it in any of the streamed files.

Also, does it have all the variations of the menu and wi-fi themes?

Also, I just thought. Is there anyway of getting that piece of music that plays in Sherbet Land when you are inside the cave?

As I said, obviously, the music is somewhere separate from the other BGM. Some of it, I'm told, is sequenced (the Wi-Fi menu, I think) and is therefore, currently, useless to you (unless you plan on creating a Wii xSF format and plugin, or figuring out the format used in those sequence files). As for the other stuff, I think it's in some kind of archive-type file, and comes across as an RWAV, or something. Just because you're not familiar with the ridiculous amounts of audio formats in existence, doesn't mean it's not there. If it's in the game, then obviously, it has to be on the disc somewhere. Mouser X over and out.

Have a question about Mario Kart Wii. How do you listen to certain channels of tracks like Koopa Cape and Bowser's Castle?
by Mouser X at 3:08 AM EST on January 1, 2010
If that's one of those files that is multi-channel, then you either need a sound card which supports that many channels, or you need to use "test.exe" (which is included in the archive which has in_vgmstream.dll in it) and decode the files to WAV. Once you have it as a WAV file, open it in a WAV editor, and split the channels as you think they should be split. There's a "readme" (likely readme.txt) in the archive as well, so make sure to give that a look over to learn more about using the commands that test.exe utilizes. Oh, one last thing - test.exe is a command-line application. If you double-click on it, it won't work. You need to open a command prompt, and run it from there. Hope that helps. Well I managed to download the Mario Kart Wii stream, which contained amongst other things all 4 layers of the main menu theme, however, there's still the Wi-Fi (menu) theme missing.
by Mouser X at 1:08 AM EST on January 2, 2010
I told you yesterday that the Wi-Fi stuff is sequenced, not streamed. Thus, of course it wouldn't be included, since no one can handle the sequences anyway. In other words, the Wi-Fi menu isn't recorded audio (which, essentially, is what a stream is). It's sequenced, or "built", like a MIDI file, or (sometimes) a ringtone for your phone (though, I realize new phones can use MP3s for their ringtones, and MP3s are a streamed format).

To clarify - VGMstream is for streamed formats. It can't, and never will, handle sequences. Currently, no program exists which can handle NGC/Wii sequences. More than likely, such a format will exist one day. Right now though, that day is not today. If you want the Wi-Fi music, the best way to get it would be to hook your Wii's audio output up to your PC's microphone jack (or similar setup. Some people have better hardware than that), and record it that way, as your Wii plays the game.

I hope that clarifies why the Wi-Fi music is missing. Mouser X over and out.

I'd have thought that the Wi-Fi music in MKW would be just like the main Menu music, i.e. made up of different layers. I assumed that if I could get the different parts of the Menu music that the Wi-Fi was also streamed.
Nope by bxaimc at 3:25 PM EST on January 2, 2010
The only things found were instrument samples for the sequenced in RWAV format.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 12:20 PM EST on January 3, 2010
OK, that's too bad, I guess. I do have another similar question. You know the Megaleg theme in SMG? Is there anyway of getting the part that only plays when you're NOT on Megaleg? There's basically 4 themes, I think.
1st is when you're not on Megaleg (i.e. as soon as the battle starts)
2nd is when you're on Megaleg
3rd is the same as the 2nd one except the introduction is just a piano,
4th one is the faster version.

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th versions can be heard here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSNsiRw8Rlw

However, as I said, is there anyway of getting the part that plays before you actually go on Megaleg? As in the part the plays while you're on "the moon"?

by TheUltimateKoopa at 11:17 AM EST on January 4, 2010
Yeah, sorry for this, but is there a "SMG galaxy07 strm.ast"? From the ISO I got, I goes from 06 to 08, without 07.

Nice XBLA rips sir-sabin. I find it rather interesting that the channels are split in the Mega Man 9 rip. It seems that it would have been simpler to just combine all of the channels into one file.

