Xbox 360 music extraction by VGSB at 2:54 PM EST on November 14, 2008
Has anybody here ripped Xbox 360 music or know anybody who has? I noticed there is a rip for Soulcalibur IV in the bonus.
So I dumped Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts using the Xbox Backup Creator. The majority of the filenames though have no file extension. Examples are "Bundle/4f/234cec" and "Bundle/4f/400edc". Are these archives of a special Xbox 360 Xbox format, partitions of archives, or individual files that can be given file extensions?
There is a "Debug/db_index.txt" which has a list of lines such as "aid_streambundle_banjox_showdowntown_morning 1222141512 281.410" and "aid_streambundle_banjox_showdowntown_night 1222141512 281.410".
There are many other files in the Debug folder such as "Debug\11\00\21\6a" (no file extensions)
There is a "default.xex" file at the root.
XMA codec by OrangeC at 5:19 PM EST on November 14, 2008
hello,
The xbox360 uses a codec called XMA, it is a variant of WMA 9 pro and it is very hard to reverse engineer. There are two types XMA with a riff wav header. this one you need the xbox360 devkit and the tool include called: xmaencode.exe but you have to be a licensed dev to get it.
The other format is XMA headerless, these are harder to decode.
The only other method i know of which to decode XMA's is to use a bitstream program on a flashed 360 and playback the xma on the 360 and record it to a CD-R, then extract the CD0-R music unto your computer, But i have no specific knowledge of how thats done.
Hi there! I know how to rip this game, I've been trying to rip it for the last few days too. Read through this thread: You obviously have to click here. But if you just want the music... it's being posted on The Rare Witch Project's main site: Here! Well, not on the main site, but you have to go to the Archive and click "Nuts & Bolts: Music" there. ;)
Enjoy! ^^
If you want to know, I'm Byvar on the RWP. Apparently, this game uses part PCM and part XMA. Ice Mario of the RWP seems to know how to convert XMA to PCM, since he's the one ripping everything. So feel free to ask him if you want to know how to convert XMA to PCM. ;)

I'm a few weeks away from bothering one of the games' composers to see if he can provide some tracks for me to help complete my dirty rip. I had to manually loop each and every world theme by hand.
I'm just interested to see which gets done first, though I hope they both do.
Let me update here saying that i have not seen xma tracks in the game, i know what the xma strucutre looks like and the only tracks ive seen apart from raw pcm is WMV3 headers inside the no file extension files, seems it uses this format but i cannot figure out how to decode it.