While I am on the subject of XBLA, is there any word on whether Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 can be ripped? I asked about it a while back, but I don't think that there was a final word on it.

i think it's sequenced
by hcs at 2:25 AM EST on January 7, 2010
Re: MM9, with the channels split you can probably compress those waves near-losslessly at low bitrates due to the simplicity of the waveform (or you could with ADPCM, anyway). Don't know if that's the case here.
Also it enables interference from the sfx when you run out of channels (iirc this is an option ingame, though I may just be thinking of 8-sprite flicker).
Cool that it was streamed after all, though.
by bxaimc at 8:03 AM EST on January 7, 2010

Hi

I'm new to the XMA format. How would I go about playing the Battlefield 1943 XMA files? Do I need a certain Winamp plug-in or a decoder?
by Mouser X at 2:33 AM EST on January 16, 2010
No, you need a tool called "toWave", which converts XMA files to WAV files. And sometimes, that tool doesn't work. I don't know about the XMA files in Battlefield 1943, so I have no idea if those work with toWave or not. Hope that helps a little. Mouser X over and out.
by punk7890 at 3:32 AM EST on January 16, 2010
Thanks but I've tryed toWave. It didn't do anything for Battlefield 1943 XMA's.

The XMA's seems to be headerless.
by hcs at 4:46 AM EST on January 16, 2010
Four steps:
1. This should have gone in a different thread, as it is about playing, not distribution.

2. Run the Battlefield XMA through unpack1943 (on the ripping tools page. It is used like: unpack1943 file.dat out.xma
to create the file "out.xma"

3. Attach a header (here's one), put this at the beginning of out.xma

4. Run out.xma through toWav.

[edit]
Actually, it looks like Sir-Sabin already did step 2. You still need to attach a header to get toWav to do anything with it, though.

I managed to find an MP3 rip of the Darius Burst soundtrack on a Russian website:

I've re-uploaded it to megaupload as you had to register to download.

The file names are the same as the file names on the ISO, so I guess that whoever converted to MP3 was able to somehow decode the wxv streams as there's no soundtest in the game.

Here's the full wxv set if anyone would like to take a look:

Mario Kart Wii streams by TheUltimateKoopa at 12:04 PM EST on January 25, 2010
So, I got that set of Mario Kart Wii, from the tracker, which has all the BNS, BRSTM, DSP and RWAV files. It contains 5 rwav files, all of which have revo_kart_ followed by 00000289, 0000028A, 0000028B, 0000028C, and 00000571.

What I was wondering was, are there any revo_kart_*.rwav files where * is less than 00000289, or between 0000028C and 00000571, or above 00000571? I just seems weird that there's a 289-28C, then 571. I'm assuming they is or was something like revo_kart_00000463.rwav, randomly picking a number.
by bxaimc at 2:43 PM EST on January 25, 2010
Just Ignore that. it's just combined with sfx and other stuffs when i extracted it. Leave it be.
by Elven Spellmaker at 6:38 PM EST on January 26, 2010
Whats happened to the Mario Kart Set?

When I downloaded it, it had 8 THP files under a folder called cutscene, 12 files under the main directory which are multi channel (4+), revo_kart.brsar and 99 brstm in a folder called strm.

I also got HCS to extract 2 files out of the brsar which were W_BGM_FINALLAP_FAN.rwar and W_BGM_TITLE.rwar.

Are there anymore then?

If so would someone please give me the remaining files?

Thanks for that.. I thought I already tried those options but hmm I will give it a try again :)

Ahh got them working.

Uses 0x800 header skip and interleave 0x10 48000 hz.

Each song has a 2 channel and 4 channel version. Also some songs regardless use 2 channel such as track intros/main menu etc..

The 4 channel ver. sounds louder and much better so will just upload the 4 channel songs..

Sucks probably if you have 2 channel setup only though..4 channel versions kick arse !

So made Genh of all the songs. I have included looping also ;-)

Everything you described makes it sound like it's sequenced to me, and that it is therefore currently unplayable/unrippable. In fact, it looks like you might have the sequence files (I don't know about the sample banks/instruments) themselves. But since there's nothing available that can use/convert them, they're not really helpful.

In other words, it's very unlikely this game is streamed, and if that's the case, it doesn't belong in this thread, and it can't (and never will) be played by VGMstream. If I'm wrong, then I encourage you to seek a second opinion. Mouser X over and out.

I downloaded lossless streams of Super Paper Mario (in the format of brstmspm) from FF Shrine Forums. The reason was simply because the streams I ripped from the ISO were playing either twice as fast or half the speed and stuff. Anyway, can someone tell me the "official" track names for the streams? There's 135 streams, at least in the set I downloaded. btl_boss_middle1_44k_lp for example, doesn't really give you any clue as to exactly what it is. Some of them do, e.g. I'm assuming that btl_boss_stg1_22k_lp is the music when you battle Fracktail (that's the boss of stage 1, right? I've only watched the game, never played it, but I'm sure it's stage 1). But yeah, is there a list of track lists, and what streams should be named what? The official tracklist only has 90 tracks, possibly because certain tracks are merged as medleys (like the Credits theme in Ocarina of Time is 3 seperate miniusf files, but one single track on the official soundtrack).
by hcs at 9:52 PM EST on February 14, 2010
Just fyi, the you could have played the stuff from the ISO at the right speed by renaming the files from .brstm to .brstmspm. I don't have titles for ya.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 11:39 PM EST on February 14, 2010
It was easier to download them, though <_<. Does anyone else have either a tagged set, or at least a list of titles corresponding to each of the streams?

How do I play the P.N.03 files? They're not working with the latest vgmstream.
by Mouser X at 1:50 PM EST on February 19, 2010
The *.CAPDSP files work fine for me on r733. Do they work for you using that version? If yes, then it sounds like a problem cropped up between r733 and r741. Otherwise, you might have something "not quite right" on your end. Sorry I can't be of more help than that. Mouser X over and out.

Just tried r733, and still no joy. I haven't got in-cube installed either, so that isn't conflicting...

I've got links to a few Saturn redbook rips that aren't available here, thanks to a diligent Rackeboy member who goes by the name of jalvarez82. Would this be an ideal place to post said links?

hmm? I'm lost. I just stripped the the FPAC header off until I ended up with the OggS header.
by Knurek at 4:22 AM EST on February 27, 2010
Sir-Sabin: Could you upload tracks 5 and 15 from your Mega Max X3 rip somewhere? Seems the archive you put on Mediafire is borked (either that or something happened while I was downloading it) - I'm getting CRC errors while extracting on those two tracks.
by SmartOne at 1:33 AM EST on February 28, 2010
Mediafire likes to do that, unfortunately.
by Sir-Sabin at 11:19 PM EST on February 28, 2010
i'll fix that when my ratio resets for the month, waste of bw when it does that
by SmartOne at 2:29 PM EST on March 1, 2010
Does the PS3 version of Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing have high quality audio? 4-bit ADPCM 24000 Hz is pretty lame.

If so, I might actually consider buying the game. With money.
by bxaimc at 6:10 PM EST on March 1, 2010
I think it's the highest quality out of all ports. I played the demo and it sounded very nice with 5.1 DD surround sound ;) I think i might get that myself. The 360 version is XMA but it sounds very lossy (the usual for XMA). And the PC version is XWMA which imo kinda sounds lossy and sounds more like something between 24-32 khz instead of 48khz it's encoded in.

PS3? adpcm? have you looked inside the ps3 disc?
by bxaimc at 7:01 PM EST on March 1, 2010
Not yet. I will once i get it. Devs tend to leave the audio uncompressed with lossless quality on PS3 due to the disc size.

Just downloaded the Sonic and SEGA racing files (major thanks there), but Winamp won't play the .str files :/

I have the latest in_vgmstream from the site.

Am I missing something here (besides a brain probably)!?
by bxaimc at 7:20 PM EST on March 3, 2010
You can't play these .STR files with vgmstream because its coding is XMA. Grab the convert kit if you want to play it.
by icewolf762 at 7:43 PM EST on March 3, 2010
Derp! Thanks bxaimc.
